Here is my RU-vid story 😢 I was struggling on RU-vid for 5 years. along the journey I managed to get 45k subscribers and I was monetized🎉. unfortunately few days later, I received 3 copyright strikes and my account was terminated 😢. I had to start a new channel, all I had left was the knowledge . After just 2 months with my new channel, I now have 10k subscribers 🎉. All I want to say is that never give up on seeking for more knowledge on RU-vid ! Thank you VidIQ , you are my top motivator ❤

Y'know what's healthy for me? I'm making these videos for myself first of all - I get around 50 to 100 views a video and that's great, but I'm not doing them for views. I'm making them for fun, and that's just a great feeling on its own.

For me, the best advice is: -If your channel is not yet monetized, MAKE IT A HOBBY! -If your channel is monetized, MAKE IT A HABIT! 😁

I found myself talking about NFL Football quite a bit to my wife and friends, and they didn't care. So I figured I would start making videos talking about it on RU-vid. Here I am almost a year later with over 600 subs, growing, and learning a ton along the way.

I think RU-vid is becoming more and more popular because it is a nice way to express yourself and at the same time help other people and give them insight into specific things that you are posting about. I like making tutorials because it is fun for me and it is a hobby so far until I monetize my channel and invest even more time in the channel. At the same time it is helpful to other people. I still have just 350 subscribers but I hope to mometize soon so I can invest more in it. To everyone out there, share your passion and be persistent because when your passion becomes your source of income you will feel even more motivated and fulfilled! Keep it up everyone! 👍🏻

Look, I almost quit right after 1 year coz I couldn’t get even 500 subs and the earlier views prior to 365 days were falling off from the 4k watch hours (so frustrating!). I’m now more than 2 years on YT, and today have 860 subs. I now feel like I can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel. Why would a kid want to be an astronaut when you never hear anything about NASA or going to space anymore? They had the big space race back in the 60s & 70s when video cameras were horrible. All the footage is crappy, low-quality & grainy. But as soon as video changed to digital with ultra-high definition what did they do? They scrapped the space program & stopped sending the Space Shuttles up. A little sus no?

Taking a break or turning off your brain is such good advice. After publishing, I try to take 2-3 days where I don't start working on the next project.

Recently started my RU-vid channel that basically focuses on Short music covers (for now), because there’s barely any other thing I love more than music

So......moral of the story; find a niche that isnt saturated (you know what niche i speak of) if you do choose that niche stand out. Again moral of the story do something that others cant do! Building cars, worshops, woodworking, welding, collectibles, heck build legos and film it!! Top 3 Saturated Niches; Gaming; Meme channels/ entertainment and E-commerce I build hot rods.....not much competition and most of the competition is 70+ My buddies channel does gaming.....very hard for him. I started recently, but whenever I feel unmotivated, I just check other RU-vidrs and see that it took them months to get their first 100 subscribers. Consistency, grit, and perseverance is key.

I've had my channel for a relatively short time and at first I was just putting up random vids about all sorts of things - but I have an allotment and I LOVE gardening so this year I decided I wanted to share that with people. I'm still learning but to be honest, I do watch a lot of other peoples gardening vids because I learn from them. I'm also thinking about moving the harvest into the kitchen and doing some cooking vids through the winter when I can't garden so much. I don't have many subs yet but I really enjoy the process.

So, the reason for my fishing channel was to make me more accountable for my mental health. I know that when I go fishing my mental healthbis better. By filming and posting it, I've built an audience that want more, so I go fishing... and the cycle repeats... sure the extra few bucks help... BUT it's not about the money, it's about the community and personal mental health accountability.

Well, here's my story, I decided to start a channel way back in 2020, starting my first channel, and making oil painting content, as at the time I felt I had a unique skill to share with the world, but that channel didn't take off like I hoped, I then decided to start a second channel which aimed at children's art, but I had no idea what I was doing and blew that one as well, then kept pivoting styles and the type of art content, constantly pivoting to chase those views. Fast forward to now, I realised that no matter how much I try to fix the mess I've created, it was too late, my subscribers ditched me, and rightfully so, I kept screwing them around, kept taking constant channel breaks, and just kept making excuses as to why I don't want to keep going, when deep down, I did, I just had to find my style, do something about my consistency, and stick with it. And that's why I'm on my third, and hopefully, my final channel. I decided through a lengthy thought process to just start again, start fresh with a fresh set of metadata, and rebuild everything I've created, repurpose my older content into some new and cinematic style of content, and tell stories that relate to us as humans. I've had my channel for 2 weeks now, I'm 5 long form videos and 3 shorts videos in, and I've already built up 18 subscribers!! I remember when I started my other channels, it took months to get my first subscriber, yet here I am with 18 after just 2 weeks, and the views I'm getting are much more than I could ever imagine, with one unexpectedly taking off beyond what I could ever imagine!! And the feedback I'm getting back from my newly discovered audience is that they're loving the cinematic feel of my content, it's like watching a movie, and that's exactly what my intended plan is, to create a cinematic experience while sharing my artwork while telling stories, it's also the best way to give my older (and quite crappy quality) content another chance in the spotlight. Yes I know it's going to be a long journey to rebuild, but I already know what I'm in for in the long run, 4 years of failed YouTubing has taught me a lot, I've learnt more than I probably ever could from a course, so let's see if some of the mistakes I made previously will repeat themselves, or if I've actually learnt something 😊👍

Well said! I started my channel as a way to motivate myself to get better at my hobby, and share my progress with others. I've always said I do it because it's fun, and if it's not fun, why do it? If I can make some fun money to cover my hobby expenses I'll be very happy, but if I were to grind out projects just 'for the algorithm' I'd burn out and lose the passion so fast.

Here's my story from creating my channel to finding my niche a few months ago I spent 12 years finding a passion that I wanted to upload since I was 14 with many year breaks in between everything tried music, professional gaming, more music, community stuff I found myself really enjoying a certain game but feeling like I had little "reason" to play it over others, one day a follower of mine asked me if I'd ever consider making a vid on the game after I was trying a different niche (which I didn't enjoy anything about it, started hating editing, hating research, hating recording it felt like a chore until I realised I only enjoy watching that type of content ) and mentioning the game realised some of my fav channels played the game so I used them for research recorded one vid and absolutely fell in love and became hooked on it and now spend free working on vids (with appropriate breaks) or wanting to work on videos I now enjoy making thumbnails even when feeling "stuck" for ideas, editing, recording, research and it gave me purpose, reason and enjoyment and I'm no longer demotivated if I don't get the views I want I'm more motivated to improve It's been a weird journey to find my niche but if you're like me, if you have an idea or suggestion go for it you never know if it could lead you to feel passion or fall in love with the topic, game, whatever like what happened with me

Only halfway through this. Love this approach. The hard thing is finding the crossover between your passion and a marketable area with an audience.

Best advice I got was make it a hobby. Don’t stress out on the numbers. I work full time so I’ve only been putting up shorts every few days about my hobby/sideline. Get a few subscribers a few weeks, a couple hundred views sometimes none.😅 Just push through. Currently at 745 subs. Will try to get to 1K before end of the year. More power to us all small channels.

ive always wanted to be a youtuber ever since i got internet around 2016, but never really had any ideas whafor what to do. It hit me about two weeks ago that my passion is researching firearms! I always bring up and show my friends these horrible, grotesque prototypes that have insane appearances or features. So, i made a channel. My first video was on the guns of tarkov, which didnt perform well, but i started to make youtube shorts going over prototype weapons! so far in just over a week i have gained 29 subscribers and over 23 thousand views. I hate the 365-day rolling time frame to get 4k watch hours, especially when you’re already struggling to make it and the earlier view hours - those that were before the last 365 days - fall off 😑. I’m at 860 subs and 3600 hours, sooo close but dreading the earlier views falling off before I can monetise.

I have to agree with you. I’m an artist and a hiker first and I just happen to have a RU-vid channel. I’m not a RU-vidr who happens to hike and paint.

I wanted to become a youtuber since I was 12. When I started to watch youtube, the content I enjoyed the most was gaming and I still do to this day. So I made gaming videos. But now I also enjoy anime and writing stories and I dont know how I would integrate those into my content

With all these kids wanting to be content creators, the creative landscape will be improved. Like a new Renaissance of creativity that hasn't been seen before.

This makes sense. I think I’ve seen some small improvements with consistency that I didn’t see before. It bring opportunity for improvements that I didn’t see when I wasn’t as consistent. It brings out the passion to improve the quality of my videos!

I have been playing Minecraft for years, often I found myself wanting more time to play and create the ideas I have. My mind is always filled with ideas, Minecraft is a great tool that's also fun for making those ideas. I've been slowly working on how to make entertaining videos but also making efforts to add tips or information to help others learn how to play or things that you might not know. After I started making videos I found I enjoy sharing it with others and get more value out of playing Minecraft because it has more depth when it's to share. I've been inspired by a friend making videos again and that's why I'm back at it after a 2 year break. Sometimes I struggle with my reason and motivation. When I feel that I step back and try to focus on something else and relax. It's easy to get caught up in a need to keep creating. I've decided my form of consistency is to not stop but adjust how I do things as is needed for my mental health. I have a strong desire to make this my lifestyle and living, this often leads me to getting overzealous and pushing myself too far. Learning to balance it isn't easy but I believe it is important for the longevity of content creation.

I have been working on my RU-vid channel for almost 2 years and it has taken time but it is worth it. I work a full time job as well. And I get into funks a lot where I don’t want to create anything cause I am drained from the job. I don’t really know where I was going with this lol but I am proud of myself and hope to work on posting more long form this new year.

I’ve been a RU-vid audience member for as long as I can remember. I’ve always been drawn to mystery and horror channels. For years, I dreamed of creating my own channel and sharing the stories I’ve long wanted to tell. But many years passed, and it remained just a plan. Then, one day, I woke up and suddenly created my own channel. And yes, it’s incredibly hard! No views, not even impressions-haha. The struggle is real. But that’s okay, I'm enjoying every bit of it and it’s all part of the learning process. Even if I only have one or two viewers, that’s fine as long as I’m enjoying sharing the stories I’ve wanted to tell for so long. Who knows, maybe one day RU-vid will learn to love me too 😅

I have Arabic channel but many of my subscribers are English from shorts video’s so how to upload long videos to my Arabic audience and not the English one’s ? Because having them not press the long video’s hurt my channel

8:33 - This advice is hitting because as soon as I made a channel for movie reviews I stopped watching movie reviews from creators I enjoy. Mostly because I don't want my opinion about a movie to be influenced by something someone else said negatively or positively. And after spending hours editing a movie review I often didn't feel like watching someone else's review at that point. I've talked about it or heard about that movie enough. Time to move on.

Creating content for your own enjoyment takes off a lot of the pressure and keeps the process fulfilling. It's easy to get caught up in the numbers, but when you're genuinely having fun, it shows in your videos, and your audience can feel that. Plus, when you're passionate about what you create, those views will grow over time naturally. Keep enjoying the journey.

Things I talk too much about? That'd be stories, creative ideas, teaching others, and solving puzzles. Therefore: Riddles.

I used to worry so much about subscribers and watching others in my niche passing me by. Not anymore. I just care about making good videos for the people who do watch them. I know people that have 6 digits worth of subscribers who can't get a thousand people in a livestream and their videos only get about 500 views. I know who regularly watches my videos among my subscribers and I get a good amount of views for 328 subscribers. I've gotten good advice here for sure and I'm grateful.

I've got 159 subscribers recently thank you vidiq for supporting me on this journey on youtube. Trying to do my best and to be consistent here... And to all the creators out there we all will make it one day. So never give up

I used to care about views but now I don't. I've gained so much knowledge from my "failures" and have been improving my skills over the years. We all will get there eventually so keep pumping out content and keep improving yourself!

For the last two years I've spent ALL my free time creating my channel. I only take days off due to bad weather. I will succeed or YT will ruin me (my videos can cost up to 50$ a piece to produce), whatever comes first.

All I will say is, I wish all my fellow up growing RU-vidr a happy monetization and I hope you never give up on your passion. Remember why you started in the first place
