Watch me paint a portrait on Legion Oil Paper by Susan Lyon 

Im sorry for the following long comment but it needs to be said!! 😅 Oh gosh. Where do i start.. firstly amazing painting, your way with the brush is great i wouldve never thought of the "pastel" like quality with legions oil paper.. Secondly, that flashback video with Scott was also awesome! Thanks for the posts! Okay lastly, my issue, and thats with Legions Oil Paper.. i feel bad for saying this but i just could not get with it.. All my oils would absorb so quickly that i felt like my paint would be completely gone before i finished the painting session(it was a still life so many colors were used). Maybe i shoud have done more scumbling as you shown. Also im guessing you put down a black ground before doing this painting? Im sure that would help also. Basically maybe i had a bad run with Legions, ive tried Arches version and had much better luck as it didnt seem so absorbent albeit still had some absorbency. Maybe ill give it another go with a ground and some stumbling. I also noticed the more layers you put down the easier it seemed to paint.. I realized it's not about kind of color or canvas or brush you use , it's about your deep skills which you earn during decades. you can create a masterpiece by using any kind of color or brush
