The first time I spoke to Ali + Michael was on a Zoom date. I was in our little home office and A + M were half a world away in Germany. M was playing hockey for them and it was just the two of them there; learning the ropes in a new place, trying new foods, and dealing with a fleeting sun. When two people can meet that challenge together and not only survive, but thrive, it’s obvious that they’re truly in love and very much doing something right.
Their wedding day had the two of them written all over it. It was elegant, classy, and fun just like A. It was filled with warmth, family, and an appreciation for the simple pleasures just like M. At one point M’s dad was handed a guitar and sang a song for (and about) A + M. He even printed out the lyrics and handed it to all of the guests so they could sing along as well. When your love is so true and plain to see that it makes other people sing about it, then you really know you have something good.
Towards the end of the evening we were treated to a stunning sunset. Everything looked dipped in amber and gold. There was a gorgeous hedge circle behind their venue so we obviously had to have A + M dance in the middle of it while we flew the drone above them. We could hear their distant giggles as they joked and played together - a moment where everything stopped just for them to have one last golden moment. Now, M plays for Finland and he and A will continue to travel together. They will continue to explore, adapt, and learn about new places and people. They will continue to support each other. Although they might change locations over the years, I know they’ll keep doing this life thing right. 🏒🥅💕
