She is the only serial killer, I strangely have sympathy for. She was handed a cruel fate at the very start of her birth. Everything she endured led her to this breaking point. None of the victims, deserved their deaths. It doesn't excuse what she did to their families and friends. Yet, Aileen Wuornos deserved better in this life. A real, loving and nurturing family. Odd to say this, but I hope, she is resting in peace and is not tormented too much. And that whole town, treated her less than human. She was a child and yet no one saw her as a person, a child.
Honestly I have a bit of sympathy for Dahmer as well. Well, sympathy for the child he was. I wonder what would have happened to him had he gotten help for his alcoholism and his dark fantasies.
@@michaelrankine1825 Od course it's not her fault. But what's the other alternative? Life in a mental institute? Let out of prison? What kind of job can felons get? Factory? NOT AS LONG AS SHE CAN MAKE MORE MONEY, NO PUNCHING IN, OR OUT WITH THAT JOB. SHE MARRIED A RICH DUDE, SHE MESSED THAT UP.
Poor woman lived in survival mode all her life. This woman had no hope. Failed by everyone apart from Dawn. Her death was probably a relief for her. This broke my heart 😢
It was both genetic but mostly the way she was brought up destroyed her and so her genetic problems came to the surface. You would not make Ganges Khan son very angry even if he was happy ha ha ha..
Too bad she didn't meet your dad, brothers, uncles, sons. I'm sure if she did, you would have a different viewpoint because it's the mighty YOU. When it's other people, who cares, eh? This just shows what you are
Is that justification? This isn't all that different from kids who are bullied, ostracized and marginalized by popular kids in school where the only recourse they feel they have is to lash back in horrific ways.
@@MisterMister5893 You've asked a question then assumed my poistion and started arguing against it. In answer to your question. No it isn't justification but if we want to minimise such responses we should be aware of the dangers of making people so isolated and rejected.
Just to be clear, I can identify with those maligned and ostracized more than the ones who are doing it to others so I'm all too familiar with feeling of despair and hopelessness than anything else. What thoughts of revenge I may have are not broadcasted nor allowed to take over. It's taught me a lesson that People are definitely cruel and deserve their just desserts though; one form or another. @@capio78
There’s no “right” in her story. The abuse she suffered as a little girl was wrong. The murders were also wrong. I believe the abuse led to her hatred of men and the poor woman just had hit her limit and couldn’t take any more. She was a tortured soul. I hope she’s at some kind of peace now.
selling herself at the age of 10? she may have been seen as a monster by a lot of people but it was the monsters who used her that made her the way she was. RIP
@WetLettuce-kc2qm because not everyone have the same mindset and/or psyche? also a mental disability may also have a huge factor when looking into her case? how can we know for certain. tchüss
@@zellie9 Well said. There are so many different nuances to abuse. I reckon pretty much anyone could end up being a killer after suffering Aileen's unique history of abuse.
Aileen have gone through so much pain in her life. No one supported her during her childhood if she got a normal caring loving family then she might be with us today. Rip Aileen and victims.
That doesn't mean murdering others is acceptable. I have no sympathy or empathy in relation to that. Obviously we (hopefully all) want children, young adults and indeed fully-grown adults to have peace, happiness and all support that may be needed. Since, however, she had no mental disorder (and therefore could form intent) she is fully responsible for her killings.
I agree, she was like a lost sheep. She did wrong, but she felt like she had no other options. This happens when no one takes time to care about another person. It leads to this, 7 plus her, 8 dead people. Everyone deserves compassion. But in this world, there is not enough to go around. It's sad 😔.
@@taras6806 True i am not supporting her killings, but I thing her traumatic experience shaped her life an abusive grandfather who beat her regularly,an alcoholic grandmother, In school nobody likes to talk with her she became outcast in society, Society is as much responsible for making her like that
An absolutely lost soul. Obviously, the sympathy belongs to her victims, but that can occur whilst also understanding that this lady didn’t stand a chance from the beginning. Very sad situation all round .
I've read and watched so much about her, and I can't help but feel she was failed by the system/family/society. She had such a hard torturous life. I see docs referring to her as a monster and it annoys me. They call her brutal and savage. So many male killers have been by far more brutal and cruel.
This is why i feel so sorry for Aileen, she was simply a product of her environment! How can u begin to understand unless u've been there or are living in that nightmare! I did actually cry for her, she wasnt an evil person, she was just driven mad by people letting her down & the ways in which she had to live definitely did not bode well for her! Bless her heart, at least she rests now up there on that mother ship! 😢💕✌🏻
As a young girl while at school she was suffering from living in an abusive home and most likely suffered from emotional imbalance. She would skip school regularly and often run away from home. And not one school official, teacher, or cleric took any notice or intervened? Had anybody in Troy at the time heard of child welfare or was the district in which she attended school still operating with an 1800s mindset?
What Aileen did was wrong. But her life was cursed from the day she was born. I feel sorry for both her and her victims. Shame on the neighborhood children who treated her so badly.
25:38 There’s no way, w/ Mallory having the record that he did, he didn’t intend to harm AW when he picked her up off the side of the interstate in his car. It’s unbelievable to me that during her 1st trial Mallory’s record/history wasn’t disclosed to the jury. Arrest records are public information so why didn’t the judge allow that to be introduced as evidence as part of Aileens defense?!? AW was right when she said she would never get a fair trial,.. everyone, including her own lawyer, was against & out to get her. I don’t think I’ll ever not believe that Mallory attacked AW & she defended herself from that attack. Not to sound cold or uncaring but Mallory’s shooting was probably his karma for all the horrible things he did to women/ppl throughout his life.
We will never know how many of those killings were self-defense, but it's likely more than one. Aileen is a perfect example of everything wrong with the American court system. She should have had a re-trial with a competent lawyer by her side.
If she was a guy no one would have this amount if sympathy for her. Its always a choice how many people have had a shity childhood and to suggest she had no choice but to become a serial killer is nuts.
I dont know why I feel sorry and sad for her. I think because she deserves this emphaty. I can feel her genuineness. Her life was tough. She was wronged by people. Yess, she had killed men. But the way she cared for her gf was unbelievably noble. She did what she promised Tyria RIGHTAWAY. She confessed, she surrender herself to the law with confidence. Like it or not, it needs a BIG HEART. And its rare. She was so cooperative, she was in tears and showed remorse. That means there was part of her heart that is not touched by evil. How I wish she would have a better life and didnt end up on that path. At least she died with dignity. RIP Aileene.
It always amazes (and infuriates) me how easy her gf got off: seems she definitely knew about the murders but she ended up not being punished at all...
The only thing which I can say about this woman, and say with clear conscience, is that she was born to be the victim of a society which doesn't care. It didn't care then and it doesn't care now. Rest in peace woman.
@@Hariotoff776 it's not judging, lol not one time did I say anything about HER. I said there are people who have been through worse then what she did growing up & still turned out to be great people. That's what I'm saying.
Where was the help when she was thrown out of her grandpa’s house at 15?? I think this story may have turned out differently if there was help at that point. Tragic story.
Her victims were not her collateral damage. Those men were people. They belonged to a family, they had loved ones, their lives have been taken away from them in the most cold blooded way... JEEZ. These Wuornos stans...
@@plexoniolopez996those men are not victims. They knew what they were doing, they abused her and took advantage of her situation. No man who supports and buys prostitution is innocent. They got what they deserved
I don't normally say upbringing is an excuse but her upbringing and cruel abuse by society has to take a large amount of the blame the same amount as she dose for the murders .
I don't think excuse is the right word, but rather, collectively, we are trying to study and understand human behavior. Our understanding of what leads someone to committing a crime, just sheds light into how we can prevent creating trauma-based crime and pain. It's nowhere near in the same context of excuses. An excuse seeks to absolve someone of culpability. Eileen is culpable, even when we understand what led her to it.
I remember watching her life story, movie "Monster" (starring Charlize Theron & Christina Ricci) (with my best friend named Aileen) . I cried a lot, such a sad, tragic life of Aileen... May she & her victims rest in peacefully.
My heart goes out to her. Her childhood was tainted with cruelty and beating which no child deserves. She was not given true affection and love and because of her
Low self worth she prostituted herself. I personally feel she was not a born killer but no one truely loved her. Poor woman. She needed psychiatric treatment.
@GIBBO4182 Sorry but I have no sympathy for the victims what so ever that tortured her and raped her repeatedly. And other little 7 yr old girls!! They were all rapists so yeah no sympathy for them what so ever!! All rapists need to be in prison and never let out period!! All they do is get out of Prison and continue to do it again over and over. Sick!! They need to go back to an eye for an eye
I was always a loner during these awful situations I often think how did I keep my pain to myself but now am eager to get it ALL out. I cry every night but it’s never enough. No closure 😡😡😡
Not only that she was lied to her whole life!!! Raised by her grandparents thinking they were her real parents!!! So what else was she lied to about!!! Always felt sorry about the whole situation so sad
This is so so sad...she was no monster..She was made a monster! She was beautiful, and had a sweet face as a child. This story makes me always feel sad..Just because there are so many kids as this, were nobody look after, or love..😔😔
True, be mistreated all her life, it is hard to imagine she does not hate certain type of people. Indeed, I think those men came to her to make their own beds.
fun fact, the black and white photo with her smiling creepily is a marriage photo is from when eileen married an older man for money when she was young (19-early 20s) if you zoom out and see the whole picture it’s her and her husband
They left out the part of her life where she was briefly married to a very wealthy elderly man, she beat him with his own cane and he had the marriage annulled.
I feel bad for her. She had no advantage whatsoever. She was born into a horrible life. Hate that she had to go thru so much heinous things. No one deserves that. 😔
I think this story is a tragedy for all involved. Aileen was let down time and time again by the men in her life which led to her believing all men were out to harm her, which in turn led to innocent men being slaughtered.
Dawn is such a loving soul. Finally giving the peace ailleen deserved. Killing the men was so wrong. But she was failed by everyone! Parents, grandparents, the town everyone. She just wanted peace and feel loved.
I have such a hard time with this one. She was a monstrous serial killer for God’s sake, I should loath her. But part of me pities her. She was lost from the day she was born into such dreadful circumstance. There lies the dissonance. May she Rest In Peace.
This story leaves out so much factual information. She admitted to killing in cold blood, only because she was just ready to be done. By the time she admitted that, she was so far “out there” mentally, she would’ve said anything. Watch the actual interviews. That will tell you the truth.
She didn't stand a chance because noone gave her one it's wasn't fair and the whole video the men are very judgmental she did what she had to do to find love acceptance and I personally feel like if she was born today things would have been very different she shows how everyone needs help and love I don't see her as a killer but a person who was wronged her whole life
@@ultanmahon5080I hope you feel equally, if not more sorry for her victims who were unfairly killed even though they did not have anything to do with her life.
I'm so glad she had at least a couple of friends who truly understood and cared for her, her upbringing certainly didn't sound like much love was involved.
Tyra was a monster, if she had been with Aileen for her qnd not just for money she could get out of her, some of this could've been avoided. She should be held responsible somewhat because she k ew Aileen killed at least the first guy. I've never felt bad for a serial killer but I feel for Aileen
Aileens' lawyer basically used her for clout and money, as well. Everybody used her - her parents, her grandparents, her clients, Tyria. I actually would've been more shocked if she DIDN'T end up this way. 😢
Aileen is the personification of "hurt people, hurt people." I've never seen a more blatant case study for nature vs nurture. I genuinely believe that had she been given a fighting chance when she was a child, her life would've never intermingled with her victims.
She was both the victim and a monster I'm in no doubt that her circumstances in her early life defined who she became ..and she did become a monster killing without any remorse
Having watched almost every episode of these. I genuinely feel sorry for Eileen. She was no born killer and in fact her life experiences made her almost survivalist. Im a male from England and we have almost no crimes here committed by women. The ones we do have deserve every second! The life and the interviews made her look like a monster 😢 if the right man came into her life she would have been happy or the right women. She is a product of broken home, bullying and not right way to turn to. She couldn’t cope and hit out like a caged animal which wasn’t here trait. Baffles me that males who have committed the most heinous crimes with anger and ritualistic tendencies have served time and been freed. As a male far from this crime i sympathise with her. It’s a shame more women arnt like Eileen and give these monsters much more a taste of there own medicine. It’s just sad
She never got a chance in life moment she was born she was abandoned, no emotional support, neglect and hardship cause her to be this way. So sad about her life. I dont think she was born evil its the life she was given cause her on the edge.
I saw the film about her,Her partner was the one love of her life,There was NO help for her.But i dont think she should have got a death sentence,Life sentance,
@@dissyduster Yeah, I think that she was just done with life at that point. She'd been betrayed by everybody - her family, the education system, clients, Tyria. She's the only serial k*ller that I feel sympathy for. 😞
We dated back in middle school (puppy love) in the 60’s things were more simple at the time, she revealed to me that she was raped and I didn’t know how to react. I never thought she’d grow to be a killer .
I think in Alieens shoes I'd have likely done the same, her life was horrendous and led to what happened. She was failed by her family, society and school. My heart aches for her
I always felt bad for her….. not ever pity…. sadness mainly for how hard her life was…. every part of it was hard…. I don’t even know how she managed to smile in those photographs…. this was also a child who tried to be normal… tried to make friends and no one wanted her at all….. Rest Well Lady ❤
She should never of been put to dealth, as sum1 has already said if you kick a dog long enough it will eventually bite back, the song she chose for her own funeral I think says alot about what this woman went through, the song Natalie Merchant Carnival.. I still listen to now and always reminds me of her. I hope she's now at peace.
She was born a perfect baby girl deserving of love. Aileen never stood a chance. No wonder why she murdered men. No wonder why she didn't want to exist anymore.
I beleive she is a victim just as much as I beleive the menendez brothers are victims ,sa ruins the innocent beautiful minds and souls of children and young people ,they aren’t evil to not be able to take it anymore!
I don't know how some parents can do these things to a child. No wonder she took off. Imagine a 13 year old girl trying to navigate the US underground. :( Breaks my heart.
Rest easy Aileen. She was wronged from the beginning in all the worst ways. Rest in peace to the victims as well, they did nothing to deserve to be murdered.
