Thanks guys, I've loved Korkers in the past, Just don't have the money to experiment with the different soles. I've spent hours researching these but this is the best comprehensive explanation I've seen. Thanks for the time you guys put into this.

Great job, Ben! You reinforced what hundreds of miles of stream survey taught me when I was a wet behind the ears Biologist.. big metal studs rule the river. I use the regular soles on my Korkers for lakes and hiking. A boat can always be protected with either a thin sheet of plywood or outdoor carpet that quiets your boat in any case. Cheers!

Awesome video! I absolutely suck at wading and I know it irritates the hell out of my buddies when I’m so far behind them because I slip and slide all over the river bottom. I’ve been wanting to try the Korkers and the Svelt (sp?) and this video really helped enforce my decision. Thanks!

felt or sfelt are great in the water, but are terrible in the mud and ice on the banks of the river. If there is snow, forget it, they're useless, you wont even make it to the river. The snow builds up on the bottom so much, you have to knock off 4 and 5 inch thick blocks every few steps. I've tried them all, rubber with spikes are all I use now and I fish 12 months a year.

Didn't test the hex aluminum soles which I have found to be the best for grip in-stream and also climbing up and down steep streambanks. Lots more edges than the aluminum bars.

Can't speak for other states but Maryland bans synthetic felt just as they do regular felt.

My Korker boots fall apart for one season used at Canal. They won't warranty it.

Here in Missouri, ALL fibrous soles are against the law.
