I have seen almost all his an old videos and interviews, he is the same person as he is now, same vision, passion to do something for his Nation.Due to his true devotion towards country is the reason that he is at a such powerful position. He worked really hard for it, and he deserved to be our PM. Every true Indian knows he will never take it for granted. As he says he is pradhan sewak not pradhan mantri.

Look at his vision 20 years ago when he would not have even dreamt of CM leave PM. He was talking about the potential of tourism potential of India and what should be done to promote that. His many foreign trips as PM was also had this idea apart from foreign relations.
Look at the consistency. If you only hear the audio, you won't be able to tell this was 20 years ago. He was speaking with responsibility like he was PM already. This clarity of thought one can only have when they have in-depth knowledge and they completely believe in it. It is completely opposite to other politicians who acts as opportunistic and read speeches from paper.
