Very true, people downplay advisors role, until burnt by their mistakes. I remember just after my layoff early 2020 amidst covid outbreak, I needed to stay afloat, hence researched for license advisors. Sorry, but Guy forgets the most important points: - meeting inflation taget is the key to credibility for a Central Bank and is a must have to insure good macro and micro economic forecast for the state, labour, companies. - a central bank fears the selffulling prophecy. And it can easily come by global fear created in social media. Of course they start shouting "we are in recession", "we wont meet the inflation stability target". And shouting it everywhere will certainly not help either. Just saying. We live in a world where everybody wants an opinion on everything, biology, politics, strategy, social, monetary theory...

Guy & team, Regarding physical cash notes, here in Japan: Modest payments and gift money (weddings/births, etc) should traditionally be done in what's called 'new notes'. On the other hand, when going to a wake for the newly deceased, the traditional cash "help money" MUST NOT be in new notes. Traditionally, the note should be folded in half. New Year cash gifts to children, notes are folded in four. To go CBDC the Japanese BOJ's own senior staff would have to convince the entire country that the above traditions don't matter... NOT an easy sell, at all. (I hope!!!)

Homes used to cost $20,000 when interest rates were 20% give or take. In the early 1990s interest rates started to drop dramatically. Home prices soared like an eagle! To put this in prospective say you bought a home for $60,000 when interest was at 11%. And your payment was lets just say $500.00. Then rates dropped to 6.5% but the price of that same home jumped to $110,000 with about the same payment. Which one of these homes would be easier to payoff early? I know id rather be paying off a $60,000 home early at a higher interest rate then a $110,000 home at a lower rate. Plus my bank or CDs will be paying more interest. Lower interest rates were a curse on the economy and bleed people out of their money and they didn't even realize it. They thought it increased their buying power but in actuality it cost them 10s of thousands of dollars more in the long run.

@@darrenphilip247 That's correct. At first, I wasn't too pleased with my gains compared to my previous performances, I was doing so poorly, I thought I needed to diversify into better assets, so I got in touch with him. That same year, I pulled a net gain of 550k, which is about 10 times more than I average on.

Global rates are at a historic low coming off of the lowest rates ever(0.00). So when they say, “we have to keep rates ‘high’” it sounds strange when they’re anything but high.

The interest rates should be the amount of the overhead needed to run the banking maintenance costs plus the amount of a profit based on the rules of a free capitalist market. Without any government or any other agency interference.

Jerome ain’t that data dependent… if he was, he’d understand that the issue with the labor market is due primarily to declining birth rates. There are too many older folks requiring more services than we have people for. Jerome trying to use a 70s/80s methodology for a 2023 problem. He is in over his lawyer head.

I do NOT like the quote about winter being mild in Europe so there wasnt much demand for energy.. Meanwhile it was indeed mild yet the prices of gas etc went skyrocketing high and A LOT.. I mean A WHOLE LOT of people got into trouble.. we (me and the family) never had such an expensive mild winter.. Meaning we had to wear multiple layers of clothes and blankets indoor to save costs on gas.. and still barely being able to pay the bills.. and again this was a mild winter. And they blame the Russian war which is just too easy of a scape goat .

The federal reserve bank went deep into the red in 2019, and the reason they are slowly raising interest rates is to milk more interest.

No. It's because that's their only option to combat inflation. They have to raise rates...which is putting many other investments underwater.

Mr. Bailey got 2 things right- remarkable record for a Central Banker. 1/ .That artificially high Energy costs - c/o'Net Zero ' mendacious Idiocy- are a key factor in Inflationary trends 2/. Brexit has sod all effect on Inflationary pressures; if anything it had a braking Effect.

Odd how 2% interest works into government plans. In 50 years prices double. But incomes have not doubled for most workers, so businesses assuming the 2% expressed by the governments have priced themselves out of the market simply because incomes did not keep up. I think we are headed back to the barter system for most of our daily needs and the cbdc cards will only cover portions of our economy until governments abuse the system. Then a full pull out of government interference will be initiated.
