During my motorbike trip along slovakian Route 66, I took my Honda CB500x to ancient watch tower in Krupina. The tower is called Vartovka.
Vartovka in Krupina is a guard tower of a square ground plan, approximately 13 meters high. It was built around 1564. Its main task was, along with other guard towers in the neighborhood, to inform about the impending danger. For example, about approaching Turks or rebel or imperial troops.
Today, Vartovka is freely accessible and serves as a lookout tower of the wide surroundings of the Stiavnica Mountains and the Krupina Plain. Pedestrian trail starts from the centre of Krupina along the
blue marked path. A pleasant walk takes about one hour. It is also accessible by car or motorcycle as you can see in this video.
