This reminds me of the range officer in a particular regiment which shall remain nameless. Suggestion. If you don't care about the tree, use a tiger torch. Make sure you start at the entrance/exit. The nest will be consumed in 5 seconds and you won't get stung. Works great.
Gonna give you some clues. Either you have raid, and spray it into the entrance for 5 sec, or you have raid, combine it with an lighter and spray the nest for ten seconds, or any flamable sprayed, combined with an lighter. Raid will kill the nest, but get out of dodge for the returning workers. For those interested. Raid kills insects by activating receptors to activate muscles. For example, if you spray an fly, it will start to fly around everywhere. Only insects have the receptors for this poison, and they will die from exhaustion/heart failure.
