You need a magnetic bowl (sold at auto parts stores, that’s so easy to find everywhere if you don’t want to buy online) I use a small one on my sewing machine & a large one on my sewing table for pins. Bonus: the magnetic bowl can be used to find fallen screws or pins!
I actually had a few of these lying around from when Madi was a little, and we would do art projects together. I'm totally doing this! Thanks Steve, my guru!
Try laminating paper for the resin seal maybe….much wider & you can trim it with the backing on before sticking to your project. Just an idea that came to mind while I was watching 🤔😁 And perhaps Goo Gone for the stickiness….its orange oil so it shouldnt dull the resin Very beautiful box, cant wait to get to my local dollar store & clean them out 😌
I bought silicone tape to use for molding and more than likely it's a lot more expensive than the tape you're using. Thanks to you I'm learning more every time I watch one of your videos. Thank you!

What a lovely project! I've not seen the filigree boxes around just yet, but I live far out in the cow country, and will check the craft stores on my next outing to the city, or keep an eye out on Amazon and etsy. As you started this, I could also see how UV resin could easily be used for this as well. Very nice work, Steve!
Beautiful job Steve! Love how it turned out. Would you suggest painting it first or would the tape mess up the paint job? Definitely going to try this out when I get more confident with my skills. Still a bit lacking, but not giving up ever!! Happy Father's Day! 😊

Hi Steve Greetings from Poland. Have you ever had a problem of resing sinking into the wood and creating darker spots in it? Or does the wood You are using have some sort of protective layer? Best, Wojtek
@@SteveMcDonaldArtsandCrafts Thanks for the reply! :) Haha, sometimes i wish in Poland things were called simpler than they are, for example You have a 'sealant' to 'seal' the wood, but here we have to research if it's kind of lacquer or impregnator or something completely different. Cheers! Wojtek
What kind of paint did you use and did you add glitter to the paint? I just bought a large box just like this at hobby lobby on clearance because one side of lid had come off but it was inside of the box.
