Most people who do this are overwhelmed by the ability to care for their animals. My youngest daughter works in the Department of Aging Services for the county where we live. She often has clients with animals they cannot care for, or are animal hoarders. It is sad. I agree it is horrible that this happens, especially for the animals. But, the causes are usually deeper than just being bad people.

A lot of people don’t know this, but once a horse loses that much weight, it’s very very very hard to get it back on them. This is a truly amazing story
Yeah, also you cant just feed em a whole bale of hay for breakfast lunch and dinner, they need to slowly gain their weight back otherwise bloating can cause a serious issue

@@Clipz425 in case you’ve never taken care of herbivores: if they are locked in a pen and you don’t give them access to hay and/or grass they starve. They can’t eat their own shit or mud. Just in case you can’t picture that imagine being locked up in a cell being able to see outside but no one brings you food.

Exactly! I can totally understand if you fall on hard times or something, it happens, that's life. But at least bring them to a shelter, sanctuary or something.
He pulled himself through it because he could sense he was being taken care of by kind souls for once in his life. All animals can sense what type of person you are I swear, especially horses haha

Feelings are the least of it. They have SYSTEMIC NEEDS. The person who did this is an unconscionable MoFu Animal themselves. All they had to do was get this horse to some d-d- GRASS. They were trying to kill him. Grotesque.
How can someone own such a large animal and not notice it’s dying? Are those people that callous and stupid?! Glad he got rescued by true humans with actual empathy and compassion for living creatures.
They do notice. They are evil. This wasn't a mistake. They were torturing and killing this horse because they are awful evil people. Probably serial killers too.

Anyone can do a crime. These people are beyond words of cruelty and abuse. Im praying they never have another animal in their "care" and please don't let them have any kids! Just think- we are only three or four generations back from the time we relied on horses for farming and transportation. Even then, having a horse and buggy was very upper middle class (according to my grandmother), but were a necessity for some occupations.

my daughter has a horse rescue and everyone of the horses she's brought to our farm have thrived , but one ( he had been starved for yrs ) but he was loved and fed and cared for for three months , a inoperable tumor the size of a basketball , finally took him. Our horses are loved and they love us .
Thank you for saving that horses life. He really was ready to die but I think he felt the love and care you had and he decided to give it his all. I’m so glad he’s living the life he deserves.
Not at all, they were not thinking about what the horse was thinking, if you think like a human you would come to realize that this horse needs a helping hand and if I'm here I'm the one to give it to him.
That horse was down to about 10% of his 'life' left, IF that. Once he felt real love, & was eating oats, etc., he KNEW he still had a drop or two of his 'fuel' left in his 'gas tank.' And, if you've ever seen a person do this exact thing, you know, without a doubt, you've witnessed a REAL miracle. He is so, so majestic, handsome, & regal looking! ❤❤❤

I can't imagine someone who acquires a horse but decides not to feed him/her!! Obviously, it's someone who doesn't consider that it matters how an animal is feeling (or perhaps doesn't even think that he/she can feel. I'd love to put that person in the same situation - to be under the power of someone who doesn't care if she/he lives or dies.

I see a horse in that condition and I think, humanity is seriously in trouble. But, then after he gets rescued by an amazing person, humanity is alive and well. I just wish no animal had to go through such abuse.😢
I would not be able to help myself from taking out someone who did this to another living being. She said "" they"" werent feeding him. So more than one individual was responsible for that innocent magnificent creature's suffering. How bout we have a meeting with them,, their asses meeting my foot. This makes me so angry. But we let 36,000 of our children die every single day of starvation so I guess it's not surprising that we also let beasts of burden supper so either. Not a proud moment for humanity
I think it doesn’t start out like that but owners fall on hard times get very sick themselves, then they like the resources of how to get help. I’ve always taken care of my animals, but I’ve known many people who fell on hard times they end, or the animal were sick. They did not have the ability to meet their needs and they also didn’t know where to turn to for help, if you have ever tried to help somebody rehome it even a dog or a cat the shelters the only places that will take them and they won’t commit to a rehoming, so how does it happen? It happens one day one week at a time and they don’t see the difference because each day doesn’t look that much further but then you walk in and you’re like holy cow. This is a nightmare scenario, we have so few resources for people if you don’t have support if you fall on hard times this is horrible and should never happen but I don’t think that anybody planned to do this. We need to offer people options and alternatives. There is barely an option for people to surrender their own infants when they are in the most dire of situations this is sad I’m very grateful the people in the video were able to step up but when we shred our social safety nets people have no more resources and then they hate them selves and it becomes harder and harder to look the animals, they care for in the eye, and that just leads to more neglect, but vilifying of the person who neglected this without keeping in mind the system that gave them no alternatives doesn’t prevent it from happening again strengthening social safety, nuts, and helping people with options when they are no longer able to care for their animals their children or even themselves this is what is needed. .

I'm not going to lie. Seeing that horse in that condition and fall over like that because a human being had betrayed him. It about brought tears to my eyes. For every devil that stands on two legs there's also an angel. I thank God you got to him when you did.
How could they do that ! It’s because they can’t talk doesn’t mean that they don’t have feelings. I never go to a zoo because I don’t like animals in a cage or in an environment that it’s not their natural habitat. When I went to Sri Lanka , I walked than riding a cart with a buffallo pulling me.
@@lvtravelworlddiscovery4477 unless your very overweight your not going to hurt the horse riding him. Horses, like people, come in an array of colors, races,& builds. As well as personalities. Some are better physically suited for certain tasks. It's been shown that many, not ALL, horses enjoy their work. I've even seen horses been down to allow for a bareback rider to mount. I just found that was interesting an thought I'd share. 🙂

So sad this happend more than you know, thank you for saving him. My wife and I rescued a 20 year old mare quarter horse several years back, nursed her back to health, she was about 250-300 lbs or more under weight skin & bones and sick from mal nutrition, they were feeding her bedding straw!! after calling the vet and farrier and much work she came back beautiful! Then we found her a forever home, we were so happy for her!

People do it through total ignorance. When my neighbour was alive he had two horses that he never fed. They lived on the same old patch for years. So thin. People reported him to the RSPCA but he was never punished. One horse died. Then when my neighbour died his children asked if I wanted the other horse. She was in a similar situation to this horse. She was checked by a vet. There was absolutely nothing wrong with her. I fed her up slowly and within a couple of moths she was absolutely gleaming. She has a good retirement now and she is with my little herd of misfits, surrounded by love, and a good feed twice a day. ❤
@Bynggo I just don't understand why it took you guys to take care of this. Someone had to have said something to somebody before you guys. I mean who doesn't know you're supposed to feed your animals, they can't live on error. ( air)
We need more resources that help animals rather than people. I would help an animal before I would a person in need 100000% I'm sick of being told to care about people when I rather put my focus on helping animals in need.
Such a close call! Why do people do that to animals? I just melted when I saw him flop down with a mouth of food. He looked so relieved and happy, like he could see the point of living again. Glad he had the strength to pull through.
