Watch The Beatles rehearsing “Don’t Let Me Down” in the Apple Studios, from Peter Jackson’s Original Docuseries "The Beatles: Get Back". Experience the three-part event on Disney+ starting tomorrow, November 25th. #thebeatlesgetback
"You're giving us a lift Bill." "We've been doing this for days, y'know." Love how much fun Billy Preston seems to be having here. He was a legend, props to John and George for paying compliments to his fantastic playing because they're right. He's worked with the best in the industry and this is just further proof that his ability on the keys, especially here, is out of this world. It perfectly fits the groove/vibe of the track, I can't wait to stream this and see all of these elements play out in the next few days.
Right. Plus he doesn't "take over" the track - it just sounds like the Beatles. I always forget it wasn't Paul or someone on keys until I see the video
Full props to everyone in this, but I also just want to point out not enough credit is given to how perfect Ringo's drumming is. He's so quiet but his skill can't be overstated.
Definitely. I've only seen Paul give Ringo direction once in a rehearsal. The rest of the time, he had a telepathic understanding and just fitted in seemlesly.
"Don't Let Me Down" is another underrated Beatles song, and Billy Preston's keyboard playing is a perfect match for the Beatles' impeccable musicianship.
Ringo is never at the forefront of these videos, but he is always first in with a beat that drives the others forward while they riff. He's not the best drummer, but he's exactly what The Beatles needed
what do you mean. For whom it was easier to have a full lyrics book? The lyrics grow with the composition... as you see in rehearsal here... very seldom they had a text in a piece and after the music... but sometimes yes.
I don't know, but they are the only band that has ever made me happy in my life. I will never get tired of listening to their beautiful music. Sadly I don't have Disney+💔
Just subscribe to it. It’s not a fortune, worth it if you love them as much as you say you do!!👍🏻😅 DVD’s???? Do people still buy them? Can’t believe they’re still produced to be honest.
I really couldn't imagine the world without The Beatles. Their songs are masterpieces and truly timeless. Message to future generations, never let their songs die!!!
I used to live by the Beatles songs….now I would hear once in awhile and it never gets old…..something about their songs that lets you forget about all the troubles in the world and makes you feel at ease
You can feel the band's satisfaction as soon as Billy filled in with those notes. After watching their frustration leading to that point, it's so damn refreshing. All of a sudden, everything was perfect.
Restoration is amazing. Remember...by the time John, Paul and George were 20 they had played more, way more, than 10,000 hours together. They worked incredibly hard, don't forget it.
Epstein wanted a fresh innocent look and needed to erase the Beatles rough, uncouth history. The early Hamburg years and their collective 10k hours are essential to understanding why they are so good. Also, don't forget John had just turned 28 in Oct 68. Paul is 26 and George still only 25 in Jan 69.
I wouldn't say "amazing", I'm sure it needed work, but everything they did makes the image look waxy and lacking in pretty much any detail. Like at 1:04 with Ringo, it's like someone painted him instead of it actually being him. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad they finally are going to release it, and I realize they had 60hrs or film. But that's not what film is supposed to look like.
@@milesonly.2608The Rutles are cry babies. The Beatles didn't copy/steal very much from The Rutles. I'm really sick of their fan club complaining in these comments.
What I have always appreciated about The Beatles is their studio sessions were always about recording the 'group'. I know they did a lot of over dubs and experimented with the studio trickery of their time, but the core was always the ensemble. For me, when I listen to them even today, this ensemble 'band' approach is still, even after 50 years, what I find most attractive.
He really made the Beatles sound like a different band. George invited him to join the sessions and the others said great. Outside person helped ease the tensions they were having among-est themselves. You let's behave we have company.
Billy Preston, you legend. It's great that a young generation will get to see Billy Preston through this film. If you give him a Google you'll see he had a legendary career but said his favourite moment musically was on that roof with The Beatles.
i loved this docu series so much, cause even though they are the biggest stars in the world, they're still these kids from liverpool and you can really see that here
It's so interesting to see the changes a song goes through before it's it's recorded and released as a finial product. The greatest band in history had to hammer out all the details to achieve a monumental sound. Billy Preston had a large part in that. He was the fifth Beatle!
The fact that these videos are in HD emphasizes the timelessness of the Beatles.. It makes you feel that these are still happening these days, that they are still in some studio some somewhere and they are still in that age, and they are still working on more albums to come..
If they only knew then, how special this would be in 2022. I dont know, maybe you have to be a real Beatles fan, but this music, all of their music, takes me to a very special place. I love these guys.
I wish there were video recordings of the making of Please, Please Me, Rubber Soul, Revolver, and Sgt Pepper. This was fascinating. It really let us see them all as people.
52 years ago--sounds like yesterday and these songs are still fresh!! Critics panned this album but when you just listen then by God some great music tickles your ears!! What a joy to watch them create--not working, but creating more beautiful music. Let's also not dismiss Billy Preston who was fantastic during these sessions. Nobody else EVER spent that much time in the studio outside of the 4 lads!! Billy was cooking on the keyboard and the organ!! Yeah baby--Beatles and Billy in their musical laboratory in 1969!!!! WOW!!!!!!!
We are so fortunate these video's were produced to get a back stage glimpse of life as a Beatle there is the ability with them each member enhances the others genius I haven't heard or seen much frustration from them in any of the clips I've viewed they all sort of bang away at their instruments then BAM all of a sudden they come together and deliver a classic I am so grateful to be of an age that witnessed this phenom from beginning to end
Wonderful to see them just as they were, human with immense talent. Billy Preston brought such a refreshing musical glue and delivered imo a amazing cover of Isn’t It A Pity thirty three years later at the Concert For George😎👌
I never check my phone on my work, well, that is when it's not a Beatles notification with unseen material from "Let It Be". Its the third time this weak Im interrupting my job to watch a Beatles video. Cant wait to tomorrow!!
Watched it this morning. Seeing them rehearsing, writing and watching their songs evolve from the beginnings is truly amazing. Can't wait for the next part!
It seems like this was recorded yesterday. True talent is ageless and timeless. I am so glad these videos are available for young musicians to see and hopefully be inspired by. We need to return to actual, quality sound.
John was such a great person, the opposite of a hypocrite, full of sarcasm for hypocrisy, ignorance, stupidity and greed, that's why he appeared complicated and arrogant for some people. But in fact, he was an extremely peaceful and friendly person.
Maybe I'm naive or maybe that's the reason why these guys are professionals but I'm amazed at how Billy Preston can just join in and seem to give the songs exactly what they need without having to introduce him to the song or rehearsal. Or maybe that's on the footage not yet made public.
The song is quite simple and he was a very accomplished session musician with great taste and complete mastery of the music genres that inspired the Beatles. It works like that.
It felt like we were going to have to wait forever but this we are finally going to be able to watch Get Back Tomorrow I’am very excited😂 I hope that they release it on Blue Ray because I think that physical product is 1,000 times better than streaming
I remember i had to stand in a long queue outside a record shop to get The Beatles latest single when i was about 6 years old for my teenage sister...it got to me and they were sold out! not to worry...i went back the next day and got it for her.
Yep, all we got was Billy playing in 2 more songs in Abbey Road a few months later but that's it. As someone who was born decades after they broke up, I've always wondered why couldn't they just take some time off and come back in 2 or 3 years. Why did they HAVE to disband at the peak of their career. The Bee Gees broke up around the same time but they got back together later. And so did other bands. It's really unfortunate, I would have loved to see what 1970s Beatles would have been like.
Everything is a sweet sounding on this, the bass, the guitar riff, rhythm, and Ringo ticking away with melody, and the Great Billy Preston doing his thing, Possibly top 5 Beatles songs imho, love if
As a kid listening to classic rock obsessively, I always thought it would have been amazing to have heard Jim Morrison sing this one with the Doors. Manzarek holding it down on keys. Krueger said guitar style would have worked too. But mostly just Jim’s voice for some reason, I think they would have killed it on this one.
Sounds like this is really gonna change the whole entire narrative of the end of the Beatles. I've been paying close attention to this project. Every bit of footage brought together by Peter Jackson completely destroys the notion that this was a band at each other's throats. That these guys were miserable and couldn't wait to end it. The truth is in the footage that has been locked away for 50 years, not in that depressing snippet of dark, fuzzy, awful quality tape put out all those years ago. They might not be as happy as they were when they were working on the Revolver or Rubber Soul albums which was truly all 4 of them locked in at their peak, but damn they still seem to be having a good time. Too bad George and John aren't here to see this. Throw all the old bones between them all out the window.
What narrative is going to change? George left during this sessions. Before the year was over after the rooftop concert, The Beatles were no more. Don't buy into the revisionism, just enjoy the footage ;)
Interestingly, Paul McCartney said something very similar. He spent decades remembering how horrible a time it was but he'd completely forgotten how many good times they'd actually had during these sessions.
While I think this footage is great, doesn't anyone else notice that there is some filter applied to the video like as if it was put through an ai upscaler? It makes it look kind of soft instead of sharp.
Yes, there's one face shot in particular that looked very bad. I'm trying to be charitable and think "well, the original film was out of focus" but it just didn't look right. I'm sure I'll cope lol.
