This video is of an emergency meeting declared by North Plains City Officials With Only 24 Hours' Notice in order to vote to remove the growth referendum from the ballots. Over 150 people were in the Zoom. Despite raising the question to allow public input, the Council, egged on by City Attorney Chris Crean, defied public sentiment and refused to hear from people. They later voted to eliminate the referendum from the Ballot even before a new State Law had been passed (House Bill 4026). Now, the good people of North Plains who worked so hard to get a referendum against North Plains Officials doubling the size of the City have had their voices squelched. There will be no vote. Watching this today, it was obvious- North Plains Mayor Teri Lenahan and her Council are afraid that if this Vote was held, the result would have been a complete indictment of her policies. Not only did she and others get the State to sneak in a bill to retroactively deny citizens from voting on growth, but she killed the vote which would have just been a point in time marker of how her people feel. This was the most horrifying and bizarre public hearing I have seen in years. The people of North Plains and Washington County had better wake up. This is not the first time this has happened, and the rights of the people are being subverted and taken. Very shocking indeed!
