@Dextya I was using Star Trek as an example, as it turns out it wasn't that good of one considering this video and the sound they use for warping is pretty different.
that's the first or second layer of hell, you don't wanna know whose eyes they are. get that thing out of there before they hold on tight and come back up with it.
If there are 2 million layers, and you assume each layer represents a year, it looks like 2 million years. If you assume each layer is a day of snowfall, it works out to about 5,400 years.
Correct. Many assume the rates and predict off that. That's like judging human actual age based on wrinkles or other features. Some people age faster or slower, not possible to get accurate reading.
There's no assumption involved, we can observe how ice accumulates and compacts as it happens so we know what time scales are represented by various features. The people who study these things (and have been studying them for centuries) don't just pull things out of their asses, especially given that all of the other people in the same field are actively looking for any mistakes you make, including unjustified assumptions. That doesn't mean they're infallible, but it does mean they have long since figured out how to to do basic things like reliably determine the date of ice core samples.
You're missing the point though. that ice at the bottom is not just normal ice, it's ancient, millions of years old, and it tells a fascinating history of this planet. We can see what earth was like before life even existed on it. This kind of digging is pretty much the closest thing we will have to a Time Machine
So you could unknowingly get your great grandma pregnant, then puke on the paradoxical past version of yourself as you're too late to stop him in the act.
@@OkTq-tp9ohthere is actually some difference between old and new ice. Mainly Carbon Dioxyde content. Old ice can give us a screenshot of how much CO2 was in the air at the time it was frozen and is the main proof we have of climate change.
After watching this, I was able to put myself as the camera and ask How the hell are they gonna retrieve me then? Are they still going to get me? Then I realized, I i would say, FUCK I'M STUCK. 😂😂😂
Fortunately, the terminal velocity of a person falling can't reach the speed of sound, so you're fine. The human body, if falling head down, can reach speeds of 290 KM/h. The speed of sound is 1,238.4 KM/h, so.
I used to go down the slides on the food trays that they used to have. I used to get some serious air time coming out of those slides lol I thought I broke my ass once I landed so hard. Couldn’t get up for like 10 minutes
Researchers who think that ice is 2 million years old are not smart. That ice is not even 5000 years old. One layer doesn’t equal one winter. Its more like one day of snowfall.
@@Tovek that's fine lol but I read that in a science magazine. They wondered if ancient diseases was frozen down in glaciers so it's not MY idea lol-i was just sharing what I read.
I had one with no knock out drug. The internal stab and what ever they threw on my face afterwards, pretty much knocked me out though... The examiner blamed me for having twisty tubes, but i rekon he was just a sadist.
this is serious; if you're reaching your 40s you should absolutely get a colonoscopy. They are a safe and very effective procedure which can save your life when bowel cancer is spotted early. Who cares if some doctor is gonna see your bum; they've seen thousands of them and it's not like they'll remember yours.
Well I’m a dice guy, and I think I understand your guy’s jokes, they are punny but sice. But that’s just my two cents, would I be able to stick that in an ice hole? (Also This is a joke, plz don’t get offended or scared that this comment has any actual further significance or meaning than what it simply is- a joke. Hopefully you possible future readers would recognize that much- {from experience- jk tee hee 😂)
Dude, way, way farther... The last ice age ended just 10k years ago. Here we are talking millions.... 😅 There'd be an ice age every short distance or so. Too lazy to calculate. 😁
So you’re claiming you rode in a spaceship while time traveling that went thru a wormhole, that’s pretty wild. It’s too bad you didn’t record it for us to see
@@douglasrodenbach8000what if time os just a change in entropy? If there is nothing hapenning anymore in the universe, all dark, nothing moving, maybe we can consider it like time is stopped?
Yeah like every few meters or so, you're going through a few thousand years of layers. Hell, even more than that really, since (if I understood this correctly), they ended up having a sample that was over 2 million years old!
@@LennyHenrysDorsalCavityno partner is new age woke bs term it’s usually used by people who don’t want to consider their relationship as a thing I usually see it used by older people like 50+ that are divorced and feel that saying BF or GF is weird to them
@@LennyHenrysDorsalCavityactually that is not the correct definition of a life partner Life partner is generally used to define someone that you are not married to but are in a long term relationship but to scared or some bs to actually just get married
@@aditighosh8073Theres no such thing as misuse. All these intangible constructs/ideals people embrace are whats truly misused. Life is about living. Theres infinite perspectives. What you make of this shit called life is your own. These things are simply decided by individuals and huge crowds who have deliberately chosen to collectively believe a certain view to comfort themselves.
@@bigol9223a very good question! Ice itself cannot be tested this way, but sometimes trapped gases in the ice can be carbon dated. This is only one of many methods to test the age of ice though and several methods will be employed to get more accurate data.
