We originally had this in the video itself, but we had to trim it out last minute. We have an ANNOUNCEMENT! 2001 was a pretty wild year too--The Bonds home run record, the Mariners setting the single-season win record with a Japanese rookie phenom named Ichiro Suzuki. And then there was 9/11 and how baseball helped the country cope with the tragedy. There was the Piazza home run in the first game back after 9/11, the unbelievably competitive playoffs culminating with a walk off game 7 hit in the first ever November world series (off of the best closer of all time). I was just getting into baseball at the time and it meant everything.

I remember the Marlins & Rockies first year as expansion teams. My grandparents had gone to Florida for vacation that year so I was hoping for something cool like a jersey or at least a hat. They got me this *awful* shirt. It had a Marlins logo on a black shirt and they(the apparel Co) basically had done "sponge painting" across the entire thing. Where you lay the big side of a sponge in paint and use it take basically act as a huge stamp to cover the entire shirt. Yea. It really was early 90s terrible lol! Now that I think about it, there may have even been some of the oh-so-cool "splatter paint" on it, as well! 🤣

The 90’s feels like the beginning of the end for baseballs relevancy. Games still going fine, the players have been talented and there’s still highlights but something about the 90’s peak and the slow descent from that high is just something fierce.

Man I'll take that trade off any day of the week!!! If you were around to watch that 1998 MLB season then you'll know exactly what I'm talking about. That year brought a nation together... literally!!! Here in Phoenix, Az you would talk to people you never thought you'd talk to, people would holler at you while sitting a red light just to find out if something changed, mom and pop stores staying open late just so they could finish watch one of the games...it was totally insane. I don't think we'll ever have another season of sports like that ever again....it was truly amazing!!!!

There's a key omission from the 1991 section. The 1991 Braves featured second baseman Mark Lemke, who not only hit .417 in that year's World Series but is the accidental inspiration for Homestar Runner.

I was not alive during either of these seasons (born in '04) so my 2 favorites are 2015 and 2019. I'm a Mets fan, so 2015 was the first season to truly capture my heart with the pennant winning team (and Joey Bats as well), and 2019 is my favorite Mets team with all the personality of Alonso, Mcneil, and Dom and of course the dominance of deGrom. League wide I'd have to say 2016 because basically every playoff series was epic (both wild cards even though the Mets lost, ALCS with the Ryan Merrit game and Bauer's drone, and of course the world series).

I'm a Royals fan born in 1986 (1 year after their previous World Series win AND their last playoff appearance up until 2014), so the 2014 and 2015 seasons were definitely special for me as a Royals fan. And much respect to the Mets for being classy in the World Series unlike The Blue Jay's who we smoked in the ALCS.

The 95 season was my all time favorite in my life time. The mariners being down like 12 games with a little over a month to play and making the playoffs for the first time in their history was amazing and the to win the alds off Edgar's double after being down 0 2 to the Yankees still gives me chills when I watch it

I don't know if I would consider the '91 season an out and out "last hurrah" for the Kirby Puckett-Kent Hrbek-Tom Kelly era Minnesota Twins. People seem to forget that one year after they won the World Series, they went 90-72. They however, finished six games behind Oakland in the AL West (remember, that there was no wild card or three divisions yet, otherwise the Twins would've won the AL Central), and that would be the last time that they would finish the season over .500 until the year 2001.

You're not wrong. Game 7 is the greatest game ever played. It had everything. An insane 5-1 comeback, a guy getting a run off of, like, a wild pitch, sick dingers, the greatest reliever ever stuff wise blowing a save, LeBron, AND A FUCKING RAIN DELAY. Anyway, as a White Sox fan, I was in agony knowing I would not like the outcome. As a baseball fan, I was delighted.

I forgot about that David Wells perfect game was in 1998. Makes sense. Everything was clicking for the Yankees that year, and the ONLY time I was ever happy to see a sweep in the World Series. That team was and probably will be the best team I’ve seen in the MLB.

Depending on how great this postseason is, 2022 could rival these years in terms of greatness. Judge hitting 62, Pujols pulling off the borderline impossible hitting 700 after the HR derby, Mariners ending the longest playoff drought in sports, Philly ending the longest NL drought, Verlander coming back from TJ and casually pitching a 1.75 ERA season, Miggy getting 3k hits, Judge and Goldy both putting up triple crown cases late in the year (even tho both are unlikely to happen), the biggest trade in terms of price tag that we've seen possibly ever (Soto), and I'm probably still missing some stuff.

U got to put 2016- one of the greatest World Series ever (not bias) game 7 extras a 108 year drought and a 68 year drought. Stanton HRD. U saw stars like David Ortiz, Arod, Prince Fielders emotional retirement, also Jroll and Big Tex retire 2001- another great World Series new franchise vs the evil empire. Baseball United the nation after 9-11, another insane home run year and bonds hit 73 2011- final week was crazy and the final day was even more insane. The playoffs were one of the best of all time as well

1991 was a historical year for the Seattle Mariners. The Mariners played their first season in 1977. From 1977 to 1990, every season ended with them finishing below .500. Their first 14 seasons. And 3 of those seasons ended with them losing at least 100 games. In 1991, the Mariners went 83-79, their first season ever above 500.

Check out the 2005 Chicago White Sox. One of the most dominant Post Season pitching performances I have seen. The White Sox won on Opening Day and then ran the gauntlet, staying in 1st place the entire season as they went on to win their division. One of only a few Word Series winners to achieve that feat. I would really enjoy an episode highlighting the White Sox World Series season of 2005. It is well over looked, but it was spectacular.

i find it crazy that for exactly one season, in 1993, the Colorado Rockies were in the same division as the Atlanta Braves. 1993 must've been one of the strangest seasons in MLB history. The MLB expanded from 26 to 28 teams, but kept their 2 division format, and had 7 teams in each division, but only the best team could make the playoffs, leading to the Giants missing the playoffs despite having 103 wins. In 1994, they fixed it so there were 3 divisions, where 8 teams would make the playoffs rather than 4 (though the 1994 season was interrupted by the strike, so they didn't get to the new playoff format until 1995). The division alignments were not as weird as the NFL, which had instances of the Atlanta Falcons being in the same division as the Los Angeles Rams, and the New York Giants being in the same division as the Arizona Cardinals, as well as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers being in the same division as the Minnesota Vikings

1990s Braves were my 2nd favorite team. Living in Louisiana, I saw them play WAYYYYYY more than Seattle, my favorite team, though. Thanks to TBS. YEP. I watched the Braves walk all over so many teams in the 90s lol. We also had WGN so, we got Cubs and White Sox games, too.

I’d say either 2013 or 2015 with the Red Sox winning after the Boston Bombing and 2015 for the Royals going from 7 player all star team World Series champions to irrelevant in one year or 1997 when the Mariners had Prime Randy, MVP Jr., Edgar Martinez in his prime and A-Rod to think they could’ve had them Ichiro and David Ortiz is frightening if only the dispute lifted a few years earlier or David wasn’t traded damn what a disappointment

I don't see anyone talking about 2004. The 3-0 Red Sox comeback was great and all, but no one talks about how Astros vs Cardinals in the NLCS was also an incredible series. Ichiro chasing the hit record was also in this year.

Went to Game 3 of the 98' series, ticket in Press Level Qualcomm ticket cost $90. Dollars , My Super Bowl ticket earlier that year at Qualcomm was a much better experience Elway vs. Favre 82° at game time, maybe the best Super Bowl ever cost $198. The good old days

I don't really see how any season will ever top 2001. Not only for all the memorable baseball moments including an all-time great World Series, but for how important baseball was culturally in the healing process after 9/11. It was a tragic time for the country but a special time for baseball; there was an energy in crowds that was unique.

I’m gonna say that the 2005 season was actually one of the least memorable. The reason being, it was overshadowed by the 2004 season. Many people often forget one of the most dominant teams in postseason history was the 2005 White Sox. It seems like people only remember the Red Sox and Cubs breaking their curses, but hardly anyone remembers the White Sox breaking their 88 year curse

This is very true. People went nuts over the Red Sox in 04 when they finally won and hardly noticed the White Sox breaking an even longer curse (and a more merited curse at that!) It’s possible that the Red Sox drought was more renown because they came tantalizingly close to ending it over and over. They lost four seven game World Series and four ALCS appearances - plus many close calls for the pennant and division championships. From 1920-2004 the White Sox had only one tiny moment of success (in 59) but were not really memorable otherwise.

In my honest opinion, the 1985 season is one of the best of all time. Three of the four division races went down to the last day of the season. Tom Seaver and Phil Niekro notched their 300th career victory. Rod Carew collected his 3,000 career hit on the same day Seaver won his 300th. Nolan Ryan became the first pitcher in history to reach 4,000 strikeouts. Pete Rose broke Ty Cobb's all time hit record. Vince Coleman stole 110 bases in his rookie year and Dwight Gooden had one the best seasons by a pitcher in baseball history. As for the 1985 postseason, this was the first year the LCS went to a best of seven format. The Cardinals took the Dodgers in six games thanks to the heroics of Ozzie Smith and Jack Clark and the Royals beat the Blue Jays in seven games in the ALCS after being down 3-1. Then in the World Series, the Royals found themselves down 3-1 only to take advantage of the Cardinals anemic hitting and Don Dinkinger's blown call to win the title in seven games. As of the now the '85 Royals are the only team to overcome two 3-1 deficits in the same postseason.

Short answer: ‘91. The World Series went seven games and Game 7 saw the greatest pitchers duel in baseball history. The ‘98 World Series was utter domination by the Yankees and the home run chase has the steroid asterisk next to it.

I genuinely think 94 would be on this list had it not been cut short by the strike Tony Gwynn genuinely within spitting distance of batten 400 for the first time since Teddy ball game you had the Expose looking to win their first and what would've been their only World Series with a great team who knows it could've been a expose New York World Series which would have been fun so much potential so sad to get ruined

What’s really the saddest is that athletes cannot use PEDs to protect themselves from injuries so they juiced the ball, and now everyone on the roster can homer...that doesn’t make baseball more fun, it makes it a joke.

Does anybody else hate watching baseball but love hearing about the stories and love looking at the stats or is it just me because i physically cant bring myself to watch a full 3 and a half hour game but will binge watch documentaries for hours or is it just me

It's not just you. For about 10 years I rarely watch full Braves games on TV. I can't take it.
