No joke my mother stood in front of an intersection to do just that when she was on vacation. There was a red light but still it could have turned green at any moment. I still think it may have been the dumbest thing she's ever done. Luckily she made it out safe though.
In Arizona, there’s been some cases of Chinese Tourists who’ve died from taking pictures. Maybe they never fully understood how the roads worked? But still, it’ll always be a mystery to me on how that happens.
I was there, people did it all the time, the train moves really really slowly, so its not that freaky or dangerous. We got to ride the train in with the day trip we bought and it was awesome. Nothing dangerous or scary about it really.
We also have several here in the PH. There’s one in Candelaria Quezon Province. It even made news when one stall got hit. The train schedule here is irregular and can go several months without it so the vendors are not as alert.
@Evil Pimp I wouldn't move if that's the only land and business I own. Some places doesn't compensate enough for new owners to even afford to rent a land.
People are very stubborn to relocate . So authority just went along with them if they can archive the security standard. It not all the time tho with a few exception
You could also say that the government was nice and let the market stay.. here in the US, and probably many countries, train would also win, but market would have to move.
@@jakeg3126 and the market should move. I’m sorry but having a market like that is 1, Dangerous for guest and yourself, 2 inefficient because the train would have to go slow as to not hit anyone and 3 it may cause food to get dirty because a train moving around can bring up a dust.
@@supergamergrill7734 I don't know why i'm defending market, but I don't know if they have anywhere to go. Despite fact of they are used to it, you also got your cost/benefit analysis; no one is forcing anyone to shop there or work there, those vendors can move and people don't have to shop there. is you life worth more than the cost of saving time/money going or being there.. for your #2 Does the train actually slow down? it doesn't say it.
Maybe... But of course it is never gonna happen... It got to run through some station and densely populated areas before reaching the market tho, there will always be an eyes out there in case anything gone wrong.
Also if you look at the video, the train seems to be moving at a speed of around 10 km/h so the driver can most likely clearly see the awnings and objects in the way a long way before it is too late to brake.
Well mind you, if it's just a fruit basket or some awning the driver doesn't seem to care much 😂 I've read that there's lot of accident which train dragged a fruit basket or some stuff. But not a human, thought
I think the gap under the train is tall enough for the basket to stay intact. Actually, I’ve even heard a jackass advice on “what to do if you’re suddenly in front of moving train” - to lay down as flat as possible so that the train goes above you without impact. Wouldn’t ever try this myself though.
@@jeremiahsmith916 lets hope none of us are ever in that situation where that's that's best bet thinking about it unless your a small child that probably won't work
Soda King I’ve seen a news report where a grown man did that in the US. He just got up and walked away once it passed. But still it is probably better to try and be careful and get off the tracks.
I’m here in Thailand for a few months and did not know about that when I was nearby and now I’m in a different part of the country and hoping to go back to see it before I have to leave again
@@JamesBond-xx1lv pretty sure they’re talking about the moving of baskets, the umbrellas, and stuff too. Like what if your umbrella suddenly gets stuck and you can’t get it out? Or you drop a basket of apples.
It's unbelievable how stupid, racist, uncaring and harsh people can be. I have been living in Thailand my whole life and believe me when I say that some foreigners who come here--not all--sure seem to have problems and behave like they are superior than us. It is disgusting. I was walking in the streets in my school uniforms and they walk up to me in daylight, asking me "how much?" When I tell them that I don't sell my body, they laugh at my face. Then there's this one time I set a store selling chickens with my friends, some rude foreigners come and eat the chickens without paying. When we demand the payment, they spit the chicken to the ground. I still remember their expressions very clearly. They were ugly. They laughed too and said that what else do we sell? I mean, we were wearing school uniforms. I am still angry at that. I didn't mean to say that all of the foreigners are like that. Many are nice, but yeah, my point is that, don't think you are superior than us just because you are not born here. Just because you come here for holidays doesn't mean you can belittle our lives. It reflects how little your brain is. Just read what I wrote and ask yourself if it looks ugly. If it is, don't do it. Don't be like that. I know we all are capable of being nice to each other. I don't want you to bow to us or anything, I just want you to respect our lifestyle and the people who are different than you a little bit.
OhmyEffing Blackpink hello from NYC. don’t mind these keyboard warriors. I know those types. Including those who act like tough guys in foreign countries. Case in point, I see it on the subway when I go into the city all the time. Meek little lemmings alone but when they are with their friends they find their muscles. Btw You speak great English for a Thai native
Indonesia used to have this as well, traditional markets right next to train tracks, but it's been forbidden since about 10 years ago. It's just not safe for sellers and their customers, trains also had to run really slow, making it late to reach its destinations.
Down by the market, early in the morning, lots of fruit and veg stalls all in a row, see the engine driver pull the little handle... fruit fruit fruit and off, we, go!
0:55 "The train is coming, are you going move away to the sides and avoid getting hit by the train?" "Yes" *ACTUALLY GETS ON THE TRACKS AND TAKE PICTURES LIKE A BOSS*
I imagine they thought the people would move when they put the train up, but the people said fuck you and refused to move. The result is with both parties winning in the end. Now it's a tourist spot that earns everyone a shit ton of money.
After living in Thailand for many years as a foreigner... I just hate all about this "issue" with NOT making a safe and workable solution for a real problem... This is not strange in Thailand - this is just how Thailand works.
Why need to solve the problem when the problem makes benefits to the locals? Btw the red line underground electric commuter rail will replace this commuter rail line soon
When my son was about 11 years old he entered a Jaycee Relay Race. He’d never ran track before and didn’t know everybody wore shorts. He came in jeans, to everyone’s amusement. He ran the last leg for his team - and came away the fastest runner of the day, and made up considerable distance to win. This video made me think of that day. How I wish I had been able to see it, instead of only hear and read about it. I was a single mom and had to work. My son was an amazing athlete. ❤️
whatcha say? They didn't expected it to be a tourist attraction and even Thai people considers it an eye sore. But these westerners made it to be one because "it's a market beside a train track" and we don't have that in murica so we go there and take pictures. It's just literally a dirty, hot, smelly market beside a fucking deadly and loud train track. It's a sign of poor urban planning but westerners still find it as an "attraction".
Hello from Thailand, I think it is something that attracts tourists from abroad. It is interesting that there is no place there before and is unique to that area and although it is dangerous but it is the favorite of the Tourist. But I think it's too dangerous And I think it is a bad market Take your life to risk the train Regardless of danger, Thailand also has a beautiful sea in Pattaya, with many shopping areas.
ITS AMAZING ... At the same time .. where is hygiene ? .. We saw that food was actually getting under the train , passing all dirt from train's underhood on the fruit.
Everyone of the sellers in this market are amazing for how fast they can just clean everything out of the railways path! I would honestly love to go through the market one day.
Jonathan Liang You do realise that even when going like 10km/h trains still take quite the distance to get to a full stop, right? And a train is still really heavy machinery, so if you get under it and the driver can't see you you're screwed...
Second issue is what if there was emergency and the train can't slow down. You might have less than a minute to do anything, but again who knows. Good thing is the passengers can try to buy some prawns or something on their way.
I went here in January, it was so busy but a great experience to see the train going through the market and everyone moving things around before and after. :)
average everyday people pretty sure the market came before the tracks, which is why I'm confused about why they decided to but tracks in a known popular market where there's definitely people running around in
I was just scrolling through youtube when I saw this video when I suddenly screamed “HOLY FLOOF I’VE BEEN TO THAT TRAIN STATION!!” I visited that place several months back and it was absolutely worth it!! It gets really loud from all the people there, but even then you could still hear the train’s whistle.
I went to visit the famous market! It was truly an experience to remember. The train goes really slow when it arrives. In the market they sell various of exotic vegetables that you couldn't get in Europe. So my mother bought as much as she can hehe!
*oh no I’m gonna die!!! Ok then we’ll let’s just put the umbrellas back were they were and show the train who’s boss. 5mins later, OH NO ITS BACK AGAIN*
Heri Kurniawan to be dangerous is a characteristic of the things, it's given by its capacity to hurt someone, for example a tiger is a dangerous animal, it can easily hurt someone, if you put the tiger in a steel cage you reduce the risk to be hurt by the tiger, but the tiger itself still has the potential to hurt someone, so does the train in the video.
Wow! That's dedication. Seems it would be easier for the venders to move the market to a less dangerous and time consuming location. 8 times a day the market has to pack up. It's like an hour of your day is consumed by packing and unpacking your goods. who knows WHAT kind of debris is getting on the food from the train, literally baskets of food Between the tracks?!
@domo kun There again, people who think they're totally normal and keep mocking or showing ignorance on everything unfamiliar to them (especially in youtube channel about interesting story around the world, whoa seriously dude?). How 'bout a round of applause for spreading hatred and idiocy so that you can be proud of the fact that you're just random aggressive troll on the internet?
