This was a super fun one to film for us because it's a Twitch reunion! This is the OG team behind Twitch and I'm so excited to share with all of your all our interesting stories, the good times and the bad.
you guys remind me of my team. haha we're in way in over our heads but we are passionate and we love what we do. somehow it's working!! Hi from Jamaica. 🇯🇲
i was yelling "FITNESS IS THE FIRST STEP TO GREATNESS" Emmett got it. Y'all should run a Justin.tv trivia contest, i would so win. would like: transcend addiction most likely: addiction for bad what's your vote?
Listened to this whole video. The thing that stuck out the most is around 1:58:00 when Michael is talking about money to joy conversion. A friend told me in my 20’s (who was way smarter than me) There are two ways to be wealthy... 1. Work insanely hard & make tons of money. 2. Want less. I now know he was talking about wanting less material things that won’t convert to or sustain your joy. At 50 I struggle to get by plus put everything back into my stream just to keep it going. I enjoy it just as much as I did making a six figure salary as a graphic designer in my 20’s. When I would just blast money on random stuff like $4,000 TV’s & a custom car made just for me from the factory to fill my ego. Now, time with my wife, kids, improving my health & sending out positivity on my Twitch stream is my most valuable day to day conversion to joy. These motivate me to get out of the bed everyday. I can say for certain these things have a huge daily effect on the high amount of joy in my life. Much ❤️🤘
It's amazing to hear A/B testing being used all the way back then. Some companies still neglect running them even when the positives outweigh the negatives.
I watched the fulll 2 hours, it's a first for me on youtube, i guess your chemistry really made me forget about time, thanks for the videos and for creating twitch guys !
@@Addicus_brown Software engineering with a minor in chemistry/chemical engineering. I'm comfortable with multiple programming languages (machine/assembly, verilog, C#, C++, Java, Python, HTML w/ JavaScript). I have a strong knowledge of how Unix operating systems work. I'm okay with databases including SQl and NoSQL. I've taken courses on software verification, validation, testing and design, as well as machine learning, and software architecture. I'm also experienced with thermodynamics, material balance, organic chemistry, fluid dynamics, and batch processing. I program Android apps and make Minecraft mods for fun. I don't have any real specialty, but my goal for the next five years is to become an expert in one part of the field of computer science.
Michael Seibel: this is what YC Startup School should include 😭 you have no idea how founders who LOVE entrepreneurship but are remote geographically/culturally/etc are THIRSTY for this mental engagement! This is what I was looking for at SUS Virtual co-working but didn't find - because, like you mention, 50% of people are after getting-rich-quick schemes. There's no place in the world that helps founders like me, find these engaging conversations. I thought SUS virtual co-working would do it. I don't know how Joan can do it - but isn't it worth considering?🤷
Watched the entire thing, this is a great aspect of experiencing startups. Just chilling and reminiscing on the crazy past that happened with your buds. I really wished these videos got more views because it's really good real talk content.

Man I really love this conversation You guys had. It really makes me wish I could see what your old intense “Yale” debates were like without the filter for RU-vid 😂😂 lots of free wisdom in this one and I think I’ll apply some of it in my life today 💪
I have no interest in taxing unrealized gains. My problem lies where the corporations like blue origin asking for a 10 billion dollar bailout. I'm not American but why should Americans subsidize one of the richest men in the world while paying virtually nothing in taxes?
Justin could you do a special show with that developer who came up with the pro feature? Whatever happened to him? I hope he had some equity and got taken care of. I’m sure you took care of him. I always loved how Woz took care of his early team after Steve Jobs did them wrong. I’m working with Woz and his team on a TV limited series based on his iWoz autobiography
37:00 Just a note that GDP is not everything produced in the country (or, in this case, globally), but everything purchased by consumers. The Global Output is a few times that.
I like to think of myself as an optimist, but as a realist, it's probably going to be addiction for bad. Can't wait to see Coca Cola pivot to brain-computer interfaces...
I remember watching these guys when they first started JTV and they didn't have a business plan. Then a few years later they sold the company for almost a billion dollars. Just goes to show you that a business plan and all those business school jargon is BS. You just have to go for it and make it happen.
