Hey Mixalis, The factory air inlet location on most four wheel drives are generally at headlight height, and whilst you may not be entering water at that level, a snorkel accommodates for any splash or water ingress from entering a much smaller water crossing, like beach run outs, or even river crossings, which would be more common. So for people who use their 4wds across Australia it's a great safety measure!
