They were pretty cool. I prefer the Ayutthaya era murals but these were very nice. The Ayutthaya ones are all almost gone so hard to find. The best I’ve seen are in Petchaburi. Take a look at this video. Wat Ko - 300 Year Old Mural Paintings - Phetchaburi Thailand ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-9gYZtZPGkcU.html
I think a week or two earlier would’ve been a bit smokier but this year wasn’t too bad compared to other years. It looked like most of the fields and canals were already burned off. Now if we could just get a bit of rain to green things up again (and to cool things off) it will be nice.
Thanks for the information. I didn’t know what it was. They originated in India and were believed to be the weapon of the god Vishnu. The smaller variations are known as chakri while the larger ones are called vada chakra, which were as large as a shield. Always nice to learn something new.
@@peterouuu I have. I completely missed the connection. I went back and looked and now I feel stupid. lol I had my wife read the Thai under the video and she said it was wat Mahathat in Lopburi. I’ve been to it also. The picture just shows the main prang and not the other buildings. Phimai I’ve been to many times and might see about another visit next month. I will be going through there to see a few sights I missed when I went to Buriram. I usually have the worse luck in that it’s either closed, under construction or bad weather. We missed the dragon boat races last trip to Phimai during the festival. It’s on my list for next year.
