leonthelobster... A close up in depth look at Leon The Lobster molting for the 2nd time since he was rescued from a grocery store. A beautiful and touching video.
@TentaclePentacle I meant more, so the fact I started to watch this in lockdown of what was a soon to be eaten lobster in a tank to being rescued by Brady. I can't believe how fast the time has gone, and I was surprised because of the circumstances that he was still alive, considering how it all began.
Seeing his progress from when he was in the grocery store to when he was in your care is truly heartwarming. What's even more heartwarming is that lobsters dont really "die" of natural causes. You're gonna have this little guy around, possibly for the rest of your life. Leon has made me care very deeply for lobsters haha
@@bugguyonline So theoretically if we could assist in the molting somehow without stressing the lobster out (I imagine it as an old person trying to take their clothes off but can't, then suddenly giant hands appeared to strip them), we could have a lobster (if remains healthy) that grow infinitely? At least until it reaches a limit that's not existed yet in the wild.
@@ADKV95 technically there are medical substances for fish and crabs that just knock them out or makes them relaxe very much. So if someone figures out how to shed a Lobster without damaging it, and before doing so knocks it out, maybe?
@@Bradybrandwood your comments on hot water sensation for them is interesting given they dont feel pain. Their sensitivity to movement and vibrations is a separate thing all together. if you think of how theyre able to detach from the shell completely. Imagine being able to shed/exit your skin in one go. we couldnt due to pain so what theyre sensing isnt the same
This is beautiful. Question, have you stopped eating lobster since you’ve been raising him? Just curious. I’m a pescatarian myself, but watching him I think I’ll rethink my diet. Bravo to Leon. 🦞
@@zineguri8515of course they feel pain, they release the same hormones we do in response to pain, have a nervous system, opioid receptors and show reduced reaction to noxious stimuli when given anaesthetic.
It was Surreal, he left his old self behind, then he was the new Leon. the genuine care. The narration, music, and the true process of mother nature came through so well in this. I would be lying if I didn’t say I had waves of emotion through this process. Thank you, Brady.
Thank you Brady for showing Leon's second moult. Following Leon's journey is unique and the knowledge that you give is wonderful. Leon looks absolutely spectacular in his new shell and may he moult many times more.
What a striking and educational video! He is HUGE now. The moment when he actually emerged from the old shell was shocking. What a drama of danger and struggle, but ultimate triumph. Leon is a Phoenix!
I'd have never imagined I'd be so engrossed and invested in the day to day activities of a lobster, but I've been here the whole time! God bless you, Brady. Thank you from Warner Robins.
Not going to lie, watching Leon go through his molt was sort of distressing. But it is the cycle of life for him, and he came through shiny and bigger. You got some amazing photography here, Brady. I do not envy you being awake and staying up to film some of it!
I, too, was stressed out watching Leon go through his molt. I found myself holding my breath a few times. 😯 I was so relieved when he was finally free of his old shell. 😅
The molting is almost like a spiritual experience. It is like he is giving birth to himself. There are no words!! The whole journey from the supermarket to now is incredible. Thank you for sharing it with us! ❤
Leon is The King of Coolness. Appeared to me, that in the minutes following the shedding of his old armor, he kept returning to it, as if he was paying it homage for it's time in service. This ol' gal is in awe, seeing such gratitude from a Lobster named Leon. He is a fine example to us lowly humans. Brady, the content of your videos is a topnotch, fascinating education. Thank You and Leon. I learned that an Octopus displays many emotions, in the movie (My Octopus Teacher), but am now enlightened about the sensitivity and emotion in Lobsters, along with the many other things you show us in these wonderful Leon videos. Again, I say Thank You.
I had no idea the Lobsters shed their outer shell like that! That was amazing! The poor guy looked exhausted getting that done. I am so glad you took him home from the Grocery store.
Ever since I was a little kid when I saw the lobster and crab tanks in grocery stores I wanted to do this. I remember back then thinking they were for pet adoption and embarrassing my dad because when he told me what they were really for I started crying loudly in the middle of the store. Lol! So glad to see Leon thriving. I'm always telling people about his videos and they think it's kind of funny at first until they watch them and end up getting invested too. We all love Leon at my house! Congrats on his second molt!
Aw, Brady Loves Leon! The care and concern you have for him is clearly evident. I'm guessing you haven't eaten lobster since you got him? I have never eaten lobster - being boiled alive has got to be a horrible way to go. An excellent video, who'd have thought it would be so fascinating to watch? I love the music you use in your videos too, and your calming voice - all wonderful! I always rush to watch you when a new video appears!
Wow! I saw your first video when you first got Leo n and watched a few after. But lost track of it and just came across this one and I am simply amazed. I had never seen a lobster molt. Thank you for sharing that and yes, I am rooting for Leon also. 🎉you ROCK Leon!
I can’t bear to think about what it feels like for them being boiled alive 😢 I love to see Leon living a better life than the one he was destined for, on a plate. It’s been a great informative and close up look on a lobster so far and looking forward to many more. 😊
I've always been vegetarian (well since my mom read me Charlotte's Web around 6 and then took me to Austria to her farming village!!). As a child growing up in New Orleans I remember when my family or neighbors would have "crawfish boils", I would always steel one or two and bring them to the levee and set them free. I think, without being preachy, Brady and Leon have probably saved many lobsters and maybe even other animals. Maybe even crueler then being boiled alive is being starved with claws tied together (imagine being starved with handcuffs) for weeks? months? Leon was probably broken and wishing for death when he was chosen from the tank and voila, he's a star of the internet, living the life, given treats regularly and getting better and better digs.
I never thought id be so entertained by a lobster but i love this guy and his pet lobster, they have a special bond thats for sure, even staying up with him during the whole molting process, im sure leon knew you were right there with him if he needed you
I regret every lobster I ever ate. Stopped gobbling them about 20 years ago. You are doing so much to bring this species to be better understood. Thank you.
@@CrayTom Good, that was easy. I was expecting it to take much more to show the only flawed logic here was yours with the silly strawman you presented.
@@CrayTom @Qqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqq1 Strawman after Strawman while pretending to flaunt superior intelligence and puffing your chest. No one made the baseless claim that someone has to eat lobster or they are being made to eat lobsters. Simply face the inevitability that people will eat lobsters. It doesn't matter if one skips, two or a hundred. Someone will eat it if it's on offer and tastes good. Again no one said they must or it's being forced. It's an option we have and they taste fantastic so we do. And there always be a portion of the population who not only do but seek them out. This creates a market which makes it even easier to eat then because demand offers opportunities for money. Darn, we ended up here anyway. 🤷
Hearing Brady say "it's Gucci" cracked me up 😂 it's always so fascinating watching Leon molt. Here's to another great year of companionship with everyone's favorite lobster and his human
What a sweet channel! Thank you. What a wide awesome bunch of fans you must have. I bet you have people all ages all around the world captivated by Leon. 34 year old here from New Zealand. Keep up the nice work.
i had full body chills watching leon interact with his old self post-molt. just so powerful to see from where he started to where he is today. i’m so emotional and grateful to have been able to share in witness. thank you for rescuing and thank you for sharing
@@useyourdelusion6807I don't like this notion that its impossible to respect the animals you eat, i do eat meat, but i also recognize that i'm literally eating something that had to die for this to happen.(nothing against being vegan by the way) on the other side of this, i also find it irritating when people are incapable of seeing an animal we tend to eat as nothing more than that. There does not need to be a "one or the other" argument here, you are allowed to love the animals you happen to eat.
@@astick5249 is it really love then? Or just an appreciation coupled with the positive emotions the living animal makes you feel? The dopamine you get from the experience, is that a shallow love so to speak?
Holy smokes, Brady! You showed great restraint in not intervening when Leon flipped over. I think I may have dove in that tank in order to help him back to his feet. Thank you for letting us be a part of this wonderful event.
Been following the two of you (and your cats) since you brought Leon home and don't think I've missed an update! The last few moments of him in the video - just amazing! He looks so majestic! Your videos are so curious and educational, thx for sharing.
My family laughed at me at first, now they all watch Leon’s journey! I’m fascinated by animals and all the details of a species even tho I have no background in it. Thanks for doing this and great videography! I own a coffee cup but thinking there might be a shirt in my future! Cheers.
Thank you so much for the update! The whole world just loves Leon! You have done such a wonderful thing for this animal! It's so amazing and so wonderful to know he is happy and healthy and growing! Thank you so much Brady!
Im a new subscriber & have already gone thru several videos. Leon is beautiful! You e been such a blessing to him. Thank uou for saving him & for these wonderful videos! I cried in sympathy whenever my tarantula molted & I cried in sympathy for Leon. ❤ Thank you for brightening this ole womans life.
It must be very stressful for Leon to be so vulnerable when he moults, but the results are spectacular. I am fascinated by the colour changes, with the bright orange soft claws quickly turning black…and by the next day so large and beautifully mottled. He is one very handsome big guy. The difference in his claws size between moults is remarkable, even his face looks more dangerous. I have been loving this journey from day one.🖤🇨🇦
Brady I wish I could express how much I appreciate you and the great life you have given Leon. If he only knew how lucky he is. You are a good person. We need more like you in the world. I will never eat Lobster again. Just don’t need it. I also have to compliment you on your always totally perfect choices in background music. Others should learn from you and trust me this is something I know a great deal about. I always enjoy your perfectly crafted videos and seeing your friend’s progress. You have achieved much. Thank you.
Ive been watching since you took him home from the store. I never knew I would end up so invested in the life of a lobster. Love the updates, so glad you saved him lookforward to continue watching his journey
Man Leons colors are even more vibrant. That red under the claws almost glows. He is an absolute tank now. Amazing journey you have documented. As well as a really great job giving him a home and keeping him strong and healthy. Wonder what the next game of tug will be like.
This lobster will outlive this man. If the lobster is taken care of well enough, he could live "forever." This lobster could be passed down to this man's grandchildren and even THEIR grandchildren. As long as he has room, his habitat is maintained, he's fed well, and can shed properly, then Leon will live forever.
OH MY GOODNESS ALWAYS SO EXCITED TO SEE YOUR NOTIFICATIONS POP UP, ESPECIALLY WHEN ITS ABOUT LEON!!! I ♥️ LEON!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THE CONTINUED CONTENT I APPRECIATE IT, YOU HAVE SUCH A GOOD SOUL, YOU ARE A BEAUTIFUL HUMAN BEING AND THANK YOU FOR BEING YOU!!!
I've been watching since your first video but this my first time commenting. The filmmaking here absolutely amazing. Leaps and bounds above you earlier work ... and I absolutely love Leon. He's always a way to brighten up a day.
Wow! I love all your Leon videos but this one is extra interesting, to see something like this up close. I'm amazed that lobsters survive this in the wild, they're extremely vulnerable like this.
Leon looks amazing in his new suit! I raise tarantulas and they turn on their backs as well when molting. No matter how many times I watch it, I still get a sinking feeling in my stomach and hope beyond hope that everything goes well. I'm SO glad that you have each other to share this journey with. Love and many blessings to you both.
Following you since day one and to see the difference in the claw sizes of the molts and the rubber band marks had me balling like a baby! Love him so much and thank you again for all you do for our friend.
This is truly incredible. Thank you so so much for this. I’ve been going through some things and this video gave me a few minutes to pause and feel good
This is such an amazing video. Seeing how Leon molted is incredible what they need to do to survive. I am so glad you decided to keep him and give him a home. Thank you!
That is absolutely amazing! Thank you for giving Leon a new life. I can't even walk past the lobster tanks in the grocery store now that I've been watching Leon live and grow since the first video you made.
Watching Leon shed his old shell reminds me of someone getting out of a Halloween costume. The struggle is real. Brady, I have learned so many things about lobsters I never knew, like shedding their shell, didn't know lobsters did that. Thank you for taking us on Leon's life journey. I enjoy your videos so much.
The drama captured by your skilful camera work is as beautiful as it is emotional. I had no idea these amazing creatures molted in what seems to be a painful and vulnerable process. I commend you for your excellent video skills in bringing this colourful transformation of Leon to our attention.
So interesting to hear your decription, explanation, and interpretation regarding Leon's moult! I think your whole Leon series is a very important document. And getting to know Leon is great. 😊
What a great adventure with Leon, it’s amazing how he survived with your idea to take him from a market. I’m following each and every steps in the videos you share with us, i’m thankful to have this opportunity. The way you talk about Leon is significant enough to catch my attention and even my cats are watching with me *not joking. Can’t wait to hear again from Leon. A big thank you 🙏🏻💙🦞
I’ve watched all the videos of Leon. Let me say, he has progressed SO much in life! I love watching his journey, and I always get exited for another video. His new enclosure is AMAZING!!! SO MUCH LIFE! I love seeing the little crabs scurrying for food 😂 keep up the good work!
@@nvgboiyes6386 That would be an extreme outlier. Generally they're believed to live about 45-50 years. What's interesting though is that they don't really age like other animals do. The limiting factor to their lifespan is the moulting process. The bigger they get the more energy it takes, so eventually they reach a point where they die from exhaustion during a moult.
You’ve done an amazing job looking after Leon since rescuing him from the shop. Definitely Leon the lucky lobster (book title? Hehe). I feel privileged to have been part of his journey from the beginning. So nice to not see any rubber band marks on new old Leon’s claws. Really loving the camera work on this video.
