Happened to me once. I wasn't fishing just on the boat. Fish was flopping everywhere. Hurting a few people till a guy,who fishes regularly, walks up a stomps its head and it stopped moving. No the fish didnt make it but it fed 3 to 4 people. 😅
They will Wreck you if you don't know how to handle them on your line , they are very Powerful Fish , i know cause we would always fish for them here on the Island and sometimes we are still hoping not to get a bite , my Brother caught one and its still talked about today after 40 years or more ! Guys would try but few have landed them ! these Tarpons are Damn Powerful !!!😮
Yeah and if you were put in his environment with no escape, the fish on FishTube would joke as they watch you struggle, "Inhale, exhale, inhale, exhale...nothing's working!"

Better do something before he leaps out of the boat and back into the water. Nice fish. That will feed you nicely for a while. That cooler is holding up pretty good after the thrashing it took.

Hope it survived , When I was snorkeling yesterday, I saw a fin and something big so I swam over to it and it was a huge tarpon with 18 to 20 of his friends ! I would guess their weight varied from like 40 to maybe 200 pounds ! They weren't afraid of me I swam with them for a couple minutes and then they started circling me , and the visibility was 15 ' it was so amazing, to bad I didn't have an underwater camera

I would make sure he doesn't get back in that water, and that would be the end of a satisfying fishing trip. The guy trying to hold it down understood that assignment though.
