That's the weird thing, how do you balance low manipulation and Moisture???
@evilkermit1222
@evilkermit1222 4 года назад
Catrina D do hair, switch do a deep conditioning treatment or week and the next do a protein treatment. Flat twist/braid/cornrow/put your hair up for the rest of the week until Sunday and throughout the week spray your hair and don’t mess with the style. (I suggest aloe Vera on hair for growth, it works wonders)
@catrinad2491
@catrinad2491 4 года назад
@@evilkermit1222 Deep condition it with the style in? Sorry could you elaborate, this seems really useful , as I too notice that my hair grows the most when I don't touch it. But it's always dry and crispy if I don't moisturise when I take the protective styles down.
@evilkermit1222
@evilkermit1222 4 года назад
Catrina D what I do is every Sunday I take my hair down to wash it, after washing I deep condition and then put what I need in my hair for moisture and re-twist/braid/style it and leave the style alone in until the next week (or even sometimes 2 weeks) throughout the week I spray my hair with some moisturizing oils/ whatever I need in my hair. Once the next Sunday comes up I will take my hair back down do the same thing except that time I’m going to do a protein treatment and then restyle my hair and leave it until the next Sunday or the Sunday after that
@catrinad2491
@catrinad2491 4 года назад
@@evilkermit1222 Ah that makes sense. Are you low or high porosity? I'm just wondering as my hair will only take moisture if I add heat. Thanks for the idea though, I may try and follow something like this and see how my hair does

What I do is this; because I use bucket and bowl, I place my bucket of water on a tall covered paint bucket for height. I place a towel on my neck like they do in salons and I'm good to go. I had to do this because; 1. The water in my area is extremely hard 2. It brings out dirt and 3. My deep conditioner is extremely slippery and I hate the feel on my body.

I have long 4b hair and I feel like I have to use a comb/ brush. If I don't, it will tangle up on me. But once I comb it that one time I don't touch it again until wash day, lol! I'm like you, I braid it in 8/9 sections but I bobby pin them down before I wrap my head with a scarf. I'll have to try washing my hair in twists, if it prevents tangling.

Update:. I washed my hair in twists for the first time and 😞 it did not go well. My hair was super tangled!! I'll stick to opening them in sections, washing each and 3 strand braid them. It worked better for me. If my hair gets an inch, it will tangle up on me, lol.

I notice in a lot of your videos especially hair washing videos you often use regular drugstore products to wash your hair. Can you do a video where you talk about why you choose the products that you do and whether or not people should be spending half the mortgage more expensive brands or if you find that are inexpensive brands work just fine on 4C hair.

By the fourth day after my wash day, my scalp would be on itching gently because I sweat a lot, and I live in a hot, sunny country. By the 7th day(which is my wash day), my scalp will be itching me. The farthest I went without washing my hair was 19 days. By the 19th day, I already had serious wounds on my scalp, my scalp felt like there was live charcoal on my scalp, my edges were falling off and it took me several weeks to get my hair back on track!

How do you deal with single stranded knots ? I also finger detangle but every wash day I have to cut out knots from my fine strands :( I can't believe detangling is that easy for you :o Please show us how you finger detangle in detail?
@NaturalAcademia
@NaturalAcademia 4 года назад
ashley jones Hey !! I’m so glad you were able to find my channel 😊To answer your question on single strand knots, they are COMPLETELY normal and there’s honestly no way to reallyyyy get rid of them.. kinky hair will coil with whatever it wants to coil with. HOWEVER, there are ways to minimize the amount you have on your strands. For example, my hair is ALWAYS braided up and in a ponytail (my ends are always tucked away). The ONLY time my hair strands are out is in between protective styles or when I need to wash my hair. Also I never sleep without wrapping my head. I think a reason why it has become easy for me to manage my hair is due to the fact that I’ve been finger detangling for so long so I am very gentle with my hair and try my best to not be rough or braid my hair in a way that will make the ends vulnerable to getting tangled or matted. Also, if ever I do feel an excessive amount of knots at the top of my hair, I usually just dust each knot with hair scissors. I HATE cutting my hair and I honestly don’t even like to trim. I deal with my single strand knots by either dusting the ends very lightly OR taking the necessary precautions to prevent my hair from rubbing against itself. I hope this really helped you and if you have any other questions please feel free to always ask. Thank you for the video idea, my next wash day is in about two weeks so I’ll be sure to demonstrate how exactly I finger deranged. 😊❤️
@missamajones
@missamajones 4 года назад
@@NaturalAcademia OKAY :) Thank you so much for helping me out :) Just to clarify, about the dusting of the knots meaning you also cut them off?
@NaturalAcademia
@NaturalAcademia 4 года назад
Yes, very lightly trimming your ends. So no more than a quarter of an inch.
@missamajones
@missamajones 4 года назад
Natural Academia okay, I also get them higher up my ends and trimming them makes my hair uneven but I have to snip it off for a smooth finger detangling 😭 but I’m looking forward to seeing your finger detangling in detail 😄💗

I honestly love how low maintenance your regimen is, I’m currently wearing my hair in a wash and go because I love the curls and the volume. When my hair is braided it looks too thin and ion like that 😭 but when I wear it in twist it looks full but doesn’t last long. And I also want to wear my hair proudly because I was hiding it in the beginning out of fear mostly. Finding balance is not easy 😩 I’m still struggling in that department 😩

When you wear the big braids for 5 weeks: 1. Do you take down the braids to moisturize or do you moisturize the hair while it’s in braids? 2. How often do take down the braids to moisturize in that 5 week period?
