Watch This BEFORE Buying an 04-08 Acura TL 

I have a 2004 automatic and it has17300 miles and engine and transmission are perfect

I have a 08 Manual Type-S A-Spec and honestly I don’t see it all the time (regardless of Transmission and Color) I only see once-twice per 3-4 months. A lot of my friends, families, and coworkers says I’m the only that has it and has it the way it is. I can say mines in great shape, no leaks, no crack dash, no busted suspensions, etc. I had my clutch, water pump and timing belt done around 2021 with the help of a Honda Master Technician (to make sure they’re done right) and I’m a Toyota Technician. I had it since 2010 and never had an issue (yet), probably because I maintain it up to date to the best of my ability. Only modifications I have are Wheels/Tires, Coilovers, Camber Kit, 15% Windows Tint. Engine and Body Panels all OEM.

You forgot to mention the hands free link (HFL) unit that drains your battery when it goes bad. If you see “booting up” message on the MID and it doesn’t go away, unplug it or replace. If not, it will drain & kill your battery eventually.

I picked up My 07 Type best with a 6 speed on Monday And immediately drove it to the dealership to get that recall done on the power steering high pressure line And now waiting until next week to do timing belt and water pump

My tl had oil pump leak and Rear Main seal leak had to change all the seals and now I'm leak free YAY!!

Great video! These cars are seriously great. A good example or one that’s fixed up can be very reliable for many more years and miles. The best part is almost all the parts Acura still sells new and in most cases worth the difference in price compared to aftermarket companies. I’d like to add too an important repair or issue you guys in the market should look out for is the rear main seal! It can be a costly repair if it hasn’t been done. Hopefully the video inspires others to get a 3rd Gen!

I have a 2004 Acura TL, was my daughters. I changed the timing belt/water pump myself last year. The old timing belt looked just like the new one, no cracks, no signs of wear. I took the amp out and replaced around 20 capacitors since audio was barely on. Just finished changing front wheel bearings and rotors. Transmission is working pretty good, no problems, but I change the fluid regularly, but to do it properly I changed 3 quarts, then week later 3 more, week after last time, that changes pretty much all of it......... had a oil leak at my filter housing, pulled it off and changed o-rings.............replaced all motor mounts..... only buy OEM ones the cheap ones do not work............these engines are bullet proof, will last forever. Biggest issue was a parasitic draw on battery, found the HFL was responsible and took it out completely. If these cars are driven the way they should be they will last, it's all maintenance and care...........and they are fast.......love it. By the way the car has 280,000 miles on it, should go well over 400,000............

I have a 6 speed manual ‘06 Navi. I did the timing belt mounts and subframe and so many other parts. It’s sweet car. I love the suspension tech. Q- if I did these mods how would I pass smog in CA?

Great video man! I'm looking at a 1-owner M/T 2008 TL Type-S with 140k miles on it. The timing belt and water pump were replaced at 100k miles but that was in 2015. Would I need to replace the timing belt soon? Its also still on its original clutch which tells me the owner babied it but I think that will need to be replaced soon too. Thank you!

Thanks for the video man, it is very hard to find a type S model where I live and but I found a base model with the 3.2 Liter without navi system which has a result title too and 104k km on it, how much $$ is a good amount to pay for that, Idk, should I get it or not, if anyone has any idea!!

hey Dhruv, I am at the buying decision of 08 type s. which one is more sensible choice auto or manual? auto has 220000 kms with some mods on it. where as manual is really well maintained 205000kms on it. but manual is asking for $13000 CAD. is it worth it ?

Is it confirmed that the 07-08 base model transmissions have been beefed up also besides just the Type-S

So that's the reason for the Automatic transmission slow shifting for my the 06 model transmission?

im pretty sure that your wrong about the 04-06 transmission sharing the same as the second gen, they got a new one. I have an 04 with over 100000 miles with no problems yet
