Good tips. Nigeria is not safe. Lagos might be but Nigeria as a whole isn't considering the high number of militants, muslim extremists and herdsmen, etc

Lol, V.I hotel and Lekki are far more expensive than airport hotels, Ikeja is reasonable. I agree with trying local foods, but advise them to BE CAREFUL where they eat because of lack of sanitation at many roadside eateries, restaurants are a bit better, but the spices gave me diarrhea and obviously that was not fun. Advise them to drink bottled water, NOT pure water sachets. There are impurities that can make a foreigner sick. My friends exchanged money with the abukis/abookis for me and KEEP QUIET at the markets, allow ur friends to barter for u because once locals hear ur accent, its over! Also, be advised most of the employees at Murtala Muhammed airport are PROFESSIONAL EXTORTIONISTS and will bother and beg u for money! Do not give out more that $2, currently that is more than 3K naira which is good for any extortionist! Have fun!
