Hi Harri it's Mick in the UK. A fabulous reaction to a fabulous singer and multi-instrumentalist. You seemed to think the beginning was different? You are right, it was. Emily began with the chord structure of Ave Maria before going into Unchained Melody. Emily did all the arrangement herself, including the piano solo and extended version of the song. There are many excellent singers in the world, and many piano players. There are very few that can do both at the same time and do it well. Good singers show much of their emotions through their hand movements, when playing piano that cannot be done. But Emily more than makes up for it with her sheer talent, which others don't have. There’s no debating that she’s a very talented young woman. She’s got a beautiful voice. She’s a truly gifted pianist. That said, she’s still got a lot of growing to do, imo. This song demands a great deal of emotion, and that emotion comes in large part from personal experience. I don’t think she has the life experience to really carry off this kind of song. Again, just my opinion. However, when she is older and she’s had some life experience, lookout, because she’s going to be so much better! I can’t imagine what she’s going to sound like in 10-15 years, both vocally and on the piano. She may be a megastar in the future! I am with you on everything you said Harri. I love this from the first note to the last, everyone is entitled to an opinion but there was nothing missing to me. I do look forward to her future but my ears are open to what she is doing right now and I am continually impressed.
I thought that her performance was actually extremely impressive, Clint! I thought about it afterwards and I think my problem was with this song. It doesn’t happen often, but sometimes there’s an iconic song that I’ve heard for decades-and I can’t step out of it. I think our tastes in music are much like a fingerprint. No two are the same. I meant no disrespect to you or Emily.

There is absolutely nothing that Em can’t sing. I love your excitement and appreciation of her Harri. I’ve loved her since she was 12, and every single song she posts moves me. She is the only person in my life, (and I’m 67,) that can have tears rolling down my cheeks as I’m smiling, at the same time. I just can’t even imagine what she will be like in a few more years. Thanks Clint for choosing it.
@@clint6872, I don’t know what the others mean about her emotions because I feel them just fine. I always do. Her own songs are full of emotion about topics that she has never been through. She hasn’t even begun dating, yet she’s brought tears to my eyes many times. You don’t have to be punched in the face to know what it feels like.
Sometimes people are just tied to a particular version of a song. You and I both know Emily has been pouring her heart into songs since she was 11 or 12. The empathy and compassion she has makes up for any lack of personal experience. Having said that I believe 16 year olds are quite capable of understanding heartache or longing, sometimes us old fogies forget what being a teenager was like. There was another person commented he was moved to tears. Harri gave a great reaction and to be honest I was more interested in that. At 400k subs and 115m views she is definitely carving out a career in front of our eyes. And she is doing completely as an independent artist. Exciting times ahead for Emily. As for the emotion missing in her delivery, she is young and hopefully hasn't had to deal with the emotions that come with true loss. So pretty. I'm an old fart from Boston and was sceptical about a 16 year old singing this iconic song, but Mr. Best has never disappointed so I watched. I soon had to pause the video to get the Kleenex box. Damn you Harri. With some further training and maturing and experience this lady will be included among the greats. ❤
Bobby Hatfield was a fabulous singer, but he couldn't have gone on stage and performed the way he did without a mini orchestra, or at the very least, backing tapes. Emily can, she was recorded live on camera here.
@@mickcollins5748 I just said I felt his version had more emotion in it compared to Emily. I have no idea if a mini orchestra helped him with that or not.
@@patswanson2870 As I said to Harri, many singers use their hands to add emotion, which a pianist cannot do, but Emily has many more talents. Take care.
