I know this is an old video. But I recently purchased this product. And I have been watching videos. I seen in Lightburn that there is an option in tools to do a burn test grid. So by doing that on the material. You can dial in the setting quicker instead of doing test runs and making adjustments over and over. This grid would give you a good base line to start and tweak it from there. Am I right? Just wanted to bring this up to save people from using up a lot of material trying to get a good result. Thank you for posting this video, by the way.

I bought this Laser this my second laser, the 1st was an Ortur laser master one! It worked well. I paid $479.00 with the air assist. I am very happy with this laser. I can cut 1/4 Baltic Birch plywood at 280 mm @ 100 percent power. Very clean cuts. And very little over burn if any at all. So far I am very happy with this laser. I will say I was cheap and bought a cookie cooling rack rather than by the honey comb rack. It does have to be a good rack.😁🛫and what man does not like a good rack?

This is one of my favorite lasers. I am currently reviewing the 20W upgrade for it. Hey a nice rack never hurts....for lasers anyway.

@@mpcreviews this is a great example. I ran a simple circle monogram on 1/4 inch Birch Plywood. At 260/100 it took 6 passes and then I still had to cut through the last mm

@mpcreviews Год назад
@robindaughrity-hatcher6243 are you using air assist? You should be able to cut through 1/4" very easily. If not cut your speed down a bit. I just went out and tested it and it took me two passes at 120 mm/m and 100% power.
@robinNC
@robinNC Год назад
@@mpcreviews yes sir, the air assist is from longer as well. The piece currently on the honeycomb has been through 2 passes @ 260 and 2 @ 110 and it still hasn't cut through. At this point details are lost but I will try the 120 mm/m.

Nice!! It's a clear and well done video!! May i ask you if is it possible to move the laser by hand as you have done? I will make a review too of this laser and the possibility to decide where's the 0,0 (X, Y) coordinates is very useful and handy, if i will not destroy something! This is why i ask you !!! Thanks in advance for your answer and a big Ciao from Italy, Alberto.

Is the difference between this and the 5W version simply the power and time it takes to cut? I mean if I'm looking for cutting 5mm acrylic would the 5W version create smooth edges? In the video the edges looked a bit charred and rough but maybe it's just cosmetic, and a brush up would clean them up. I'm looking for using this for cutting flight simulation panels which would require rectangular cuts with rounded corners and ideally a bevelled finish. Maybe asking too much, but I'd welcome your thoughts on this.
@mpcreviews
@mpcreviews Год назад
Yes it is the power of the laser and the time it takes to cut items. I do not think the 5w would do the job. Longer just released their 20w. May be worth upgrading to that one instead of the 5w or 10w. I think most people would say they wish they got the more powerful laser. Just my opinion. Another option would be a 20W ATEZR. I did a review on it also. My favorite laser for sure.

I would buy the air assist upgrade. Also do you know if I’m able to upgrade my laser to a stronger one. I believe mine is the 5 or 10watt laser

Are you able to hook up a rotary attachment to this laser for cups? Also I was wondering how forgiving the focus range is some Cups have dips I'd like to try to do some full raps on them
@mpcreviews
@mpcreviews 4 месяца назад
Yes you can hook up a rotary. I'm not sure how forgiving the focus would be for the rotary though. Sorry.

I've been having a dickens of a time getting my Ray5 10w to cut through acrylic without serious melting and bubbling. It works better on black, of course, but I can't get it to do clear at all. What speed/power/passes settings are working best for you?
@Ziplock9000
@Ziplock9000 7 месяцев назад
You can't cut clear acrylic with a diode laser, you need a CO2 laser.
@mpcreviews
@mpcreviews 7 месяцев назад
@ziplock9000 is correct. A diode laser cannot cut clear acrylic. It can also have issues with other colors such as yellow,

Yes this laser will work. But for the price I would suggest the xTool D1. Either the 20w or 10w would work. This one here: www.xtool.com/products/portable-diode-laserbox-d1-for-laser-engraving-laser-cutting-10w?ref=MPC&variant=44085765112047
