Was the Salvation worth it? (wilba.tech x Salvun Salvation keyboard)

Slice Of My Life: I received my Salvation after almost 2 years.
Shame that it took so long to be fulfilled - My opinion is that it was a game-changer when protos and review units were sent out to reviewers to check out, but between the GB to fulfilment, it was quickly outclassed by other keyboards that were released at a cheaper price point and offered bouncier / flexier mounting styles.
If the Salvation wasn't plagued by the anodizing hell it faced, I personally might have enjoyed it much more. 2 years is too long - the custom mechanical keyboard hobby really boomed over that period. Plus... even after all of that, the anodizing isn't as good as some other cheaper keyboards.

I loved this video. Thanks Man. I have been seeing many reviews on this keyboard and I am 50/50 going to purchase it. Please may you give me an honest opinion if this keyboard sounds hollow with no foam and if it is worth the price? Also should I purchase this keyboard or the qk65 based on worthy price? Thanks, also subbed 👍

This keyboard has no hollowness that I detect. It’s a really dense and clean sounding keyboard, but very much on the “clacky” sound profile. It’s not a very good comparison if you want to pit it against the QK65 because of the following reasons (and these are personal reasons): - the Salvation is 60%, QK65 is 65% - the Salvation is not a mass produced keyboard unlike the QK65 Overall quality and attention to detail is much higher in the Salvation, as well as the trademark mounting style. The QK65 on the other hand features a rather standard gasket mount and with all of the layers of foam, the sound profile can end up being quite common - the typical foamy, poppy, marbly sound. However in terms of value for money, I can’t argue that any QK keyboard offers more value for money vs a Salvation, unless you are someone that appreciates the quality machining and worksmanship of the Salvation. Hope that helps!

What an interesting mount but 2 years man, sorry to hear you had to wait such a long time. I came across one of these on ebay recently so had to find some vids to see what it was about, great vid! Also just wondering, are index finger rings a trend in the keyboard community lol, I have never seen them so much as I do in keyboard reviews.

Idk about the rings, I’ve been wearing index rings for years now, way before I started getting into keyboards. Oh? You came across the Salvation on eBay? Why not consider purchasing from Salvun directly? I believe there’s stock still available!

Oh you're right there is stock, although after watching some reviews I'll likely pass on this one, super interesting board tho. And yea it was just something I noticed with many keyboard creators, all good : )@@avgsgn

The anodization blemishes are where they used hooks to anodize batches with. Unlike most other premium brands, this board was made with the expectation of an unlimited group buy, so some compromises had to be made. Overall though, just for the ingenuity of the board, and the fact that it’s far easier to do different builds with it (example: you can drop in a 60HE PCB + wooting switches or a plateless custom w/ lubed switches), I’d have to say it was one of the best purchases I made. Just a little bit sad I had to wait so long lol. I’m also a bit confused about your disappointment with the bounce. Perhaps try plateless? The only other board I’ve had that was more bouncy was the Owlabs Spring, and even then that felt like it was on the verge of “too bouncy”. Also the expectation of using foam with it + the overly done cutouts on the PCB made it sound p dead to me.

Thanks for sharing all your thoughts! One of the best comments I’ve received. I’m with you 100% on the long wait. Perhaps I’m just not much of a fan of 60% boards. To be honest, I’m now using a BM60EC PCB with the case but it’s really “tight”. (I’m someone who needs dedicated arrow keys.) In terms of the bounce - I own a Spring, as well as the Akko SPR67 which used springs underneath. Perhaps it was a subconscious expectation I had because of the multiple times reviewers used the word “trampoline” to describe the bounciness of the Salvation’s mounting system - so in my mind, it being not as bouncy as the other two keyboards is where my disappointment stems from. Going plateless would, in my opinion, not increase “bounce”, but rather, add more of a vibration. However, if I used the stock items and went plateless, I would also lose the awesome reflectiveness of the plate.

Do you have any recommendations for a bouncier/flexier 60%? I can't seem to find any.

Looks like this is super bouncy and flexy. I was planning to buy one from novelkeys as they're on sale for 200 right now but wayyyyyy too flexy for me. Maybe consider this one lol...

Looked like a fun build despite the issues, sounded okay, and the apao was cool. The wuben knight was a perfect backdrop item for the video. Thanks for the upload, loved the presentation break with the nature accents also.

1. Build it Plateless... There is no other keyboard that feels more like a trampoline 2. You re actually the first one i saw out here with such problems at all

Thanks for the comment and taking the time to watch my vid! 1. I might do it when I get my hands on a 60% solder pcb. However, I beg to differ about your opinion regarding the “trampoline” feel - i own an SPR67 as well as a Spring and they are both crazy bouncy and I dare say that the most “trampoline-like” keyboard I have is the Spring. 2. I’ve seen many others raise issues about the finishing, but you’re right that I’ve not seen others with the screw port issue. To be honest, I’m not enjoying the Salvation as much as I hoped I would.
