Yeah, both of these are ridiculous deals and very capable. The Red cat has so many upgrades though, that it’s definitely comp crawler material if one so desires. Really glad you liked the course. Wanted to do something outside but my yard is a big muddy puddle that needs to dry before I can walk on it, and I didn’t have enough daylight still to go somewhere to go trailing. So, this managed to work well enough inside. Good enough to show the capabilities of both rigs as they come, right out of the box! Such a great comment, I had to pin it!🤩😊

Within 5mins austar is much improved... remove hitch and rear tire, cut of plastic tips limiting steering... 2 more mins.. add some weight upfront... got mine up 67 degrees easy...

I haven’t had the motivation to make any videos lately. Grayson is less interested in RC’s now and it’s less fun without him. I still have plenty of projects to do and finish and I will just not motivated to do it right now
I went through that with my kids.they both more or less lost interest. Took me a while to realize that I was interested in this stuff before they were born , so now I do it for me. But they will always be welcome to hang with Dad, whether it’s playing Rc’s or anything else. Time to live a bit for you! Take care buddy!

Hey Robby, great video. The Redcat Ascent is a real beast when it comes down to mini crawlers. The Austar Hobby can handle it own as well, small upgrades and it will handle the 45 degree hill slant and will do a sweet job on the 50 degree hill climb. Both are excellent mini crawlers.💪💪💪💪💪💪

No hurry though.Probably the Austar first , with proper oil filled shocks and some negative offset wheels as well as predator tires as well. 1:18 scale I feel is the best scale for mini/micro crawlers. Redcat support not great where I am. Gotta check out that Austar though. Great comparison. thanks for the vid.
Yes, your right about that. RedCat still has to do better about getting marketing and support teams to more parts of the world. Not sure why they are acting so slowly. Too bad , as they have great service and support where they do have it. I just got the Ascent last week and ran it yesterday and I really like it. I was really surprised on how well it runs right out of the box and it is a great deal for the performance of it! Take care Robby and I enjoyed the head to head look at them!

I had to buy a magnifying glass that attached to the table to get the 1" beadlocks set up and some of the other smaller stuff. Losing your near site sucks.

Hey Robby, loving the video, a great review of those mini crawlers, Redcat and the Austar, perfect consumer advice for those on a strict budget and want some of the performance of the larger manufacturers, but not the cost. That is the BFYB awesomeness 😊😊 I think the portal axle gearing on the Redcat, really helped that up the 50° incline 😊 the Austar is very scale looking, the Redcat had the slight advantage over the Austar, but still, both very impressive 😊😊you’re providing some valuable advice my friend, performance goes to the Redcat, but I would say looks to the Austar. I agree the Austar certainly covers the terrain very well, but has that scale look covered well. A “2 for 1” if you will. The Redcat , even tough a nice clean looking rig , is a true out of the box performer, with many of the features and power of a more expensive comp rig, all right out of the box and at such great price! So much value in both. I love it, and so will many people new to the hobby or not. It’s a winner! I always value your comments John and way with words! Yeah, I agree! If something breaks though than will usually upgrade to better parts if it’s not too expensive and make it better at that point. Shocks might be the only exception if the stock ride is bad. Thanks for chiming in ! This is great to hear thanks!😃👍🏻

I really want a WPL Jimny and a Tamiya Hotshot.... but unfortunately, those won't happen either. I'm still beating myself to death over the "big lie" from almost 2 years ago. .. God forgives me, but none of my friends, or my wife, do. And CERTAINLY don't forgive myself. I have to vent to someone. .... You've always been nothing but good to me. You've heard the term "broke as a joke"? Well, they're the upper class compared to my situation. 😢 The irony is, when I get back to making videos, they will be of projects from a 3 year hiatus, when my daughter moved back in, taking every inch of my avaliable work area... The projects will include 3 $600.00 and up RC Semi Trucks. With more than $2500 worth I sound, light and power electronics... So, have a couple of Blessings to count. My birthday is in 8 days.... I'm not expecting anything. Another irony, do you remember about 3 years ago I got that huge Inheritance? I spent over $10,000 helping friends with new, premium RCs.... Well, thanks to my colossal cock up, NONE of them are talking to me, and I'm certainly not expecting any return favors. My fault. The biggest irony? Since my ultimate sin 2 years ago, that I got down that rabbit hole because of frustration over not having any video made of my days in music... and the accolades from the lies I perpetrated, fueled me deeper down the hole. WELL...... NOW my band mates actually found videos of me, really making music. But I don't have anyone who wants to see it. A grand example of why lying is BAD. Like nobody knew already. You must forgive those who have hurt you, love them, but move on. Doesn’t mean you have to be friends again or put yourself out there again only to be hurt, but forgive them and move on. So let me get this straight you were kind of playing the roll of an Rc Elf too! Dude you have such a big heart , I can tell. Your are a good man,who loves Christ. Don’t you know though, that’s all that matters when it comes to getting to be with him in heaven. It’s not your good deeds, or your gifts, (even given with good intentions), it’s your love for him! The only gift he cares about you sharing is his truth, light mercy and Grace with others that need and want it! Let him truly forgive you and move on with him. We may even have to leave the people we love and hold us back behind. You will get through this my friend. God may use you, or your talent in music, or even this hobby to save another like yourself, or he may take it all away and lead you somewhere else. Regardless just follow him. @BangForYourBuckRc Robby..... God almost took me home.... There were several times when my self punishment nearly led me to the unthinkable. Only my Grandbabies beautiful faces, tattooed on my heart, stopped me. God has touched me in ways that most couldn't imagine! I keep getting in my own way though. Frustrating thing is, I grew up with every advantage! My Dad was Uber successful, even famous! He received the Congressional Medal of Honor, for almost single handedly PREVENTING a nuclear war between Egypt and Israel!!! That was one of many things, that left this kid thinking "What have I ever done?" Everything he pursued, he was a success, every challenge, he excelled! He was LIKED by everyone he met. He had a special charisma, charm.... Again leaving me thinking "WTF have I done?" The Band I had and the music we made were 100% real.... How I've portrayed it to everyone in the past 15-odd years, was 100% BS!!! My "Justification" if you could call it that.... In the age of RU-vid, everyone stopped believing me, without proof. So I regrettably put my name, and sometimes my face, to other people's videos! I have to live with that shame for however much longer I'm here. My shattered heart and broken spirit, doesn't think I'll be here much longer.... just my observation. I've got a good chance to make it to 60.... since it's now only 6 days away. I regret asking for presents.... I'm not getting anything, and don't feel I deserve it anyway.
@BangForYourBuckRc Robby...... I'm watching a lot of your videos this morning. I'm trying not to inundate you with comments.... But I have to ask, what do you think of the Redcat Ascent 18? As I've said too often, I don't get to talk to anyone anymore... And I really want your feedback. Personally, I'd dump the body! It's not scale, detailed, no interior, no lights. BUT, every video I've seen, loves the Ascent 18 chassis and speed control. How are you liking it? I got an idea in my fat head, to fit my WPL Toyota Hilux body on it. The wheelbase is nearly identical! My rig has both blown differentials and axles, but an upgrade 370 gearbox with metal bearings. I think this idea would help pull myself out of my deep rut, by keeping my idle hands busy. What do you think, Robby? I ask, knowing that even $99 is a lot more than I can afford, for a long time. Maybe I can sell something. I need to do...... something. Anyway, I'm Praying, and talking to my Pastor. ... a lot. She agrees that I need something to exercise my mind in a positive way. I'm not completely idle though... The past few months I've been volunteering at our church's food bank. It's rewarding for sure! But I also have to exercise my imagination, in a positive light. My Pastor has also been my therapist, and she practically insists on it. I just have to make it happen.
