Watauga is a beautiful lake but it is a challenge to fish. I haven't had much luck myself but I'm still trying and hoping to learn more along the way.

It is definitely a tough lake. I had some buddies catch almost 50 but they were fishing 75ft or water!!!

@@championjigsoutdoors2015 Yes, it's definitely a great lake for trolling if that was their method. I just got my first boat end of this past summer and I plan to do some trolling on Watauga and Boone.

It's all about getting deep. 50 ft deep in summer and 50 feet deep in winter. Damiki rig works in either situation. Hair jigs and swimbaits. Its a tough lake for sure but there's many huge fish in it. Large dmsll and spotted are prevalent. Can get very windy. Generally very clear water. Have gad luck with Hudson when they raise it up and beat the banks for largemouth.

Is there a GPS signal out there? I heard there’s no cell signal but was wondering if your GPS on the fish sonar unit will work? Gonna head out there soon.
