Panda Intern here. My boss referred to this thumbnail as some of my "finest work." Is that an insult or a compliment? I guess we'll never know. Anyway, was Smash 4 REALLY as broken as everyone says? We got our SMASH PROS to react to Heeew's video on exactly that!

A lot of problems in 4 could have been avoided had there been a option to turn Rage off in the game settings. At least the game had Smash 4 Marth, which as Leo showed, was such a cool character to watch and play

Nah smash 4 Marth was pretty silly too. Side B was frame 6, already making it better than most characters dash attacks. Jab combos were more free than America. Down throw up air 50/50s, side B kills or 50/50s, jab to hope, fthrow combos corner carried into easy ledge traps, if you're feeling crazy Marth was one of the few characters that could actually go off stage and edge guard. Smash 4 Marth was a point and click adventure. Sincerely, your local Smash 4 Marth main

The last point of this video really rings true. Smash 4 brought so many people into the scene, and Smash really boomed with its release. Before Smash 4, no Smash tournament ever broke 1000 players. Brawl never even broke 500 players. The great scene we have today for Ultimate is largely due to the work people did in the Smash 4 days.

Still somewhat strong in Ult and in 4 was nerfed but rage existed so it didn´t matter as much. Plus Sonic can shield cancel spin :)

Hot Take: Smash 4 is my personal fav smash game. The color choice really made the characters pop and it opened the doors to so many great things. Custom moves are such a great idea (though a pain to unlock and a bit flawed in making them equally viable) and Bayo was so much fun to play. It was like having a Marvel Character in Smash. That being said, they murdered the hell out of my boy DDD. Good thing Ryu and Bayo existed.

I liked Brawl a lot more than Smash 4 for 2 reasons. 1. I only had the 3ds version on a 2ds 2. No Adventure mode

Well technically “smash run” was the “adventure mode” on sm4sh, but was only present in the 3/2ds version imo that mode alone made the 3ds version the superior one

Commenting to say that the two things I'm most upset about in Ultimate are: 1) Smash 4 Mii Gunner not being around anymore. Gunner (especially tiny Gunner) was my jam. You could have two missiles out at once and they travelled at a snail's pace, lasted forever, and turned on a dime. Grenade Launch was amazing. Bomb Drop _exploded_ when you attacked it instead of getting reflected. FAir was an actual button. Down Smash was super cool. Not to mention you had cool costumes like the Steampunk Outfit (which is still in Ultimate but is just worse) and the Mage Outfit (which is _gone_ in Ultimate, for some reason???) I still main Gunner in Ult but the movement nerfs and FAir/Grenade Launch being practically removed is super painful. I'm stuck playing a passive, campy character instead of a character who can aggressively pressure the foe from just outside their reach, chasing them around and putting projectiles on them. 2) Ultimate's input buffer. God, can we just have like, a 6 frame version of the Brawl buffer? Much better than Ult's absolutely nonsensical input priority system that requires you to remember an entire chart just to control your character.

Sm4sh, the game that made almost exclusively positive changes to gameplay since Brawl, AND introduced Mega Man, Ryu, Cloud, and so many more. The fact that we look back on this and think “it was kinda trash tho” says that we’ve been _spoiled rotten_ by Ultimate.

@@fupalover G&W shield is useless, Luigi dash attack is useless, Bowser grab range is a joke, Marth's grab range, Kirby throws, Falcon multi hit jab not working correctly, Ness yo yo glitch, Roy, Ice climbers freeze glitch and Woobleling, all melee glitches as a whole, CGs to some extent, and far more, but those are the quickest that come to my mind, Melee is broken, but that doesnt mean its a bad game.

Even though Smash 4 did have awesome stuff like Pac-Man, solo Charizard, and some cool stages, it was the weakest of all the smash games and the only one I've never gone back too.

Is Smash 4 honestly weaker than 64? I was under the assumption some of those hitboxes and combos were about as bad as some of the worst combos/confirms in Smash 4. And regardless of similar levels of jank, Smash 4 also had way more content.

@@DaDMonDCB While Smash 4 does have more content, 64 is fun and feels better to play. The classic mode and break the targets in 64 were better, and even though Smash Run was fun, it was only on 3DS and Smash Tour is awful. Smash 4 had more characters, stages, modes, and online options, but content doesn't matter if the game isn't fun.

@@bullseye- Brawl is far, far better than Smash 4 when it comes to casual content. Subspace, a Classic mode that made sense, trophy rush, the ability to play classic games, and custom stages. Competitively Smash 4 is more balanced but it lacks a lot of the unique character mechanics that Brawl had that kind of made up for it.

Ima says it till the day I die, brawl had the biggest gap between character tiers. Meta knight and Ice climbers were the best and if you mained any other character, you couldn't win. Even in casual! (Not so much ice climbers) but mach tornado was just stupid I swear.

Smash 4 was a much better game before Cloud and Bayo came along. Not as good as Melee or Ultimate, but even at its worst, smash 4 was never as broken as Brawl

I’d say Brawl was worst from a competitive standpoint, but overall I think smash 4 had more fun-canceling flaws. I laugh about brawl, I roll my eyes at smash 4

It depends on how you look at most broken. I think Smash 4 is the most broken because it is the only one of the Smash games that nobody will willingly go back and play, and it would have happened with or without Ultimate thanks to Bayo.

Bayonetta ruin this game. It wasn't smash 4 fault, Japanese players didn't complain about bayo and they know how to beat her. There is less bayo players in Japan. As for Europe I like their competitive scene because they ran with 3 stocks in the tournament

And it's annoying how the same scene killed a perfectly good game stop calling it broken when most of the scene never played on form maps making the game more like traditional fighters giving it the replay value it deserves ultimate is more dead due to the sorry ass dramatic finishes I still prefer rage any day I main Ryu and play actual fighting games not just bullshit

Bayo is probably more frustrating but meta knight was on another level they straight up had to ban certain things the character could do to make him usable.

@@DylanMatthewTurner Not even close. Characters could be viable in Sm4sh for a number of reasons . In Brawl, it's literally: Is your character good against Meta Knight? No? Then not viable, sorry.
