These discoveries made by Petrovich are nothing short of historic, marking a monumental shift in our understanding of history. These findings not only validate the historical accuracy of scripture but also have profound implications for philosophy and our perception of truth. The depth and significance of these findings have consequences that are truly staggering.

There seems to be some confusion in the comments section here. The claim is NOT that Hebrew was the first written language, but the first alphabet. The alphabet is, basically, a system of writing in which the symbols portrayed represents the sounds of the language. These symbols are combined together to represent words. Compare this to Egyptian hieroglyphs, for example, which uses symbols to represent entire words. This is why ancient Egyptian writings have 100s to 1000s of symbols while English has 26. I am not trying to argue the validity of what is being discussed here, just providing an understanding for those that want to argue that there were older written languages.

The Asnath inscription and the last inscription about Pharaoh's terror is absolutely mind boggling.

If his discovery is true, then the most amazing isn't that the hebrew alphabet is the first, because it was always a contender, but the fact he found evidence for the existence of JOseph, his wife and sons, which fits biblical narrative

I noticed you add hidden Yud's and Vav's to ends of words occasionally, can you explain how you got these? Thank you! I've been proposing that Hebrew is the original alphabet for ten years now. Glad to see a scholar confirm this.

This was settled long before this research and never should have been lost. Imagine if we just read the Book of Jubilees found in the Dead Sea Scrolls, called Torah by the Temple Priests and used as the textbook of the ancient world yet censored in the church today. Moses quotes Jubilees in fact in Genesis very specifically in an account that does not exist anywhere else in Torah but only originates in Jubilees. Jubilees 12: 25-26 RH Charles Translation: And the Lord God said: 'Open his mouth and his ears, that he may hear and speak with his mouth, with the language which has been revealed'; for it had ceased from the mouths of all the children of men from the day of the overthrow (of Babel). And I opened his mouth, and his ears and his lips, and I began to speak with him in Hebrew in the tongue of the creation. Hebrew is the original language of the Bible, and of the world. Let's be clear modern Yiddish-infused Hebrew is not Biblical Hebrew. There are many new rules that could not exist in the ancient language which had no vowel points and does not apply inconsistent nonsense. Linguists fail on this across the board. Yah Bless.

Sorry that i implied that Doug was denying my belief that there was older tradition of writing before Babel. But historical difficulties are implicit in the event of the Language Confusion. We can well imagine that for some time all sorts of ways of reinventing writing were invented in different places. Now Egypt, and trading peoples around the area such as the Phoenicians and Greeks, would perhaps take an interest in finding ways to correspond between trading and negotiating parties. Thus, I guess, some sort of alphabet. This time of Joseph is crucial for developing a better understanding of history. Doug found some cool stuff there!

Dr Petrovich, I think if we go mathematically about the sojourn, I don't think it is fit the narrative that Israel under the bondage for 430 years. But if we take into the account of Septuagint where it mention in Exo 12:40 which include Canaan, then from the time of Abraham received the promise until the time of Exodus would make more sense. In fact, Paul quoted the sojourn period which indirectly imply Canaan where the promise related to the sojourn period from the time of Abraham received the promise. Plus, in Septuagint, Exo 12:40 also mentioned Canaan in the sojourn.

Thanks very much for your encouraging lecture. I believe God is a 100 percent speaking biblical truth through it. I had prayer points about the language and letters that God used for example when giving the ten commandments. Don't ever feel discouraged. Take hope and continue.

Unfortunately your dates are off. It contains a very common misunderstanding that the Israelites were in Egypt for 430 years. That is incorrect. That passage actually refers to Abraham and descendents would be wanderers in lands (without a permanent home) for 430 years. Jacob entered Egypt in 1672BC and the Exodus was in 1457 BC. Proof? The life spans of all the descendants of Jacob listed do NOT add up to 430 years - only about 250 years.

I had just finished reading the book of Genesis the other day and noted that during the famine, Joseph had authority over Caanan. What I have learned, and I’m not 100% on this, but the Phoenicians lived in caanan, right? And so, didn’t the Hebrews and Greeks get their alphabet from the Phoenicians?

Not easy to follow his interpretations. 42:19 I read possibly Bait (house) KRM (noble), but it could be BTK (your house) RMAS (Ramesses?), so it could mean "your house belong to Ramesses", depend what we decide to identify as word, its beginning and ending.

I first heard about Dr. Petrovich's research when I was studying Linguistics more than 5 years ago. So, the question remains . .. what is the relationship then between the Phoenician alphabet and Hebrew. Did they borrow theirs from the Hebrews?

It sounds like a wonderfully interesting book. It is $966 on Amazon. I will never get to see it. I'm glad to know that treating the Bible as truth yields such insights and discoveries. As believers, we know the Bible is true but there are those who doubt, there are those who call it allegorical, and of course, non-believers don't believe. Treating the Bible as straightforward truth bears the most fruit. A fascinating talk, though I could not follow it very well, due to my lack of education on the subject. Like much in science, we can only trust the expert but it's nice to know this expert believes the Bible.

I need to point this out because there is a discrepancy.. Gen 37 clearly says that Yaakov was still living in the Hevron Valley when he sent Yoseph to check on the welfare of his brothers up north. So while Yaakov had earlier in his travels spent time in Bet El for a few months, he clearly lived next to Hevron from when he came home to take care of his aging father after returning from Lavan's house. He did not dwell next to Bet El. I have nothing against Bet El. I live about 7 kms south of Bet El, but it certainly is not Hevron...

I appreciate very much your research into the Paleo-Hebrew alphabet and that you have made the PDF publicly available. Thank you. This video is very informative. I do have some comments. - Sinai labels for the archaelogical finds are likely beyond your ability to assign, but this misnomer is a modern anachronism; Egyptians called the land Antti or something which is one designation for East. To give it the name assigned by Helena in 300 AD is quite absurd. - The Biblical timeline is also questionable, which makes all of the conclusions of your translations a bit tenuous. Abraham in total had 400+ years of sojourn before the land would become his. Joseph lived about 90 years in Egypt and thereafter, the House of Jacob lived another 100 years or so. That is, 200 years in Egypt of the total of 400 years of sojourn. - The Steele you use describes a group from the Levant, has the number 6, and has the word Bethel. Abraham had sons by three women, had a initial tie to the word Bethel, and his Midian relationship gave him six sons. It is just as likely as your hypothesis that this was written by Abraham or one of these six sons. - If you review the Tel Hamman airburst event (Sodom and Gomorrah), they are dating it to approximately 1650 BC. Such dating techniques do not account for the endogenous inclusion of "airburst alterations to carbon" so it is possible that it would be older, say 1850 BC. My question is how are you dating the Steele to 1840 BC, and with such accuracy. Are you anchoring to the fiercely debated dynasty histories of the Pharoahs? Or something else? - For creating an accurate time-anchor, you need to use a more recent event (Solomon) and then go backwards in history from there. Solomon in his youth very likely lived in Egypt, his first wife was Egyptian, and he devised a strategy to address the piracy at the strait of Aden bringing him fame and fortune as King of Israel and to other leaders in the region. Everyone was getting rich. He created a navy to escort the merchant ships to facilitate trade, that is, he developed a holy-war for justified violence. His name was Shashaq (AKA Shashanq I without the "n") and his cartouche identifies exactly what he did: he designed a water way (island) to allow fields to exchange by bringing the god-right sanctioned violence to defend/protect the merchants at Ta-ir-shesh (Jabal al-Tair Island ... Sabaim ). I believe that would place Solomon at about 950 BC. From this anchor, Joseph would be about 1250-1400 BC, placing Abraham at about 1650-1850 BC. - A back-translation of "considers the lilies" by Yeshua into Paleo-Hebrew will unlock linguistically the link between Solomon and Shashaq (recall, in infancy, the Holy Family fled to Egypt when the library of Alexandria existed; and groups like Jeremiah never left to Babylon nor adopted the post-exilic Hebrew). - Not Biblical Hebrew, but Paleo-Hebrew; that is, the Egyptian language with different mappings of symbols to sounds (water symbol being "ñ" in Egyptian and "mem" or "mayim" in Hebrew). From this, I still have no idea why the "l" (like lion) is suppressed in the Egyptian language. There are a few uses, but very seldom. It is also interesting that the "a" has many different birds whereas the bovine symbol is Hebrew. Egyptians considered there to be sacred cows, so was the "a" and "l" intentionally/culturally removed from the language out of honor? - The challenge for apologists is to recognize that the Kohen/Deutoronomists/Masoretes have significantly altered the text for editorial motivations. Consider the story of Josiah. Or the Passover, or the golden calf narrative at Sinai. The Septuagint shows these narratives were significantly altered. When you try to massage a translation to fit Genesis/Exodus, you are forgetting that Genesis/Exodus was previously massaged. Shashaq has historicity which the Deutoronomists intentionally tried to downplay as Ex 19:6 marrying outside the House of Jacob was WRONG! If you read the omniscient judgments of Solomon in Kings/Chronicles you can see the editorializations! You will progress more if you can overcome the embedded "inerrancy" belief: transcend that belief to "every error herein was a clue God left for us because He knew we could figure it out!" There were two known parties participating in the Messiah Death Event (Rome and the House of Jacob), so any PR efforts by these two groups AFTER need to be carefully scrutinized. - I enjoy your relationship to Mother Russia. "da-cha" and the like. Russians may have been a group of the "lost tribes" ... black sea northward. My son's mother is from Pavlodar along the Ir-tesh river (an Egyptian word meaning "river boundary/border"). I wouldn't be surprised if "da-cha" or "ta-cha" is also derived from ancient Egyptian. I see a correlation with the Tupí/Guaraní word "chacra" as "cha-caa-yah". - If you want to expand your understanding of Joseph in Egypt, consider the "tet-tet" the clay of all clays he used to develop a geo-polymer that was later used in South America "ti-ti caca" and "ti-wanaka" with the "tor-tor" bulrush. Please check out Tamil language whose lipi is dated back 500 BC, it is still continuously spoken and written till date, which has lot of literature which are 2000 years old.

According to the DSS, the Septuigint, the Samaritan Penteteuch and the writings of Josephus, the Exodus occurred in the 1620's B.C. Only the corrupted Masoretic Text puts it later. This is perhaps missing your main points, but just for the record it should be noted. This is some interesting history and teaching, and using the sources I just mentioned would probably move your date for the first proto-Hebrew writing back to an even earlier date. Thank you.

I would love to know more info on the dates for the Israelites’ sojourn in Egypt. The length agrees with what God said in His Word.

Perhaps Joseph's sons or whoever it was that wrote this thing were having to adapt or reinvent some form of writing. It is confusing to me, but I can't help but imagine that it was more than oral tradition before all that. Book of Enoch? Accounts in 'Jasher' or Rabbinic traditions of pre-flood fathers teaching their sons writing? Was long living blessed Shem, (Melchizedek was his code name?) just twiddling his thumbs or working very hard to teach people after the language dispersion how to adapt and how to preserve the Truth that eventually Moses compiled in the Book of Genesis? Maybe I missed something, but I will listen some more. I understand that you worked very hard and have discovered something significant. I appreciate and respect people like you. Perhaps as a non-scientist and a non-scholar I only have the artistic fuzzy type imaginative mentality that just wonders about what really went on in so called 'pre-history' which is to say, 'pre-language-confusion-and-after'. If there really was a book 'Jasher', it would seem to be as the name implies a continuous multi-generational account, and Abraham would have contributed to it. But Moses, the master historian of his day, with much extensive material preserved by the Levitical tribe that he rediscovered his roots from, was like God drawing a line in the sand about what was sacred in history, the pivotal event of the Exodus being in which Moses' God proved authority actually began the Canon, with the other writings which preceded coming to take a more supplemental status, many of which were lost anyway. Job was preserved. Maybe the non canonical history book of Jasher somewhat survived the Spanish inquisition and the difficulties of recopying damaged copies hidden for years in those and other difficult times. I think the ancient Hebrews were familial reverent historians, and the later Jews were humbled inquisitive researchers into comparing notes with those God forced them to learn from. Thus, maybe, some of the stories in 'Jubilees', a most exasperating book, though, I must say. Now that might be a 'historical novel'.

These are excellent findings and interpretations! Even more ancient writings are known closer to Noah's flood- about the flood. They are at Noah's shipbuilding site, at the final resting place of the ship, and at the burial sites of Shem, Ham, and Japheth.

How do we know the Egyptians didn't use the Hebrew language as a template? How do we know he doesn't have it bass ackwards? When God divided the tongues at Babel, logic would suggest that someone kept the original language. I've always suspected that Hebrew was the original language of Adam & Eve.

Hebrew "Aleph" is the same letter as modern "A". "Hey" is "E". "Yod" is "I" (and "J" and "Y"). "Ayin" is "O". "Vav" is "U" (and "V" and "W" and "F")... so the same letters we call vowels are in Hebrew... its just that the Greeks decided to call those vowels... but saying Hebrew doesn't have vowels isn't entirely true - since those very same letters come from Hebrew...

If the book wasn't so mind bogglingly expensive, I might consider getting it. Heck, just a clean version of the chart by itself would be a great resource. I really like some of these early letter forms and want to try expressing, say, the first few chapters of Genesis or the 10 commandments in the script it was likely written in, but $1K for a book seems ludicrous. Even the college textbook racket doesn't gouge that hard.

Hebrew was not the first alphbet. Sumerians had writing in Sumerian long before any semetic person stepped foot in mesopotamia. The Cuneiform writing also represents sounds.
