CAI is doing a monumental job by demystifying the art world for artist gallerist and collectors . The honesty and integrity of CAI and it's Chief will not go unrewarded . He is held in high esteem . I happen to be part of a family led gallery and I salute him and hopefully in near future will liaise with him for further guidance . With kind regards
Thank you-a million-for your utmost kind words. I sincerely appreciate your positive feedback greatly. Wishing you all the best, and maybe our paths will cross in the foreseeable future. Have a great day!
Lately, many galleries are taking advantage of artists, few do the serious work, in almost all art events you have to pay before receiving, and some charge the participation or representation fee and the prices are very high, and I ask where Is it the place of art in this unbridled capitalism business 🤔 At first I thought about giving up on making art because of these obstacles, but I'm still on the way
In the end, these galleries are not interested in your art but in the size of your wallet. They are opportunistic business models taking advantage of the scarce amount of exhibiting opportunities for beginner artists. Avoid them. It even is better to hire a space together with some artists instead and gradually work towards real gallery shows. Wishing you all the best!
Hello, thanks a lot for your RU-vid channel and all your help to better understand the art world ! I have a question (not sure you mentioned it in the video, maybe my bad). What do you think of galleries contacting artists for the first time to represent / collaborate with them, just by seeing artwork online (on IG for instance) and asking for fees to participate to an art fair ? Thanks a lot for your advice !
Any gallery charging artists a fee for more exposure-whether via an exhibition in their space or to participate in an art fair-should be avoided. At the core of their business model, their income comes from the artists' pocket in the first place and not from helping artists. Wishing you all the best!
Wait! I thought that was part of the collaboration, the deal? The galleries agreed to take 50% of the profits as payment for handling the collaboration's administration.
