The penalty for Rangers was 100% correct decision. People that say Johnston got the ball first, he didn’t. Silva played the ball onto his foot, at speed. Johnston had a split second to react, didn’t know anything about it, and raised his foot and caught Silva on the knee. You can clearly see on the replay when the ball hits Johnston’s foot, his foot is still planted on the ground. So he didn’t get the ball at all. He then raises his foot and catches Silva. Johnston did not win possession of the ball. Only Celtic fans don’t believe it’s a penalty. All the neutrals say it was. Could you imagine if it was the other way around, and VAR didn’t step in. Imagine if the same thing happened with Maeda.. and John Beaton gave a yellow card for diving, and VAR didn’t step in this time. Celtic fans would have had an absolute meltdown

For me Johnston tried to catch The Rangers player out and left his leg high on purpose intending to pull his leg away at the last moment. Johnston got his timing wrong and The Rangers player made contact and fell down, Johnston was out foxed. Was there enough contact on the ball from Johnston to prevent it being a foul? Was there enough contact by The Rangers player to prevent him retaining the ball and justify falling down? Then we have the question no-one will never know the answer to, if Johnston managed to pull his trailing leg away on time would The Rangers player still have gone down? None of which Bobby the jobby has mentioned or even considered, thank fuck he has retired! Bobby also had the luxury of watching the re-runs of how The Rangers player was diving all over the park. He thinks Johnston's contact on the ball was not enough to prevent his tackle from being a foul. But viewed The Rangers contact on Johnston and regarded that contact as having a enough force for The Rangers player to fall to the ground and it was not simulation? Did The Rangers player ever intend to get the ball or was he aways going to play for a foul? Well would he have got the ball or would the wind have blown the player over as he was falling over all over the park? For me Johnston gave away a penalty trying to out fox The Rangers player but ended up out foxing himself. I don't like the way Bobby the jobby has viewed and justified the penalty award as that was a 50/50 decision and these decision usually go to the home team. As I would expect those 50/50 decision to go in favour of the home team at our ground!
