I had been told (by the person I bought my wheel from) that you can splice the band ((with cutting and heating, I believe it was) and tighten that way. For when the band becomes stretched.

Hi Phoebe - yes, the drive band can be melted with a flame and then manually fused together. That is how they make them at the factory. Many people prefer to just purchase new and install premade bands.

It would be easier to apply the band to the drive wheel, and then attach to whorl
