The word Chamar is evolution of word "Charmkar" which was used for people engaged in leather profession. Which over time became a caste. Agree. Namaste Haris bhai.
@@gakushupointo5068in Pakistan it’s used for stupid people living in filth ( it’s by no means a choice for people sometimes 😢. As they are too poor and uneducated
I am from Bangladesh. My mother also used this word "chamar". Sometime she also used it for me😁 as a context of nasty. Harris is right. My mother complete her graduation from karachi, because my grandfather was in pak navy, before 1971. I think It's came from there. And I agreed we shouldn’t use this word.
Most Pakistanis don’t know that “Chamar” is a caste. I think they think it’s just a word that means someone who is unsophisticated or dirty. There is no awareness that it’s a caste.
Hi! I am from Punjab, India. See this has evolved with time! It lies in our ancestory! We were also used to speak all of this but with time and awareness and the laws taught us that we have to be careful while speaking such words! Even today, sometimes it just comes out of our mouths out of a habit but even we are trying to improve ourselves and respect everyone and learning that we just speak it casually although there is nothing casual about this! Thanks for your insight and a liberal Indian would never judge Wasim Akram for this!
Its a damnn panjabi thing..panjabis use these so recklessly and thats why most of lower castes in pakistan converted to xtianity and in indian panjab they are fast quitting their religion for christianity....and other panjabi song has a caste angle to it.
when i was in school in Delhi we used to use this word without understanding the casteist background. It was only around 2010 that discourse moved to the point that we understood this is casteist and started avoiding it

As Indians, we never used to discriminate in ancient times especially based on cast but with invasions after invasions, the work-streamed category became an identity (not a cast initially but eventually turned out as one) as previously it was based on interest rather than birth. But when it became a fixed framed social structure, it opened Pandora's box for Hindus. It's for this discriminatory nature that these slurs became a burden for all of us and we developed a sensitive toe to never step on. I personally understand the reason why it came out and I sympathies with Akram and with you as well. Keep up your work. Really appreciate your efforts 😊😊

In my ancestral village near Sialkot. the chamars had their own mosque and Jats their own.. When the Chamars wanted to extend the grounds of their mosque no Muslim Jat would give them or sell them a part of their adjoining land. My old man, a Sikh sold them a patch of land at a nominal price despite objections by Muslim Jats. Chamars and Christians were most discriminated as a matter of course in pre partition India and the worst offenders were Muslims themselves.
I didn't need an explanation as I can understand the context but you still have explained it 100% 🙂 Send this video to Wasim Akram. I am sure he'll love this video 🙂
India me caste discrimination bohot zyada tha two generations back, hamare parents ke time pe kaafi kam ho gaya tha, in our generation, you won't find Such discrimination at all in cities, maybe villages me abhi bhi hota ho, I believe aisa hota hoga kyuki kabhi kabhi aisi news aati hai. However, India has very strong anti discriminatory laws, you'll end up in lockup if someone from that background complains against you, further the burden of proof in such a case will lie on defendant.
Don't worry Harish Bhai, we understand that most of our Pakistani cousins have a mind stuck somewhere in Stone Age. Hope they evolve towards humanity in the next 50 years. 🙏 🙏

To give you indian political context harris bhai 1. Yes , wasim akram has not used it as slur , but its has become part of lingo so it was casual 2. Castism exist in Pakistan but since there is no poltical consciousness about it it is not a part of discourse because islamic narrative has taken over literally everything, like Pakistani feudal structure is highly castist is its basis 3. The reaction from india is not just about wasim being a Pakistani but about him being a muslim , some of them must have been bigoted but in india there is political discourse ever since Pakistani movement its called Jai bheem Jai meem Which is a poltical unity of muslims and lower caste against congess then and now bjp because the fundamental believe then was congress is upper caste hindu party and the same accusations now is against bjp Baba saheb ambedkar debunk it in 1940s via his book but still this has been in active play in indian politics Where lower caste political leadership, if they want to reach power as a separate unit they need muslim votes And they pretend that there is no castism in muslims Be it hindu or muslim or sikhs Whole Indian society collective believed ( becoming less ) is caste but the beating is towards Hindusism ( which is fine ) But simultaneously they (who keep who claimed to be leaders of lower caste ) keep blind eye towards violence and caste prejudice within muslims ( there is no political discourse of caste in muslim in india becoz then u cant have a bulk.muslim votes to appease ) hence whever The right hindu side gets a chance They show not that this whole poltical narrative of jai bheem jai meem ( muslim dalit unity) is fasade During Pakistani movement many dalit leadership supported Pakistan in the hope that muslims have no caste so they will be better off but we know what happened Bjp or sangh narrative is that they want to get away with caste and create s unified hindu identity but non bjp parties creates an anti bjp narrative that Bjp is highly castist and upper caste hence they want to keep this caste division for power and keep muslims and lower caste bulk votes to themselves hence the narrative pedling Hence Pakistan is catist but since there is no active poltical caste conciousness the discrimination of Pakistan society menifest itself in narrative of Fedual lord , ehthinic issue , muhajir issue etc etc etc but not caste So the reaction why not just again Pakistan it was showing mirror also to those who peddle The unity of muslim and lower caste myth in india

Harris... You explained the whole controversy in great detail & effectively. Chamar is a caste in india. In india we are in a process of getting rid of caste system but their are some selfish politicians in india who are in favour of caste system so that they can capitalise on it during election period. This discrimination on the basis of caste is the product of society & not of Hindu Dharma. Sanatan Dharma is a Merritt based Dharma. Harris...In india majority of Indians are great fan of Wasim Akram including me. He is a gentleman & a good human being...🙂🙂
Hlo bro!! i am from Nepal. We are all hypocrites. We often use words such as chamar , kalu...which are racist. Context are same all over south asia. I don't think pakistanis are out of context from south asia. As a progressive society we must realize these mistakes and try to avoid them ...these words hurt sentiments !
Let me tell you the history of this word in Pakistan, during partition, Jinah convinced a Dalit leader named `Joginder Nath Mandel` to move to pakistan, following him many dalits joined pakistan with him, then the killing started. Joginder Nath, not able to stop anything resigned and came back to India. Many Dalits tried to follow, but were stopped by Liaqat Ali Khan, who told the India high commision "who would clean streets and latrines of Karachi if they are allowed to leave?". Most of these dalits died, or very forcefully converted, some converted to christanity, as christans have greater support from world community. Back then hindus had no support. Christan still make for 80% of sewage workers in pakistan.
Sir, hamare yahan ek word hai "Malechh" Jo 0.001% Aaj use hota Hain. Yeh "Malechh" word unke liye hota hai Jo middle East se hain. I hope apne suna hoga. This word should not be used. But so long as Kaffir word is used by most people from Pakistan and middle East, this Malechh word is ok to be used. Respect and choice of words is two way traffic. If one community uses derogatory words on other community, they can't tell others not use words which might offend them.
Waise Pakistan me C word Christians ke liye use hota hai, maine ek podcast me suna tha, to ye kahna ki castism nahe hai galat hai, bas Pakistan me non muslims se related koi cheej acknowledge nahe ki jati and that's a fact.
Yes, of course, our people do use that word as an insult and it's not right. Again, I'm telling you Pakistanis are coming at it from a different angle.
🇮🇳🇮🇳🇮🇳 Haris bhai i really want u to address this comment in ur next video pls I am from a Hindu Sikh family from India My family from the mother side is Sikh and most of the Hindu families of Punjab go to gurudwara and hold baba nanak on very close to our hear Most of the Hindu's (and I mean it) MOST of the Hindus go to guru dwara or darga (eg.ajmer darga,Haji ajrat and many more) Just a few percent of population speak ill of Islam and they are highlighted because they are on tv. But I've never seen any Muslim not even one percent (i think) to ever go or even consider or just even say that they can go to any other place of worship (except Indian celebs coz they have to show) Then why do PPL say that Hindu's hate the other religion more Even most Sikhs don't go to tempt but there is a sense of trust with Hindu's and Sikh... Sikh can go to temple or any other Hindu ceremony But Muslim consider it like a sin that would burn them right away...
Indian agar kisi ko bol diya "chamaar" it is a non-bailable offense, you will be in jail without any investigation. Then the accused has to prove that he/she is innocent.
I don't know if anything is creeping up against Wasim Akram, I think these things happen because some people try to get famous by going against famous people. I am an Indian and I can understand what you are trying to say and also the actual feeling of Wasim bhai. Please don't feel bad about it. 🙏
Yes Harris bhai, Your have beautifully explained and also Wasim Akram is prominent cricketer for us as well. But one thing I can tell you that cast is not even in Hinduism or in Sanatan dharma. 😊😊
I am a Christian from Lahore and chora chamar word I heard and I even couple of times people even called me as well but I didn’t know that there was a big history and cast is associated with this word. One of the Sikh tell me that in Indian Punjab if they used that word they can go to jail. But when I was in Lahore I never knew that was a serious thing. But I always think that word is only associated with dirty jobs. Which mostly poor Christians are doing in Pakistan. I hope one day in Pakistan they will give more rights to Christians in Pakistan and don’t use that word for Christians. Thanks for explaining

Harris bro. You have gained a new fan. I’ve been watching your videos and honestly can concur that you’re more professional and rational than most Indian RU-vidrs, let alone Pakistani RU-vidrs. The actual word is Chuda-Chamaar and is a Punjabi thing. It is no longer used as a slur rather has become part of the lingo. To be honest Punjabis are the most racist people in India but along with that are most large hearted as well so we get away with many things. I hope to one day meet you. You’re a hero in your own right and the world needs more people like you. Respect from an Indian and Punjabi.

I have seen Karachi municipality job vacancy notice for Sanitary workers on twitter. It specially mentioned Hindu and Christian to apply. So although Pakistan doesn't have a prevalent caste problem like India but Pakistan uses religion as a caste.
India me ye word bolna non bailable offence hai aur uska reason ye hai ke humare purvajo ne apne hi sath rehne Wale insaano ko insaan nahi samjha aur unke sath janwaro se bhi badtar suluk kiya. Kai jagah aaj bhi hota hai
Haris bhai don't worry. The fact that you felt guilty about it and tried to elaborate your point of view tells me that you are an enlightened soul. We Indians love you for your wisdom❤ Come to India become Indian❤ We would like to have you here and enlighten the masses with your light. India doesn't need religion oriented mentality... India needs people who are free souls like you. This land historically has been of explorers and not followers. If India has to rise, it has to have its masses enlightened. You are doing great work. You are already doing great Karma. Keep it up!
I respect you, If you say there is no cast system I am not going to believe. I work in UK and I know many pakisthanis proudly claiming they are Kashmiri Bhatts (Brahmin) , Rajpoot or Jhat muslims and talk lower caste Azlafi muslims
I too believe Wasim Akram didn't have anything casteist in mind when he used the term, but that doesn't absolve him of all blame. Like one X user rightly said, he needs to educate himself. Being a legend is no excuse for ignorance. On our Indian side, we had the case of Yuvraj who said something on the same lines and the courts rightly took him to task. Respect to you from India.
Historically speaking, chyawana dynasty consisted of Hindu upper class kshatriya people, they had lost wars against Muslim invaders. So their women were made sex slaves and men were made sewage janitors, with time , Hindus began to consider them as lower caste shudras. They were not accepted in the society at that point of time now they are considered as a scheduled caste in Hindus. Most sweepers 'bhangis' come from the same caste in Indian subcontinent.

Its also because of Punjabi language. The words like bhangi, chamaar are used very casually in Punjabi here in India as well but definitely origin of these words are rooted in heinous practice of castism which comes from Hindu scriptures. Some time ago Yuvraj Singh also got involved in a controversy by saying similar thing.

Haris Sultan Sir, I dont know if you know there r two words which Arabs use most often to call their friends or acquaintances. 1) Habib 2) Rafiq. The word Habib is a sweet word for " Mera Pyara Dost". The Word "Rafiq" used by Arabs is also a friend but in derogatory manner. Rafiq means " Mad or Bawla man". The Arabs use this word Rafiq word to call us Asians employees which includes Pakistani, Indians, Bangladeshi Muslims. But when the Arabs call other Arabs men they always call "Habib". Never Rafiq. I hope someone can explain this on comments section if I am correct or wrong.

Hi Harris Really appreciate the effort you make to explain the nuances. I am a Punjabi from India and I can say that in our families also these words were used casually for us by our parents if we were not dressed appropriately or wearing dirty clothes. But as we grew we understood the real meaning. And you are right Mr Wasim Akram has also used it casually. Keep up the good work Harris

Yes you are right about casteism in Hinduism. It was created thousands of years back by the people in power then and is followed still. The holy book for Hindus, the Mahabharata also brings this perspective glaringly. The most loved character in Mahabharata after Lord Krishna, Karna was abjected for being low caste and was humiliated till his death. Despite being potentially the most superior person in the era, he was always humiliated. He protested and fought for the low castes. Coming back to the modern era, lots of people have fought against the concept of casteism. Our father of the Constitution, Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar sir was also from a lower caste. Living in the current century it is time we come out of such prejudices and accept people as they are.
