I don't know why they chose slow speed spin on the first one. I can't imagine it hurts anything. Might be better for the fabric, so they feel. The early spray rinse isn't bad but then they're no spray rinse at the end in the final spin. What I'd really love to know is if somebody hacked the microcontroller chip and reprogrammed it, to make it do anything they want at any point. They have hacked some older 50s/60s/70s belt-drive machines and put different size pulleys on them. Then they could control the motor speed with a variac and go from extra-extra gentle to super-speed turbo wash.

@@jaykay18 I love the super turbo speed for the best cleaning. We may never know. One day, Speed Queen Home may have to adopt the dual action agitator design and the wash action similar to the Whirlpool direct drive which I believe was called LEAP (Laundry Engineered Advanced Product).

@@jeromedavis8575 I doubt SQ would do that. They're very reluctant to change what works.

@@jaykay18 I have used the speed queen washingmachine s in the nursing home where my mom is great machine I wish I had bought one. My whirlpool is 2years old . I am finding water in the agitator Everytime I lift the softener dispenser. I put the machine on the clean cycle more than once clumps of black I had been pulling out the agitator.

@@Bob-ml1mv Any machine that has a "cleaning cycle" doesn't count as a washing machine in my book.

That's an interesting point now that you mention it, never thought about that. Well what about the old Whirlpools with the 7 spray rinses. Are 7 short bursts of spray better than 2 longer ones? Are the 2 longer ones long enough? Would the articles come out better with a longer spray? One thing I learned when I ran a load on my machine with the cabinet off is that manufacturers usually have a good reason for doing something. On my direct drives, after all is said and done and the load goes into final spin, vowels are worth nothing, consonants are going to be worth.... Sorry, always wanted to do that. The final spin runs for a precise amount of time. Why that long? Because they did the same, and saw that moisture was still being spun out until that point. While loads and moisture content vary, they pick a "happy medium". So I am sure Speed Queen had a good reason for doing so, we just don't know what it is. Perhaps it breaks the surface tension on the water to help the soap not stick to the articles being washed? I don't know. It's up for speculation, unless Her Majesty herself woudl step forward.

Well I guess I'll have to go back there, rip the new warm rinse out, and get the hell out of there!

@@Sharkie626love this machine. I always use the hot wash and warm rinse options when I wash my white clothes using the Clorox bleach and oxi clean
