How many accidents happen because of the ELDs. Drivers are racing, like they have a gun to their head.

Not only carriers. FMCSA need to regulate brokers too and warehouses too. What about when they take almost half of your log book while loading and unloading. And if you’re late they take heavy fines from rate cons. This is the only reason truckers have to cheat because of all this crap
@SweetBearCub
@SweetBearCub 6 месяцев назад
I agree. There needs to be a system that is fair to both the shippers and the drivers wherein if the shippers/receivers take more time than is reasonable to load, unload, or process a driver in/out, they have to pay what he would have made if the wheels were turning. I doubt it'll ever happen, but I'd certainly push for it if I was ever in political office.

100% the driver had a choice to drive illegal. But what the news isn't putting out there is that the driver of the party bus was driving on a suspended license. Who drives dwn the interstate at 44mph with your headlights out is beyond me.

Be honest with us though… it’s a lot more enticing to break the law specifically because logs are so dangerous compared to not having to abide to retarded hours. You can’t just drive 11 hours and sleep 10 hours and expect to actually sleep at all…. You need to be awake for at least 14-16 hours before you can easily fall asleep. Then, if you just slept and drove 5-7 hours, now you’re allowed to take another 10 and go back to driving. Absolutely insane. Paper AND Electronic logs *KILL PEOPLE* for sure.
@Unduplicatable

8:49 if this is true, then I drive drunk all the time. I hate the FMCSA with every possible possibility of my existence. The FMCSA is identical to Satan. I just want to sleep according to *MY SCHEDULE* not the government’s and not my company’s.
@dsmguy2187
@dsmguy2187 6 месяцев назад
@@Unduplicatable never been enticing to break the law. Be honest though. How many drivers actually get a full rest on there 10hr break? How many drivers go to sleep while their stuck in the loading dock 5-6hrs?

As someone that has always run Outlaw OTR, even with eld. I never do, or did it, to push past being tired, or run unsafe at all. That said I am fully aware that even being in an accident not my fault can wreck serious havoc to my life, and if a death is involved it most likely prison, even not your fault. This happened to a friend in 98. This dice roll used to not be so shaky, these days? with all the imbecile truck drivers? each year has me doing it less and less...roll easy brothers.

Trucking could be such a beautiful profession were it not for the paper tiger FMCSA and the sleepy OOIDA, and its like. There are other industries that require training and licenses (CDL, DOT) that actually maintain standards for the companies and professionals that work in the industry. People like Cash and DIYSemi are examples of solid, ethical professionals in the industry, but the industry has been poisoned by foreign con artists and fraudsters, who abused H2B visas to bring over incompetent drivers to flood the market over the last decade. If the FMCSA was a gatekeeper, they'd bar these foreign operators and set limits on who could start a trucking company and hire drivers. So now, we have massive overcapacity with foreign carriers and drivers running $1.50 a mile freight. Further, the honest small carriers pay the increased insurance for nuclear verdicts caused by foreign-based fraud and incompetent drivers. I'm not against foreign born legal immigrants...many are the heart of many industries and make this country stronger. But the trucking industry has been damaged by lax enforcement and rulemaking by FMCSA, and honest, hardworking carriers pay the price for it.

If they're running ELD Rider, Optima ELD, or whatever Triton is using, those owners will change your log book immediately the second your boss tells them. Pulling cheap freight, getting it done in 24 hours by driving 1400 miles in that entire time only stopping to reset your clock... And then doing it again immediately, no sleep, no rest, just red bull, cocaine, pep pills, and threats by some punk with an accent so thick he might as well be speaking another language to keep driving. Not worth it guys. Ps say a prayer for me, injured my back the other day and it's gonna hurt finding work since most places want a fresh medical card...
@Unduplicatable
@Unduplicatable 6 месяцев назад
That’s not always the case. A lot of these companies operate legally yet their schedule sucks because of the rules and regulations, so you’ll be driving sleep deprived despite having been off for 10-15 hours, sometimes 34. The human body is only meant to do so much, and companies are pushing the bounds of sleep not just because it’s legal, but because it’s considered more profitable and safer, despite being neither.
@HunterPBrown
@HunterPBrown 6 месяцев назад
@@Unduplicatable oh no doubt. I don't like that a machine is gonna tell me to drive. Sometimes I'm so wired I could drive 20 hours straight (during covid pulling for P&G and we could throw the rules out the window) and then sleep like a baby without drugging myself... And others I'm forcing myself to sleep taking zzzquil and benedril, then I feel like garbage after I complete my ten and I'm only driving 6 hours before I need a nap

But why would we presume that drivers have a common sense and they understand of danger of being unrested , and everybody are different and isn’t it better to have a rest when your body tells you to do instead of complying a dead stoned scheme 11/14/10. Lots of accidents happened because drivers in a constant hurry, they know that they have to make it because appointment time and drive li lunatics. I personally prefer to drive in moderate speed. Like 55-60, it’s save diesel and makes me feel safe but those damn HOS always sitting in my head and pushing me to speed . I think much more accidents in trucking happening because of speeding than a few accidents of somebody getting asleep behind the wheel.
