In this first video we’re exploring the inspiration behind Sanditon, Jane Austen’s last but unfinished novel. Jane Austen wrote Pride and Prejudice, Sense and Sensibility, Northanger Abbey, Persuasion, Emma and Mansfield Park, but sadly Sanditon was left unfinished in 1817 at the time of her death.
While we’ll never know what Austen intended for Sanditon, we can explore the history behind the fictional seaside town that is now a popular tv show! Learn about the seaside town Jane Austen vacationed at when she was 29 years old and the developing resort it turned into during the Regency era. Speculate with me about the future of what a town like Sanditon could be like into the Victorian era and the inspiration for Sanditon’s architect, Tom Parker!
