I like how he's pronouncing Wärtsilä correctly even though he's speaking English :) That usually never happens with Finnish names. Regards from Finland.
I must express my admiration for such undertakings.Whilst the English appear to have departed from the maritime scene the Dutch have pressed on and are now in the forefront of all such developments.I wish you all good fortune.
15 years ago, i had a job at Lips Dunen ( Now it's Wartsila) the workshop i've been working is compleet gone.....anly a small service station is remaining. don'n know if the name wartsila is still there....lot's of job's ar gone.
Rob, I worked for LIPS USA and did four weeks of training at Lips Drunen in 2002. Rob Gieben, Carl Ryss, Henk de Hoo and others who's names escape me. I trained mostly in the overhaul shop. Where were you?
true... but once you start watching, the WHOLE video is super cool! I live in the Netherlands for 10 yrs and never knew this great company existed here ;-)
The Netherlands looks like a neat place for industry. I will think about going there to work after I get my Professional Engineering license in Mechanical Engineering.
Definitely, would be a dream job for me, especially, in the refabrication of parts, and engine repair. Would love to work on a motor, that I could stand up straight in...!!!!! Lol....!!!!!
I often wonder who is buying the millions of carbide inserts I make. Wow I cannot imagine how much CNC was done to create some of those components. Thanks for the job security!
That's because workers in Europe take responsibility for their own actions and do not hide under unions, workmans comp, lawyers, etc etc. They are not as sue happy and the courts use common sense not "the law". When my family toured plants over there they noticed the lack of safety gear as well. Basically its your own choice. If you stick your finger in there and it gets cut off, your own fault for not thinking, learning or paying attention That is why their quality is so high people there care
brilliant,we do not see the most efficient combustion engine here though, the 2 cycle crosshead, the lowest fuel use of them all measured in grammes/ shp/hour, turning at 100 to 150 rpm, 10000 times the power of a powerful car turning at 5000rpm
Yes, but do you work on big engines? In English, wartzilla sounds kind of funny, godzilla like. I know, I know, all this spectacular work, and I just make stupid comments. Just the logistics for a company like this must be a nightmare.
Wärtsilä was founded in Finland in 1834 as a metal products manufacturer. Their head office and main product development are still in Finland but Wärtsilä operates in more than 70 countries now.
A friend of the family used to be CEO of Wartsila. The guy before him died of a heart attack. Within the space of 5 years our friend had two then retired. The chap who came after he was forced to quit due health had a heart attack within one year...Read into that what you will!
