Watch this before you buy a "Gaming" chair

Thanks for the education! I bought used so the mesh seat was the only one available. Have to agree that the Aeron's mesh is superior. In your case is the upholstered contessa > Aeron ?

@@thejxfiles for me, yes. I've never jive with the hard plastic frame of mesh seats, from any chair manufacturer. The upholstered versions aren't as common, though, because the dealers push the mesh because it's usually faster leadtime, and only the Grade 1 fabrics, the cheapest grade, are the same price as mesh...anything higher than 1, and the fabric seat version will cost more than mesh seat version.

Ho both @necrojoe and @thejxfiles , just want to understand better why is the mesh seat on Contessa 2 is worse compared to Aeron in your opinion? Was it too firm or something else? (I'm about to purchase the Contessa 2 in full mesh.)

@@legionssssss3865 For me the Contessa's mesh isn't as firm as the Aeron's and kinda rough so it's harsh on bare skin. Granted mine is 2nd hand and the Contessa 1, so you may have a different experience with the Contessa 2.

@@thejxfiles Thanks for the info! Didn't know yours is the 1st version of Contessa. Apart from its harshness on bare skin, how's the mesh seat degradation (i.e., loss of tension)? Is it comparable to the Aeron?

Hey Maurice, the Herman Miller I reviewed in this video belong to a family member, it was bought new but it's years old at this point. I'd say when buying used the most important is to 1.find a way to check the chair in person if possible. 2. Check for any surface damage, scratches, dents etc. which is inevitable when it comes to used chairs but you have to assess whether you'd be willing to tolerate it for a lower price. Check the mesh, make sure there are no tears or holes. 3. Have a seat on the chair and try all the adjustments just to make sure that he mechanics are working. Using the height adjust, make it go up and down a couple times, ensure there's no weird noises or creaks. Herman Millers are very long lasting but it doesn't hurt to be safe. 4. Finally check that the chair is clean, of if its not, give it a thorough clean once you've bought it. You don't know what the previous owners have put the chairs through. Hope this helps!

@@thejxfiles thanks for the reply, i am in Singapore as well, for your okamura chair, did you get it 2nd hand on carousell? or is there some other places to look for 2nd hair chairs for the likes of Herman Miller, Okamura

@@MauriceSeow I bought my okamura contessa from a used chair dealer which I discovered off carousell. If you look on carousell there are quite a few sellers like this, where they will have a warehouse for you to try all the used chairs.

I think they do have their uses, if you want to recline, lounge and watch some Netflix but for general tasks and keyboard and mouse gaming can't beat a good ergonomic chair
