Me too. I've been clean for 15 months from hard drugs. This album is very peaceful and sets the perfect mood esp for background melodies as i work and do things.
I am sober too and still love it - however i will say that that "New Theory" specifically has some sort of epiphany-inducing element in it's nature and while under the influence of a psychedelic, it is powerful. Listened to this album a few times tripping myself and it is hit or miss, for me it either makes me feel immensly happy and blissful, or can induce a mental breakdown and "bad trip".
I listened to this EP/album as well as Washed Out's other music while traveling through the Mojave Desert and Palm Springs...one of the best decisions I've ever made. Now whenever I hear his music it takes me back to the magical sunrises/sunsets and the beautiful mountains.
I came across this album in my early 20's and at that moment of my life I felt it aligned so perfectly. I am now 30 year's old and the feelings/memories that this album brings back to me is incredible.. I created a lot of art from this album..I felt so deeply from this album..it still brings me peace. I am married now with a 3 year old, but love to put this on while im cleaning as a reminder to myself that I used to be a little wild, and because it just makes me feel good..enjoy the things that make you feel happy is all I have to say 😊
I found this in 2011when a hipster chick I met on Facebook in my hometown sent me a USB playlist and lipstick kissed letter. Interesting playlist for an Afghanistan deployment.
been listening to this album for years and have always found the cover to be striking and fit the mood of the album perfectly. these tracks bring me to some beach in Spain while the sun sets with a pretty foreign girl and a mimosa
I miss the Summer of 2009. Chillwave was still popular and I wished Middle School never ended. Listening to both Toro Y Moi and Washed Out on Grooveshark while the sun goes down.
Even though it’s only an EP, this album is my favorite of all time. It got me through one of the hardest times in my life by providing a sense of comfort and motivation. Every time I listen, I forget about whatever’s going on in my life and is taken on a journey of self growth. Each time, it always feels the same: dreamy, softly comforting, but uplifting and motivating. I have nostalgia from Portlandia and growing up in Texas of Sunday afternoons strolling downtown after church, as well as memories of sitting near beaches while listening to this EP. It’s the right mix of comfortable nostalgia and an inspired futuristic vibe. I could go on forever describing what Life of Leisure means to me and what I feel every time I listen to it, but saying all these things simply couldn’t do it Justice. Washed Out is simply amazing, and crafted a beautiful masterpiece and the best seventeen minutes of my life.
Hearing this 8 years later makes me so nostalgic. Back in 2010 I'd come home from school, climb right up to the roof and smoke fat doobies to this album. I was one of the few who listened to Washed Out at the time.
Same, i was early 20s. He opened for Beach House before this album ever came out. He was a librarian from Georgia so he would come down to Tallahassee FL pretty often.
✨ Damn, has it really been almost 10 years of this song? 2022 anyone? time fucking flies. you better be doing what you truly love and enjoy doing in this lifetime ❤️ we're all on this journey of self discovery together.
I don't. I don't care if people do, but it pusses me off so much when I come to a video like this and see "sooooo stoned" or can't wait to getttt high" like they can't enjoy the music how it is
Alicia Rios A dance that is nearly as old as civilized man. And it is racially ignorant. Peoples of every color have been doing this for as long as history has been recorded.
Hold Out has such a nice pacing you can really listen to it time and time again and it doesnt burn out then you come back to it weeks later and rediscover it all over again
Growing up my dad would listen to this kinda music and this hit me with a full on nostaglia punch. When i heard this it sounded just like Happy Children by P.Lion, referring to the first song that plays. . Well played Washed Out. This is the song, you be the judge! Happy Children - P. Lion
SO plan on doing a hoop flow video to this song. LOVE IT!!! Need more music like this on the radio for sure. REAL music with clean innocent lyrics. Reminds me of growing up in the 80's.
This has got to be one of my top favorite albums by Washed Out. I will say from a personal experience, that Washed Out is one of the best people to listen to while you're trippin on lucy.
Ricardo Ellison rather I want to see how the Portlandia soundtrack sounds, em... in my condition...( Portland, my hometown, & recently got "decriminalized")
I really like that he plays this live as band rather than Dj'ing it on laptops etc. Not that its bad that other artists do. Just an interesting twist on the sound when its live.
The romantic, inspired, by you; I was a virgin till I listened to you. The washed out ; I went over the cliff , became a mermaid. You were there , the washed up , my fellow romantics; I was a virgin till I heard you. Love Hippy Lesb.
+hospitalcleaner of course you can enjoy this.....it's just that this so called type of music seems to be the preference of those who are stoned on the likes of Pot.....At almost 60 YO now, I understand why, as this substance affects your hearing in a unique way...Also, myself, having grown up in the Portland Metro area. (Portland ), I understand this linkage as well.....enjoy....
No I haven't, if that's what this is I really like it! I'm messing around with the intro synth, it's been on repeat in my head. You've got some funky tunes man!
Yeah, all of the stuff of Washed Out is like this. Check out his "High Times EP." It's all chillwave. He's the only artist that still makes chillwave, although he hasn't released anything new in a couple years. But the stuff that he's made so far is just beautiful.
