Call by Charlie Slowes, in his 15th season with the team, alongside Dave Jageler.

Idk why, but him repeating "he makes the catch" makes the call a million times better

I know right? It's awesome! There's just something about Charlie Slowes's voice that's wondrous to the ears. It's a routine catch in center field but it's the most important catch in Nationals history and he just OWNS the call.

As a Mets fan, I could not be more proud of this team. I watched them as the Expos and as the Nats suffering loss after loss in the late 2000's. They were almost dead and buried in May and then stormed back to win the pennant. Congrats to the Washington Nationals and cheers to a hopefully entertaining World Series. No matter who wins in the ALCS, I will root for this team. Unlike other NL teams I've seen go to the world series, there isn't an unlikable guy on this team. I want them to win it not only for Washington, but Montreal as well

As a Marlins fan, I remember watching the Nats play in the RFK stadium now they are going to the WS, congrats!

I don't know if it was a Marlins fan, but I remember sitting in my seat at RFK as an opposing hitter clubbed a ball to center field. The fan who was next to me jumped up, assuming it was a home run. I knew better---it was a fly out to center field and the other guy was dumbfounded. The fences at RFK were deeper than they appeared to be.

I'm a retired old fart and saw the Senators at D.C. Stadium. They were perennial doormats, except that one season that Ted Williams somehow wrestled them to 86 wins (no playoff berth, natch). Then came the 33 year drought, when occasional hopes got up - and were dashed. Longtime D.C. sports fans remember seeing the "Baseball in D.C. sign being displayed at various sporting events all those long years, during which I finished high school, went to college, began and nearly completed mt career before baseball returned to D.C., thanks to the Lerner family. No one alive has seen a team do what this one did - make the playoffs after being 12 games below .500. It has been a magical season. The wheat was separated from the chaff among the fan base during those dark days of April and May. N - A - T - S - NATS! NATS! NATS! WHOO! #STAY IN THE FIGHT! GO NATS!

I lived in the DC area from 1958 to 1971, I moved to Australia three months before the Senators left Washington. I still followed baseball,as best I could,for many years,without a Washington team. Thanks to the internet,I can now follow the game more closely than I could as a kid (only about thirty games televised and my dad and'or neighbors taking me to four or five games live). In 2001,there was talk that the newly re-instated Montreal Expos (remember when Montreal and Minnesota were kicked out! of the MLB,. By the way,both of those franchises made the play offs this year) and started to follow them for the next three years.After all the trials and tribulations of the next three years,it was finally "Baseball is back,in Washington". From then on I had a new friend that I have never met,Charlie Slowes and a year later Dave Jageler. From Feb. to Oct. those two guys are part of my family. I have nothing against Bob and F.P. but radio commentary is far better than television(except in the case of the D'Backs).I listen to them,every game. In my opinion are the best in the business,they entertain me and make me laugh every game,even in the dark days of the late 2000's. Not only have I come to know and love them,their fondness for the players comes across and helps us listeners get to know the various individuals. I was so glad that I got to hear Charlie and Dave call the World Series Championship,you know the one Washington fans never expected would happen. Thank you Charlie and Dave for the many years I have listened to you and hope there are many (successful) more to come.

I want to talk about Charlie Slowes call here. It seems like he had practiced what he was going to say when they clinched the pennant, but somehow didn't believe it was happening until about halfway through. It was like hearing someone start to believe in magic again. Very touching. Great call. Go NATS!
@garfieldfarkle
@garfieldfarkle 5 лет назад
A couple of those phrases are trademark Charlie - "band, zoom go the fireworks!" and "remember where you are, so you'll remember where you were" are a couple. When you hear them over the years, they become comfortable as old, well-broken in shoes and serve to delight. I have heard the other calls and this is my favorite. #STAY IN THE FIGHT! GO NATS!

One of the best radio calls in MLB history. Bar. None. You can totally tell that Charlie had something rehearsed for the moment and then pure excitement just absolutely took over. Probably the same way that Duane Kuiper felt when Bonds hit HR #756.

As a "Howie Rose" fan, I was never sure how I felt about Charlie Slowes. Sometimes I'd hear Mets / Nats on 1500 here in NY and thought he sometimes sounded a tad plastic. But his genuine enthusiasm and strong play-calling / imagery during this series was excellent. I watched the game, but listening to the radio broadcast. Looking forward to the WS. I've become a fan.

Cap tip to the Cardinals, Dodgers and Brewers from this Nats fan. You are all outstanding teams and worthy opponents. You have great players and great fans, and I am sure you'll be right back in the thick of the playoffs next year. In 2019, y'all just ran into an unstoppable freight train coming down the tracks, full speed.

A great moment for the Nats....but also a moment to remember the Montreal Expos, the team's predecessor. If they were still in Montreal, I bet the French language commentators would be saying, "sacre bleu"! Kudos to the Nats!

Too bad die hard expos fans like myself can’t get excited about this. In fact it’s the opposite...This is a team with no ties pre-2004 and does little to acknowledge it’s rich franchise history. Washington had an opportunity to get Montreal fans to embrace this franchise but put absolutely no effort in. Good luck in the World Series, but to Montreal baseball fans this is NOT a shared victory
@randomtraveler9854
