Another great subject. Shrinkage and fading are both interesting topics on their own and highly debated. My experience... shrinking mostly happens in a hot dryer. Hot water will disturb the cotton fibres enough to tighten them but shrinking actually happens most when the moisture leaves the fabric...the quicker it leaves, the more it will shrink (hot dryer). There are articles about this out there that explain this better than me. 😊 Fades have a number of factors. Very debatable. Certainly fit and creasing have a lot to do with creating high contrast fades. Tighter fits will have better creasing. A stiff starched fabric helps, also, with producing strong creasing. Also the quality of the indigo and the type of dying process. Wear them 30 or 40 times before washing them. Anything else?
i think these will be better than you think. as someone who has to selectively stretch out jeans in certain areas after washing (cold, and hung dry), try lightly spraying with water in the areas that are too tight, then do some squats and let them dry while you're doing whatever you would normally do. by spraying specific areas as opposed to rewetting them and letting them dry while you wear them (which as you know is stupid and a horrible thing to do to yourself), you won't get the weird knee bends or stretching in places you don't want it. the new length will look great with boots, too.
I turn the sound off when it starts it grates the ears, Still it's good to find more about selvedge jeans even though I am a bit old for this I have found this interesting how the difference in quality of Japanese products when Iwas younger motor bikes watches even today I LIKE Japan products feather D E razor now looking at selvedge jeans ?
I’ve had great fades out of Oni stretch denim - it’s def heavier weight - c15oz,. Absolutely no sign of crotch blowout either after 2yrs of wear. I’ve washed a few times at cool or medium temps - 40max, and they def feel too clingy on the thighs straight after. Stretch is a love / hate thing for me - I love the mobility but dislike that they can feel a little clingy on the thighs. Since I’m pretty active I suck up the bits I don’t like for the advantages of being able to move
Just bought these Gustin's 3 off someone on eBay and they're HUUUUUGE (size 32 but measurements say otherwise) LMAO 😂 I've shrunken a pair a couple weeks ago, but they might have been already been washed. Now I'm pondering on about tossing these big boys right in on high heat and then some, glad I came across this video! Wish me luck!
I have gotten into the habit of manually stretching out the legs of my jeans after a wash, I kind of have to being 6ft 4", just can't afford to loose an inch or more in the leg! My latest pair of jeans is a pair of Levi's vintage line 1947 501xx, which worryingly state they can shrink by up to 10% on first wash, guess I'll find out if they're still wearable in 6 months or so.
They will look great with boots. Interesting that non of my stretch denims that i use for work have no honey comes. Thought they have incredible whiskers. Better even than regular 100%cotton
If you wash hot enough most of the shrink should be out. They will come in a little bit in the waist each time but that will stretch back out again easy.
@@CeeAreDee whats the best way to size on raw denim? buying true to waist will mean it will shrink smaller than my waist = tough break in period, buying slightly bigger= becomes loose overtime
Based on my experience. The waist may stretch back after wearing but leg is not, and the fit would be totally ruined. Therefore I don't buy stretch denim jeans anymore.
You want me to skip the part where I’m wearing the jeans. So just go bottomless the whole time? Hmmm. Maybe not on this channel. I could set up an onlyfans maybe. Only if I can count on you as my first sign up, Partha.
@@CeeAreDee im from India here we dont get PBJ IRONHEART NO SELFEDGE DENIM HERE still i love it... i buy cheap Dark levi's denim treat them like raw denim.. i get fades but not much..
