Great new vid Stu. Glad you were convinced to meet Hans & friends. Warwick's are my lifelong fave to play and you have been a major influence on my style and taste of music for as many years. Ok....now this I like. A five string larger body on a four string. I've always felt that Warwick 4 string basses have bodies that are too narrow for my liking. This could be the bass that changes that.
@@jrosner6123 This is so true XD I LOVE my BTB 675, but the body is almost comically small; I swear they milled the bodies to be 4 stringers, got to the neck and said fuck it. It weighs a metric ton though, so it could be for the best.
+theakstonsrock Signature models are exactly that: a way of getting more money out of people than they'd normally pay for that exact bass :b a regular streamer + emg pups is what... 3000 dollars? if you want the maple neck and don't mind korea made it's less than 2000.
+PipeSmokingBearGuzzlingBassist That's what I thought at first, but, Stu goes into detail about ergonomics and balance of the bass. It may look like a streamer but only the body is of a 5 string model etc etc. The neck is maple & rosewood. Warwicks niche has always been Wenge or Ovangkol...Thinner, lighter neck and recessed bridge tailpiece. I am not justifying any pricing. Just saying it ain't the same.
October 2020 and a hand-made Sadowsky 5-string can be had for $1975. if i was gifted stu hamm's warwick, i'd trade it in or sell it to buy an aluminum upright or an azola.
The string spacing is adjustable on Warwick’s as well as the nut, instead of fixed like other companies. You’d be able to fix that with an Allen key in 10 seconds so it’s not like that is in any way permanent and therefore have to re-do the bridge etc. Pretty awesome
+asdf It IS extremely underwhelming. I guess when you moved beyond simple looks and make a player's bass, they do tend to look basic. Stu came from Fender after all. Eight grand though? I have absolutely no idea how that bit works though.
If you know anything about Stuart, this is his sound and has been for the better part of the last 30 years. Listen to his early solo stuff. He’s unique and does not get enough acclaim in the bass community.
kubicki, fender, washburn and now warwick. brand loyalty is rare nowadays. patitucci, sheehan and nathan east stuck with yamaha. wooten stuck with fodera. marcus stuck to fender. vai, satriani and paul gilbert stuck to ibanez. RESPECT!
Terrible sound, sounds like a a cheap bass. Stu for me was one of the best slap bass players but...he played the best bass for slap: Kubicki factor. Without it he sounds terrible! Warwick don´t know anything about build basses for slap, as simple as it. Should learn from Kubicki or Ken Smith instead of trying to shell basses that don´t sound at all
