By far the best n54 build of all time. True supercar that's practical and well under 100k low maintenance. If I had to start all over again I would build mine exactly the same. As for all the comments about not building it yourself. From someone that does everything himself. People don't understand how much work goes in to production. Your content would not be as good if you were constantly wrenching on your projects. I try to do it all. I find myself always in the garage and too burnt out to promote my channel work on the cars and working fulltime. I'm sure u make way more money in promoting your brand and production than the money I saved working on my own car. Keep doing what your doing its working. Your able to spend more time enjoying what you do than slaving in the garage. Respect the grind Hugh. Ht customz
Appreciate the kind words and understanding my grind. The truth is, I don't have time to play the trial and error game of doing big jobs. Sure I work on smaller jobs (on and off camera) but my goal has always been to help and educate like minded enthusiasts. So if that means me filming someone else doing the work so I can get my audience better, more engaging footage while being able to explain the process, then bring on the hate. Running a full blown business while already wearing multiple hats is taxing! 6-7 days a week 9am-9PM while also trying to reply to most of my dedicated viewers is a handful. Maybe I don't spend 5-10 hours installing a turbo kit on my car, but I do spend 20 hours on average on one video for you guys to enjoy! Believe it or not, even with me not working on the bigger jobs, I still don't have time to truly enjoy my cars because I'm making content for all of you. That said I enjoy every moment of my career and I wouldn't change a thing. You guys made it all possible and I'm forever grateful ❤️
@@VehicleVirals I appreciate the reply. I'm looking to get some track time at the Firm in Starke Fl. mid December or early January. You Ali and friend's should come out and rep the bmw community with me. Should also make some great content as it will be a real Gran Torismo like experience. It will also get you more familiar with the new set up. Keep grinding and thank you for your contribution to the community.
1:12 Guys remember if you get tired of that HKS high pitched noise, remove the fins and you get a really loud woosh instead. One of my favorite things about HKS how you can change the sound
@@VehicleVirals HKS uses fins/inserts on the bov vent side in order to get that high pitched noise, think of it as like a t51r mod BOV. They even sell the fins to change the sound or you can just remove it completely. Kind of hard to explain what I mean but heres a video, pretty cool if you ask me ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-HblCEQXQ8Q4.html
What impressed me the most is that you said the engine is completely stock and you bought it at 136,000 miles (?), "clapped out," and it makes 720 WHP!? SHIT BRO. There is a 2007 BMW 335i, RWD and Manual Transmission, for sale in my area. The asking price is a little much, but it has 114,000 miles and it is car fax verified one owner, clean title, NO ACCIDENTS REPORTED, and 24 service records found. I originally was going to use my daily as a trade in for a new GR Corolla, but after some reality check, it may not be the best idea. I want to purchase the car as a project car before the frickin' auto industry goes all "ELeCtRiC." But I don't want to spend the money to buy the car cash upfront, AND THEN END UP NEEDING THE SAME AMOUNT OF MONEY JUST TO GET RUNNING RIGHT (if it's in bad shape, since I haven't went to check it out). What do you think? Is the E90 a platform worth starting out in or should I just bite the bullet and save money to buy a brand new car up front in like 10,000 years...? Any opinions and information is appreciated, especially if you've owned a car like the one I'm looking at for a while. Thanks!
Ouch....been with you since close to day one. Loved my e93 335i but I sold it a few months back and bought a used Tesla Model S. Still love a nicely done BMW, always will. But the longer I own this Tesla the less going back to tuning a BMW to be rowdy makes sense. The maintenance and headaches aren't fun at all. That is indeed a ton of money to sink into an N54!!!
Whoever says that money would be better spent on a f80 m3, m4 or even a new m5 is crazy and dunno what they are talking about ….. these cars when done right are better and faster than those cars would ever be. Those s55 motors have crank hub issues and cost like 5k plus to fix just so you can tune the car. Then you gotta insure those m cars and maintain them. Having a car like Christian’s is like beating the system all the while smoking cars that are double or triple the price in cost while you laugh as they stare at your tail lights. Btw 26k for parts seems cheap ! Great job !
Great video. Thanks for all of the info and ideas. I just purchased an E90 325i for an absolute steal and plan on doing some reasonable mods. I'm not really trying to make it crazy fast (I'll get into a different model later on for that), just keep it reliable and smooth. That said, I'll be hitting you up for some items of they are available through your website. Keep up the good work. It's inspiring.
They don't mod n52 or n51 much, trust me i tried. you can do intake, exhaust, and tune. You could try headers if you don't need emissions. The last upgrade you can do is Milvs but this is expensive and you need a pro
@@jamestabat5412 intake, exhaust, and tune are the only things I plan on doing besides refreshing the suspension. Any other mods will be asthetic or retrofitting for newer tech. I've seen people installing superchargers on them, but I don't see the point on that particular platform.
@@aznerol0770 Yeah the supercharger kit was $5k last time i checked and it didn't even break 300 crank hp. And the motor is nearly ready to explode at that point lol but if you have an N52 you can still upgrade to catted headers and 3 stage intake. I have N51 which comes with 3 stage but AFE wouldn't recommend the N52 headers on it
ID4Motion needs functions like the AKMotion Datadisplay to show boost, ignotion correction etc. then i‘ll buy it but only as cluster replacement too expensive 😢
You need to get come clean and add in the labor because you didn't do it all yourself. Labor included you're talking $70k. But I've enjoyed every minute of it. 🤣😁🤣.
Ouch that’s a lot but I’m probably half way there with you buddy I’d say I’m at least 25k in parts for my e92 single turbo build 😩 stuff starts snowballing so quickly in the name of performance lol
I’m going to get a lot of flack for this, but BMWs standard shift knobs aren’t very comfortable, as coming from Volvo I was surprised how unergonomic they are.
He should do a build series with the three german luxury cars Audi, Bmw, and Mercedes. Put the same money into them and see what's best. I think that would be entertaining
What would it take to talk ya into getting an N54 Z4 roadster to build? I have a 2010 Z4 thats so much fun to drive I only have 57k on mine. I love your channel and would love to see ya build a Z4.
Well. Form what i see , you made the car reliable . But thats à big price to pay for an old car but ... still looks cool and the fun must be worth it in the end
Tbh I don’t think that’s bad at all,…you now have very clean bmw that’ll outrun most things you’ll meet on the road and it’s all been done to your taste. You can’t buy a Supra for the total you’ve invested
yooo ..i need ur help since ur the best e90 expert. the other day, my 06 e90 started turning on slowly. then on 3rd day, the ignition doesn’t turn on at all. all the lights and computer still works though. i thought it was the battery so i bought a new one and swapped out but still no start at all. I also took my old battery to local auto store and tested it. it was good still. so that rules out battery. do u think it’s the STARTER MOTOR? can an OBD2 reader scan for starter issue? which OBD2 scanner do u recommend? Thanks for your time.
Or someone could spend $200k or more to get the same power from a turnkey car…and it wouldn’t be as unique either. Now, I’m shocked u spent $2300 on headlights but hey, to each his own lol.
Nice car but $46k nice ? You be you. If you have the money from your RU-vid content and its part of your channels base....well I guess the public at large can make their minds up on whether it was worth the money.
N54 engine is crap, I've had a few.. how you could even remotely consider picking a 335 to build out is beyond me (or reason and rational thought) they're JUNK.
Bro n54 are beast motors I have had several and it's absolutely needs to be maintained correctly in order to be handling such HP. Sorry for your experience with these motors.
No!! It's not worth it! Considering that money could be invested to make you money! This is not even including the labor cost. It's just a situation, where you only have one life to live, and if it makes you happy, you do it. But in reality, it's stupid. There are many businesses, or retirement plans that money could go into. But I'm 45 years old and you kiddies in your 20s think that putting 50k into a 10k value car is worth it. performance shops make their living off you
@@VehicleVirals obviously for you lol. Not the average tuner. You make money from your content/views. I put 30k into my Acura integra in the early 2000s; didn't make me jack shit except get the attention of thieves.
46k $ you wont even get a new 2023 car with that much feature and power. This is the way I see it, and this is why I'm building a E91 fully loaded with n54 ST swap, 6mt. I dont want a minivan. my break down (In cad$) : 6mt e91 : 4000$ . 09' 335 m pack fully loaded : 7000$ . DKM : 2000$. ST kit 6260 : 7000$. wheels and misc : 2500$. Sell part : -2000$ . 20 500$ cad, and a blast of fun.
That thing is so clean it’s insane. That price makes me scared to go single turbo 😂 but you got the best of the best on everything so I figure it can be done alil more budget friendly without being a clapper
You can't turbo an e90 328i past like 15 psi and 350hp without blowing it to the moon. Even that is an extreme custom mod. These cars aren't turbo or meant to be
Damn lol, I have maybe 4k invested in performance mods on my N54 and am pushing 550whp on an ots tune. With meth and custom tune I'm doing over 600whp+ all day. If I spent that much money, I'd be at TX2K with my 335i lol. Granted you did a lot of cosmetic stuff too.
It is undeniably clean.., that’s for sure! But the sad part, and the reality of the matter is that no one..,(let me rephrase that..,”at least me”) Would never pay more than 30k TOP! Because of course, (1) I’m broke. (2) you can get a nicer more reliable platform than a N54, (even though I myself own one and have owned 2 previous ones “135i” 2008 convertible 689whp. and 2009 hardtop one 390 and my current one is a 2008 328i wagon manual with a full n54 swap, from engine to muffler and literally.. everything else from a 335i with 70k in that motor and transmission, 124k on the body (MHD stage 2+,400whp or so..🤔🤔🤔) and anyways..(3) that car has way to much miles on a stock full bolt-ons motor..!!! Is it beautiful?, Yes. Is it safe?, Yes. Is it dependable?, Maybe. Is it reliable..? So far. How long till actually blows up.??? Undoubtedly.., soon ( well maybe a little longer but, when you start to enjoy the sauce than have been added on that high mileage engine..😬😬😱🤭🤯🥺 But kudos to you man For giving that car the life that he deserves with all of those upgrades, just wish the motor had at least 65k. That would had made the car even more reliable and to have the value of a newer M3 which is what 45k can get you into..! 👊🏽
I think a 2jz swap would have been cheaper and still hit these numbers . Could recoup lots of the money by selling all the N54 stuff. No hate but come on guys. 2j been proven. I have a e93 N54 and a e46 330i . If I were to drop this kind of money I would just 2j it. Would be less running costs long term.
And I’m over here complaining about the 15k I’ve put into my 07 Range Rover Sport Supercharged 😅 which by the way I’ve been trying to sell for 7k but still am yet to have found a serious buyer with a serious interest for her…🤯🤦🏻♂️
Well spent Christian… I’m really happy for you and enjoyed watching the journey! Thanks for being bold and pushing the limits. Keep doing what your doing … Shout out to SwapDepot Jesss!
