I have visited Switzerland most years since 1971. Since 1972 I have always bought a Swiss Travel Pass. Re excursions up mountains, I am one of those who rate Gornergrat at number one.. It is tremendous value for money.. A certain line near Interlaken is not value for the very high prices charged. (You only get 25% discount with the Swiss Travel Pass.)
@TandAJAdventures
@TandAJAdventures 7 дней назад
Ahhh that’s is so amazing to hear, it seems you love Switzerland as do we but definitely haven’t visited as much as you. Ahh we double checked the website and it states you definitely get 50% with a Swiss travel pass on the Gornergrat. Which train are you referring to for 25% please?
@Fan652w
@Fan652w 7 дней назад
@@TandAJAdventures 50% is the normal discount rate for holders of the Swiss Travel Pass on mountain lines, and that is the discount which I know I get when going up to the magnificent Gornergrat. At peak times I would pay about 50 Franks. If I go up to the ''Top Rip-Off of Europe' I would currently be paying with an STP (I think) 160 Franks for a ride much of which is in tunnel. ('Rip-Off' is a British-English phrase for a price which is far too high for the g0ods or services you get in return.)
@TandAJAdventures
@TandAJAdventures 7 дней назад
@@Fan652w ahh I see i believe you are talking about the Jungfrau train line. Yes absolutely that is the only train you don’t get 50% off its usually 25% and you can get cheap deals for going first thing in the morning. And yes you are right rip off is the British phrase to use 😂

Really appreciated your time and efforts doing this videos. Thank you very much! Question: Are those trains and funiculars stroller friendly? We’re bring our handicapped son in stroller.
@TandAJAdventures
@TandAJAdventures 3 месяца назад
@@ednalula2980 you’re very welcome! Answer to your question, all trains are great with big doors and wheelchair/stroller friendly. I would advice to inform the train station people in advance they might be able to support you if needed. The only ones you might have a problem with are the ones in Grindelwald, Lautbrunnen because these trains are packed during peak season. Funiculars for most places were big in size especially the jungfrau one was massive. Adelboden funicular was small too but I am sure you could ask for assistance! ☺️

Love this itinerary. Can I make Zurich and Geneva as my main stays to book hotels and the rest can be taken as day trips? I fly into Zurich and fly out of Geneva so wanted to see where I should book stays to make as much of this itinerary as possible through the train rides.
@TandAJAdventures
@TandAJAdventures Месяц назад
Thank you for your lovely comments. You can absolutely make Zurich your main stay because Zurich has great transport links. We’ll all of Switzerland has great transport links but an advantage with Zurich is it’s location and how close it is to Lucerne and Interlaken. Geneva is good too but it’s a bit far, if you want to explore Montreux and Geneva then it’s a good location to stay. ☺️ Either way be prepared for early morning wake up calls as you will need to be getting a train earlier in the morning to make most of your Swiss travel pass.

Hi T and AJ, love your Switzerland video so well explained. Please help me to decide we are family of four visiting from California this May 31st for 8 days. We are planning to rent a car having little one’s, in this case is it worth getting full amount tickets for the attractions or buy travel pass alone. Or do both rent a car and also buy the travel pass will there be any difference. Thank you and +1 subscriber 😊
@TandAJAdventures
@TandAJAdventures Месяц назад
Hello, Thank you for lovely words. ☺️ Ahh that sounds amazing, I should however mentioned that Swiss Travel pass is free for under 18’s as long as they are travelling with adults who have a Swiss travel pass. I wouldn’t recommend buying a Swiss travel pass if you are going to be driving, maybe a half fare card so you get 50% off attractions and tickets? It’s a tough question, personally if I was renting a car and that can be expensive in Switzerland, I wouldn’t then get a Swiss travel pass. But if you do end up buying one then do use this link as you do get to cancel up to 24 hours before your trip. ☺️ Link: gyg.me/TknlzK4o

You traveled from Basel? How long were the average train rides? It’s so far north. I am planning a trip end of July for 10 days and my husband doesn’t like jumping hotels so looking for a good central lactation-maybe grindelwald? Will end in Montreux. Loved your video-thanks for posting!!!
