This is the most beautiful joining method I’ve seen, and I’ve been crocheting for about 50 years. Thank you for your excellent tutorial! Love it.

This was by far the best tutorial I found for connecting Granny Squares. I researched different methods for many hours. I was bored with all of the usual methods and was looking for something new and refreshing. Your step by step instructions were simple to understand. You made your stitches slow enough for me to be able to keep up. A beginner could easily use your instructions, but the end result looks like a very experienced stitch. Thank you for making it so easy.

+Bronislava Slagle (HandmadeRukodelky) I don't know how you could possibly be more clear than you already are. Your video is amazing. It is slow enough for a beginner to follow. I enjoyed watching and can't wait to use this method. Thank-you for sharing. Your accent is very soothing.

Thank you so much for this! I had 247 squares to join, but they had picots on the edge and I wanted them to keep their beautiful appearance. This method is perfect for all squares with rough edges. Many thanks for a very good tutorial!!

Thank you so much for taking so much time to explain and show exactly what you were doing. Some people go too fast and you can't see what they are doing. I love the look of this so much that I'm going to rip out the join I've done on a few large squares that I'm making a valance for my kitchen window and redo it with this stitch! I think I'll even change the colour of yarn (I used multi-coloured) to make it more noticeable. Thanks, again!

Excellent tutorial!! I just made a king size spread far a client that had written pattern. The written instructions were not very clear! It did not state "Cable" stitch & I relied in those written instructions. Now I kniw, by watching you, just how it should have been done!! I became very frustrated & it was a HUGE project! Thank you so very much! Client now wants an afghan made in same pattern. The blocks aren't granny squares but a solid sc w/heart pattern in center.

+Maureen Sellers Hi Maureen; I know how frustrating it can be, not understanding a written pattern. I have had to teach myself how to read patterns. When my grandmother taught me to crochet, she would show me an example and tell me to make a short post(single crochet), make a longer post(half double crochet) a longer post(double crochet) or an extra long post(Treble or triple crochet)to match the posts in the doily she used to show me. She didn't tell me the names of the stitches. She would point out the spaces and tell me to make a space that size, but didn't tell me that it was a chain 2 or a chain 3 space. The only way I could begin to follow a pattern was if there was a very close-up photo included with the pattern. I wish there had been tutorials available forty years ago. Vicki Henderson
@kittybitty3099
@kittybitty3099 7 лет назад
Maureen Sellers you really need to start learning how to read patterns. Because if you're only able to crochet from video tutorials you're never going to be able to actually crochet a lot of stuff, and not only that a lot of channels for crochet tutorials on RU-vid end up deleting all their old videos every month/every few months/every year/and some times every single week. So if you saved your most favorite patterns into a playlist on RU-vid so that you could come back and crochet the pattern again or so you could crochet it later on when you've gotten more experienced with crocheting, you're going to end up going into the playlist and seeing that almost all the patterns you've save are gone. It's REALLY not that friggin hard to learn how to read a pattern especially when you can look up on Google every thing you need to know about reading crochet patterns or look up videos teaching you how to read patterns!
@kittybitty3099
@kittybitty3099 7 лет назад
Maureen Sellers you REALLY NEED TO PAY ATTENTION AND WRITE EVERYTHING I TYPE IN THIS COMMENT INTO A NOTE BOOK, AS SOON AS I FINISH THIS VERY FIRST SENTENCE!! Ch=Chain, BOTH SL and ST= Slip Stitch, SC=Single crochet stitch, HDC= Half double crochet stitch, DC=Double crochet stitch, TR=Tremble crochet, TrTr=Triple tremble crochet, FPdc=front post double crochet, BPdc=back post double crochet, DC2Tog=Double crochet 2 stitches together, Dec=Decrease the number of stitches, Cont=Continue, Ch-sp=Chain space, Cl=Cluster, SC2Tog=Single crochet 2 stitches together, When working with multiple colors in a crochet project CA and=color A (Is the main of dominant color of the project, meaning there is more of the first color than any of the secondary color/or colors. MC means "Main color which holds the same dominance and meaning as CA " Color A) CB=Color B(one of the secondary colors if you're working with more than two colors, if you're working with just two colors then it is just the secondary color.), CC=contrasting colors, Rem=Remain/remaining, Prev=Previous, Both PM and PSM=Place stitch marker/makers, FPsc=Front post single crochet, BPsc=Back post single crochet, BOTH Pat and Pats=pattern and patterns, PC=Popcorn stitch, LP OR LP (S)=Loops, INC=Increase number of stitches, MM=Millimeters, Beg=begin/Beginning, Bet=Between, BOTH P and PCT=Picot stitch, BO=Bobble... Every pattern in a pattern book or on a pattern website WILL tell you what stitches are used such as CH,SC, HDC, DC, SL OR ST. They WILL always tell you what stitches and abbreviations are used in the pattern, before they even tell you how many chains you need to make and tell you what to do for the first row! So please write this all down and then go on the search bar on RU-vid or Google and look up the video tutorials showing you how to make a tremble crochet, a cluster, a front post DC, a back post DC, how to single crochet or double crochet two stitches together (which will decrease the number of stitches you have) and the rest of the abbreviations I typed out for you. After you see how to. Make all the stitches go to google and look up the other abbreviations. You will be able to read a crochet patterns and pattern books for beginners in no time if you do what I suggested. As I said if you don't learn how to read patterns and are only able to crochet along with video tutorials, you won't be able to do a lot of patterns for a lot of things and you WILL eventually lose all your favorite patterns from the video tutorials because they WILL be removed eventually. I've always been able to read patterns and I write down in my five subject note books (I buy them specifically for the purpose of writing the patterns in them) every pattern I come across on RU-vid so that I will always have it, and I also copy down all my patterns from every single pattern book so I'll always have them if the book gets lost or ruined, and I do the same for the patterns from pattern websites!

I hope I'm not bothering you by continuing to make comments, but honestly, I have to say that this is the best video available on joining squares by a flat braid. Some just show you how to get started but you have gone further by actually showing how to completely join more than one square. So thank you so very much. I've never done the flat braid join before but you have made it so easy to learn how to do it! Have a blessed weekend!

Thank you for posting this. I usually join by sewing together, but this is easier and looks much nicer. Sewing can be difficult if you are using a thicker yarn... Your English is very good, well done... Wonderful tutorial...

+Lynette Dalton I recently found that you can pause the video by hitting the space bar. When following along, it is so much easier than using the mouse since your hands are both busy with the yarn and the hook. I hope it works for you.

thank you for the nice comment. I haven't done any instructional video about borders, but this nice RU-vid creator did 5 simple borders in one video - you could use one of them - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-2Ba5iqMgzj0.html
