This was a great documentary. It is thought-provoking and a little surprising to learn that HIV/AIDS has been around for roughly a century! It makes me wonder what else is smoldering and waiting for the right circumstances to escape into the wider world?
There was British sailor who presented at a hospital with Karposi's sarcoma and other 'classic' symptoms of AIDS in 1961. The hospital couldn't give a definitive diagnosis, so they preserved some of his tissue. It was tested in the 90's I believe and found to be HIV. He had just returned from Africa.
My mom said she thinks my grandpa had Aids back in the 70's and die..If you think about it even in the 80's people could live for years and not know. So it's not like how it looks. People didn't get sick and die and if they did how long did they have it?
