The 2024 Washougal Motocross had quite a bit of everything on Saturday in the 250cc and 450cc classes.
KTM's Chase Sexton swept both 450cc motos to make it 7 straight in the season. Despite a small tipover in moto 1, Sexton fought through the pack to race leader and teammate Aaron Plessinger #7. Plessinger led until he stalled with a few laps to go.
Honda's Hunter Lawrence #96 had another forgetful day with a crash in moto 1 and a sub-par performance in moto 2. He went 5-4 for 4th overall.
450cc moto 2 saw Yamaha's Justin Cooper with the early lead, but Hunter Lawrence stole the lead after that. Kawasaki's Jason Anderson #21 got by them both and led the way.
KTM's Sexton got around everybody, including race leader Anderson with a little over 10 minutes to go.
The 250cc class saw Yamaha's Haiden Deegan go 2-1 for the overall win, but it could've been a sweep had Deegan not tipped over in moto 1.
KTM's Tom Vialle #16 got 2 great starts on the day and led from gate to flag in moto 1. Moto 2 was a different story, as Deegan, who sat down for 2nd in moto 1, passed Vialle for the moto and overall win.
Honda's Chance Hymas #48, who had a bad day at Millville, toughed out Washougal with a bad ankle. He went 8-12 for 9th overall.
In the press conference, Vialle revealed he had a hand injury from Millville. Is it serious? We will know after Motocross will resume in 2 weeks time at Unadilla Valley Sports Center in New Berlin, NY.
