Went straight for the money, didn’t even care about the husband who lived and cared for her mother while she was sick. Deaths always show people’s true colours. Imagine how sad you would be knowing your death was just a fast cash grab for your child.

Ugh. I was the daughter (not HER, but same situation). We have NO IDEA if this is true. My mom abused her kids, let her husband abuse her kids, and I guarantee he didn't "take care of her as she died of cancer". He ignored her. I know this. However, to everyone else, it looked like he was the doting husband and her the poor, sweet, lady who didn't deserve bad things. We don't know what happened, and as someone who went through something similar I find comments like these short-sighted.

I lived 1000 miles away from my mother and I'm virtually bedbound so didn't see her for the last two years of her life although we spoke by phone almost every day.At her request to my sister,I had no idea how ill she was until her final two months. My sister, with a husband, five children, one an eight year old quadriplegic,a farm,a full time nursing job and living 200 miles away, also cared for my mother who wanted to remain in her own home even although she couldn't be left alone for her last eighteen months. My sister drove back and forward to mum's every second day, bringing food and caring for her as long as she could alone until eventually carers had to be brought in to help.My sister stayed with mum full time her last eight weeks then arranged her funeral, sorted her affairs and sold the house-a massive task in itself as it was a 10 bedroomed mansion absolutely full of belongings.I did manage one visit before mum died, then her funeral then one more visit.ostensibly to help my sister clearing but in reality all I could do was sit. Mum's will-again part of the legal stuff sorted out by my sister, left her estate split between my sister, myself and our brother. He lives ten miles from mum, knew of her illness, despite mum's request,as a neighbour had met and told him.At 50,he has never worked, living off benefits-no health reasons, just laziness.Despite not working,he was too busy to visit my in her final days or even attend her funeral. Not too busy to decide to contest the will, saying mum had promised to look after him and had said he would receive the lion's share of her money-her estate was pretty substantial. As he wasn't working,he received legal aid and didn't have to pay lawyers to argue this case-my sister and I did.It was costing us a fortune but we were determined he wouldn't win.Fortunately we succeeded and our costs were awarded back to us.I gave my sister most of my inheritance as she had suffered a lot financially looking after mum and it was the least I could do.I have more than sufficient for my needs.Brother of course is now complaining that if the benefits department find out he has inherited all the money-many,many hundreds of thousands of pounds-his benefits will be stopped as you are only allowed a few thousands in savings before claiming. So tempted to tell on him!

If the daughter gave a damn, she would have gone to the banks with the husband and taken care of it together, whether they liked each other or not PLUS husband was not even invited to the memorial service. Right there, that sounds like GREED to me.

This poor guy, he lost his love then the money they have been saving together the daughter took! I suspect she would have taken more than 19,000 if the bank had allowed it! She even said, i took what the bank allowed

This is similar to my mom. My mom got sick, was in a coma for around 25 days, woke up & passed away w/i a fckn week. My moms bf was abusive, liar, cheater. I had control over who sees her in the hospital. She was isolated for 22 days so nobody could see her. My brother/my moms best friend was going to see her after her other best friend, & they never made it BC she died the night before the morning they were going to go see her. My moms bf never offered any money to help with my mom. He called her names, abused all of her children, attempted to kill all of us including my mom, was disrespectful. In the end, he ended up stealing her car after her death, & i got her rings he spent thousands on. The hospital sent them to the funeral home with her, & they shipped them to me. I couldn’t be back home 14 hrs away due to my pregnancy. Life is what it is.

If the daughter’s name wasn’t on the account and she wasn’t named as a beneficiary, I don’t see how she took out the money without either committing fraud. She is not authorized to do that. My mom added my name to her accounts years ago when her health wasn’t good to avoid these headaches. The plaintiff should have asked his wife to do this when she became sick.

My wife's family is already fighting even tho their dad is still alive and doing well after some medical issues and their father put everything in a Trust years ago. It's insanity what "the love of money" can do to people. Money is not the root of all evil, the LOVE of money is.

As a daughter who was estranged from abusive mom/stepdad I am actually entitled to half of her estate. I don't want it...BUT if there is family trauma, I can see how some would want the money. If one of them had filed probate (my stepdad did not when my mother passed) - none of this would have happened. I filed it for childhood photos, everyone thought I was "suing for money". Have a Will, it saves heartache.

We're not taking about some boyfriend that mom lived with for a couple of years. He was her husband for 25 years and took care of her at the end of her life. Then when she dies, the daughter swooped in to clean out bank accounts. I believe she would have left all the balances at zero if she could have. What a greedy piece of work she is.
